Kate Gosselin Dazzles At The Kentucky Derby, Kate Plus 8 Philly Fun Review

UKDailyMail.com: She is regularly seen jogging around her home town of Wyomissing Pennsylvania while taking a break from looking after her eight children..And all the exercise seems to have paid off for Kate Gosselin as she stepped out on the red carpet at a Kentucky Derby pre-party. She's All that glitters: Kate Gosselin looked striking in a gold and black sequinned dress at tonight's Barnstable Brown Derby party in Louisville, Kentucky. Looking dazzling in a black and gold minidress, the reality star showed off her svelte figure as she , who today soaked up some of the atmosphere at the Barnstable Brown Derby party in Louisville earlier tonight. A few hours earlier, Kate looked more ready for the races, wearing a plum coloured dress with matching hat at a gifting suite. She was clearly excited about going to the races, posting on her Twitter account: '

Lots 2 do before I’m off 2 the races (derby, lol) in next few days. Can u hear me galloping 2 bed? Gotta get sleep & get house back in order 1st.' She joined a few other stars in town early to watch the 137th Derby.

In other related Gosselin news, haters are flocking to any Gosselin blog they can to talk about how JEALOUS they are of Kate Gosselin. Making themselves appear more desparate than ever. News at 11!
On TLC’s Kate Plus 8 the family experienced some Philly Fun! Along with them came Kate’s BFF Jamie to help with the kids. The trip to Philadelphia started with an adventure in the hotel suite. Between the pull out couch and the numerous roll away beds, it was chaos. But once everyone had their medicine on their hands to treat eczema and then had their socks on, the room calmed down.
The day of touring began with the fam taking a Ben Franklin Walking Tour led by a guy dressed like Ben Franklin might have dressed. He showed them many sites throughout the city. The coolest thing brought up was a statue of Ben Franklin’s head made up of pennies and keys. The kids got a history lesson regarding the Liberty Bell and why it was cracked. Of course they didn’t quite absorb it all. When asked why they ringed the bell, one answer was, “They rang it because they were so excited.” Another suggested, “They wanted people to make their own choices.” Cute. Kate has that going for her, those kids of hers are just plain cute!!!

There was a stop to the National Constitution Center. It has a lot of interactive things for children to see. But, I am not sure six year olds were going to learn, or remember it, but still, even if they just remember a little it’s worth it! They took turns pretending to get sworn in as the next president. Two of the boys were talking about why you had to raise your right hand when being sworn in. One of them told the other, “It’s the Liberty hand.” Again, very cute!!!!
Of course, much less cute, was Kate walking around a room with statues, talking to them, even hitting on them. Yes, all in gest, but still a little weird. A trip to the market found the family at a pretzel shop. The owner let them stand on buckets to roll out the pretzel dough and help make some pretzels. That night Kate took them to a hockey game. One of the boys said, “It’s like hockey, but it’s on ice.” The monkey’s piled into box seats. It didn’t appear there was much hockey watching going on, just lots of snacking. A previously injured hockey player who was still recovering came up to the box to answer any hockey questions the gang had and to pass out jerseys to all the kids. Eventually Kate found time to sit down and watch the game and realized she really enjoyed it!!
Day 2 they went to an Insectarium. Kate was fairly okay with the whole scenario, as long as the insects were dead. But when the live scorpion came on, she wasn’t doing so well. Then when the huge spider made its appearance she was pretty freaked out. She came up with, “Who would pay me to hold the spider?” One of crew offered her a crisp $100 bill. Just like past episodes where she tried to rationalize away her fears, and once again she made a deal about her fear. Naturally she held the spider and earned her $100. Later in the tour Kate intervened just in the nick of time when the bug guy had the kids looking at, and just about eating, cheddar covered bugs. Kate was NOT having any of that and neither were they! A trip to Philly was not to be complete without a cheesesteak sandwich so the group did a taste test between two fast food joints and they picked Geno’s Steaks hands down over Pat’s steaks. Apparently it’s all in the cheese whiz. Kate went into the kitchen at Geno’s and they made her a small sandwich with the cheese whiz and she fell in love. It was silly how natural she acted, as if everyone (read that anyone) goes into the kitchen of the restaurant they dine at/in. Too Funny! They finished off their trip to Philly by running up the Rocky stairs, which was a bit more meaningful as she showed them a clip on the movie on her phone.

  1. Kate certainly did a great cross section of Philly in the episode. Our family certainly enjoyed it!

Those of our kids who had been there kept saying, "Look! They're at the ___!" ( fill in the blank) They were excited to see the G kids enjoying some of our own favorites. (Yes, we had also done the Genos vs Pat comparison... It's fun but we were split in our vote.) Our kids who have not been there were captivated by the enthusiasm and are lobbying hard for a summer visit.

We did not see the "statues" on our family visit. However, two of ours who went on a class trip said their guide said the life-size statues were designed to get people to interact to note how they were dressed and how tall or short they were.

I thought the voting was cute. Ours said, "Remember when we were in K-1 and the only president we knew was George Washington! The G kids are like we were!"

Ours were too young for the Rocky movie. We did a similar thing to Kate. We showed them a clip of the run up the steps. Of course, that set off a challenge to see how fast they could do it. Health issues prevented me from doing it so I was the official time keeper.

  2. Our kids want the G kids to go to DC on a trip. They are writing to TLC to suggest things they enjoyed in DC that they think the G kids would enjoy.

For the record, I did not encourage them to write the letters. They write a lot of letters to people and businesses. For family trips, we vote on what to do after deciding on a location, They send off for brochures and do Internet searches. Their opinion: Internet is faster but getting "real" mail is more fun.

  3. My thoughts on TLC and Kate continuing to film...

I think Kate and TLC have a very good relationship. She has been a loyal participant in everything they have asked her to do.

Certainly allowing cameras to film the break-up and demise of your marriage was huge! And TLC reaped big money from all of that!

Agreeing to be a participant in the Sarah Palin drama was another example...Palin was the superstar...Kate the fall gal again!

Kate has over the years been a big money maker for TLC...they know that. Kate put TLC on the map as far as notoriety for a network.

So I believe the execs know that they do owe Kate some loyalty. We all know the show will eventually come to an end. Kate knows that. The kids are getting bigger...time will come perhaps when they have so much going on that maybe they will be ready to move on.

But right now, the show is still as cute and interesting as ever for me. The kids are adorable...8 little different personalities...all really starting to shine.

And well, of course, then there is Kate! Kate the Great! Her Highness Kate! I know she grates on some people...but she is my kind of gal!

I so love Kate's sense of humor. Her manner of expressing herself. Her take charge attitude. Her drive..her tenancity...her spunk...her in your face "I'm gonna do it" attitude!

So yes..I think they will film for this season and at least one more. Then I do believe we can expect to see "Twist of Kate" emerge!

  4. They wont cancel. Especially if the khaters keep her relevant. She gives TLC good TV. My kids get to watch the G kids, which they love. Win Win.

  5. TLC cancelled Little People Big World, but they are still going to do specials. They never had that Gosselin zing

  7. Hey Lexii ack still looking everywhere for it. If you know anywhere that has it please let me know!

I just wrote on Twitter that I have no problems leaving my kids if anyone wants to take me to the Kentucky Derby. It must be a slow news week now that the Royal Wedding is over. I mean if all the blogs are complaining that Kate is leaving her kids on Mothers Day! Bonnie Fuller is so excited to write another snarky inappropriate Kate post saying how dare she. Man poor Bonnie it's been a while huh? I think it's great if she gets to go and I really hope they film it!

  8. taskapork - I don't think TLC canceld LPBW, I think it was the Roloff's choice. At first Amy tried to answe questions on TLC's blog page for them, but the hate got so bad, all of them stopped taking part in TLC's blog for them and Matt created his own page and moderated it well. Matt specifically stated that's why he created his own blog site for his family, that TLC wouldn't moderate.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ziggy, I sure hope so, I've heard that, that it was mutual, and that it was TLC intitiated. I agree that TLC should do a better job of moderationg blogs if it wants to have them. Letting hate spread and take root helps no one, I do think they like the controversy because it seems to raise ratings, I know both Roloffs said that editting made their marital issues look worse than they were.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think Kate and the 8 might continue to do a few specials a year. Kate is busy doing other things, and the kids will become more in school activities the older they get. TLC has never protected any family, and that I feel that is wrong.

Amy was portrayed sometimes bad on their show and it showed Matt spending lots of money that seemed to upset Amy. Matt bought lots of toys and I think at one time they had huge debts, and there was talk of sellling the farm.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's here!! Kate looked so great in the parade. Sage has posted a picture.

  11. Hi bubbles! Thats so sweet thank you!

So jealous now finally getting to my e-mails late at night again and finally getting to see the photos of Kate from the Kentucky Derby. Looks like everyone is having such an amazing time and I'm so jealous! Also Kate met one of my FAVEORITE housewives Vicki! My head was about ot explode since those are obviously my 2 favorite shows. Match in heaven.

    Has anyone ever gone?

  12. GM all! Kate just tweeted that she is headed to the Oakes and will don her lst Derby hat. Your pal SG has already mis-interpreted what Kate said and added her snark on the page.

Can't wait to see what hat she comes up with! LOL Some of them look down-right ridiculous...but I think that's part of the culture..see who can come up with the big "eye-catching" hat!

Let's just hope she comes up with something better than a "Minnie Pearl" hat with the price tag a dangling!

Ziggy has a cute picture of Kate...laughing in that cute pink dress.

Did you all notice that Kate tweeted that this is the same dress she wore on the View? Haters take note...Kate did not waste any of the 8's money to buy a new dress for the parade!!! LOL

Such an economy minded mom! No waste from Kate!

Still looking for the upload of Philly fun. If you see it anywhere email me ;)

  14. If it's true, its kind of sad that Jon is suing his brother, he must be desperate or he must like courtrooms. Hopefully this means that he finally got tired of taking Kate to court. For his sake, I hope he doesn't alienate everyone to the point that he has nobody. Its also coincidental that he's suing brother for doing the exact same thing he does to Kate and the kids all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Although I am enjoying Kate Plus 8, it almost feels more like I'm watching a bunch of kids on a class field trip or something. One thing I really loved about Jon and Kate Plus 8 was just watching how they manage every day life - laundry for 8 kids, feeding 8 kids, etc. I would still like to see some of the "every day life" which I'm sure is chaotic, busy, noisy, and fun. When they are just going on paid vacations to fancy destinations, it doesn't have the same feel.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree it was fun watching the day to day stuff, but after being accused of making the kids "work" instead of live I can see why the changed the format. The kids probably got sick of being filmed at home all of the time too.

I finally watched the Australia Zoo episode last night (bad sheeple that I am) I LOVED it.

  17. wait Jon's suing his brother??? Fill me in.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ROL (and others) are posting that Jon plans to sue his brother, Mark, for allegedly giving info to media. The have a quote from the brother stating his innocence.

So... It is sad. It also raises questions:
Does Jon see this accusation as an excuse to garner headlines (instead of an "everyday" lifestyle?
Is this the brother who took in Jon when nobody else would or a different brother?
At least he's suing somebody other than Kate?
Is it a case of, when caught blame somebody else? (gosh I really hope not!)
Kate's at the Derby and getting attention, so surprise, surprise, here we have Jon again with a media headline once again.

  22. Oh, yeah, and the other reason he needs to put up a stink is around the corner, the kids' birthday. I forgot about that. I hope they have fun. At least he won't have the paparazzi tripping over the kids and waving the cameras in the car like he did that one year on the girl's birthday. Now, I don't want anyone to think that because I said this that I am a Jon hater, I am not, I just want him to get it together for the kids and he has shown that his motives can be questionable on a good day.

  23. rut roh! someone is trying to stay relative in the press again!

"Jon Gosselin has threatened to sue his own brother! The family feud stems from Jon’s belief that his brother Mark has been selling information to the media, Star magazine is reporting exclusively.

But Mark denies selling out his brother, RadarOnline.com has learned. Radar has also confirmed that Jon’s lawyer has threatened to sue Mark. “Jon doesn’t believe me,” Mark told Star magazine, denying that he has ratted out his bro for cash. “We haven’t had much of a conversation besides ‘Hey’ in a few weeks,” Mark told the mag, adding, “I’ve lost my best friend due to all this.”

Jon and Mark live near each other in Pennsylvania but Mark tells Star they might as well be on opposite coasts the way things are now. “All my daughter does is ask to see her cousins,” Mark said to Star. “I don’t know what to tell her.” Jon previously described his relationship with his family as “wonderful.”

Been a busy day here...had to split up...hubby went to baseball game of son and I cheered my little girl at the soccer field. Then we all met back at Papa John's! No cooking for me tonite!

Kate sure rocked some cute dresses. That party dress was a looker...she's not bashful is she!!! LOL

Well, it was just nice that she had a few days to herself to have some fun and new experiences. Like most of us...it's back to the grind on Monday!

I'm not gonna comment on the Jon drama...always predictable...got to have his name out there when Kate is doing something!

Baby Mama - Post a link from galleries at Louiville newspaper. Those dresses were incredible. Winona Judd, the model, and many others! I could never, "Ev-ahh" wear those. That was one rocking party!

  34. Your Mother is always with you.

She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street,
she's the smell of certain foods you remember,
flowers you pick and perfume that she wore, she's the
twinkle on a snowflake that's lit by the moon,
she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well,
she's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day.
She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep,
she's the colors of a rainbow during a shower,
she is the excitement of Christmas morning.
Your Mother lives inside your laughter.
And she's crystallized in every tear drop.
A mother shows every emotion........... happiness, sadness, fear,
jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow
.... and all the while, hoping and praying you will only know
    the good feelings in life.

    Happy Mother's Day!

An FYI, don't believe the -10 sock puppets Tweeting to themselves. I got an email from former co-worker who's now at paper there. (I don't think sock puppet was there but really home in Petaluma.) There were NO protests about Kate, folks waiting for celebs KNEW who Kate was, and the rest of the junk existed only in her mind. She has a LOT of imagined conversations, lol. (Please, no need to send me more emails about puppet garbage. I have them blocked and I choose not to wallow in their garbage. :)

Thank you Linda! These links are great! Theres alot that exists in these haters minds. The more Twitter accounts that are deleted the more accounts they make up. Did you notice that idiot account that said Kate was booed? Well it was just opened. No followers, only there for a day. I can basically open some fake Twitter account and say I'm staying in the room next to Kate and people would believe me. I don't understand after 3 years of this stuff that people would continue to beleive any negative thing that comes out there about Kate Gosselin JUST because its about her. Wasn't it embarassing enough for them that the fell for the BS "old sanwiches to school" story? Lisa, Pressi & that whole group should still be hiding their heads in shame. lol

DWTS Alum Kate Gosselin: "I Clearly Cannot Dance!"

"Kate Gosselin's disastrous Dancing With the Stars days continue to haunt her. At Friday's Barnstable Brown Derby Party in Louisville, Ky. celebrating the Kentucky Derby, the mom of eight told Us Weekly competing on the ABC show's tenth season was an eye-opening experience.

Gosselin, 36, told Us she's been watching the show's current season -- where her former pro partner, Tony Dovolani, danced with Wendy Williams -- but insists she'd never set foot back in the ballroom. "Never again," she emphatically told Us. "Not because it was a bad experience though -- it was an awesome experience -- but I clearly cannot dance."

The Kate Plus 8 star's revelation is a notion long realized by DWTS fans -- and Dovolani himself. Finishing in eighth place on the season won by Nicole Scherzinger, Gosselin returned for the show's spring 2010 finale and attempted to silence her haters.

"I would guess that 90 percent of my audience doesn't like me," she said before performing a paso doble to Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi." "I'm so controversial. "I could stand there in the middle of the floor and people would [still] judge me," she added. "I would still get picked apart to pieces -- so I might as well have fun with it."

  43. Well hello everyone! Long time no see me! haha Miss being here more often - but do enjoy popping in here to read when I can!

I just read where someone said that they feel like they are watching 'field trips' with the new shows. I have to admit I kind of feel the same way. I think the largest appeal of the old show was the 'day to day' of it -- watching Kate manage the house - all the creative things she would do to make things work......the ups and downs - the laughter and the frustration! I do hope that they can somehow get some of the shows back to that at some point!

Much love to all the other Momma's here! I hope your Mother's day was simply fantastic!!

  44. Good afternoon gals! I've been at the races myself the last couple of days! Whew! Just now sitting down and catching up a bit.

Our Kate the Great had a fantastic weekend did she not? And all those dresses and hats...Kate looks good in just about anything she puts on now.

Ziggy took her bow in hand and has shot a straight arrow at the child advocates main 2-headed monster...Nina and Peterson. I mean she took dead aim...let's see if she gets a response.

No tip toe-ing thru the tulips for Ziggy. Went right at them. I'm glad. We all have to keep standing firm and upright against all this ridiculous harrassment, vulgarity and cruel remarks these so-called advocates to free the G's continue to hurl at Kate.

I'm hearing that maybe we have another episode coming up at the end of the month?

  46. Did Kate Gosselin Leave the Kids With Jon for Mother's Day?

"Where in the world has Kate Gosselin been lately? Not that I've made a habit of keeping track of her, but there she was this weekend at the Kentucky Derby—without the kids.

In other words, the little ones spent most of Mother's Day Weekend back home with their dad Jon. Gosselin was tweeting away throughout the festivities, reporting on how she was going from one event to another. She worried about what she was wearing, specifically a signature Derby hat that was "big and feathery."

Ms. Gosselin also managed to find time to do some swagging at the Style Icon Luxury Gifting Suite at the Galt House. Among the other goodies she picked up were a white gold and diamond star pendant from Connor Custom Jewelry, sunglasses and a handbag from George Gina and Lucy, an invitation to get custom-blended teas from the Teaologist and the big feathery hat she was so concerned about.

We are happy to see it wasn't all about freebies for Kate. She did bid on an Elvis Presleyprint and a Pittsburgh Steelers signed helmet during a silent auction benefiting the March of Dimes. "She was wearing a formfitting, curve-hugging pink dress with a black and pink hat with flowers," an eyewitness reports of Gosselin's swag suite visit. "Her legs looked amazing!"

In the end, Gosselin made it home for Mother's Day. She tweeted that she picked up Chinese food for dinner because it was one of the few nights she feels she doesn't have to do the cooking.

Yes alot of the shows have been that way in order to boost ratings for a show that has done very well but hitting it's stride after 4 years. It's kinda like people want to be entertained. So more trips..then they want the everday stuff, so hopefully they will shoe more of that and see if the ratings go up.

  49. Last night I watched an episode of Quints by Surprise (never saw last season) and must admit it was an OK show, similar to J&K+8...but I must ask are they HATED as much as Kate is??? They are doing the same thing that Jon and Kate choose to do with their family...right??? Maybe I only hear about Kate hate because I have watched her show, but it seems that if they hate her so much for "child advocacy" reasons then they should also be opposed to this family as well! Not that I am saying they should spue their crap at this family!!! I hope they don't have to face the same crap that the G's have had to face!!! If in fact they don't attack this family it further proves that they are purely Jealous of Kate's fame and nothing more...at least IMHO.

  50. Bubbles I just caught up on posts and THANK YOU!!!!!

BJ I don't find that show any different than Jon & Kate plus 8. I think people just don't like Kate. They rip apart the Duggar's and LPBW but I don't know.

Live & let live is what I say. I could care less if they like Kate or the Gosselin's as long as they don't make me read their opinions or try to "educate" me. Every one's entitled to their own opinion as long as they don't use it in a vile, hurtful, bullying or offensive way. The problem is some of them don't understand the true meaning of the word "bullying".

  51. Craftymom, TTA. My issues with the trolls aren't nearly as much about the Gosselins as they are about the hate and bullying. Hate and bullying is wrong no matter what it is about.
While I firmly believe that parents are the best ones to make decisions about filming for their kids, I have concerns that Sisterwives teeters a lot closer to the line than the Gosselins ever did. While I support their right to live in the privacy in their home as they see fit without intrusion, filming has brought intrusion including legal investigations into their home and caused upheaval for the kids. Some were even filmed crying about it and that sits a little uneasy for me. They may be seen as outcasts for things that are totally out of control. I know their parents see a greater cause at stake, but its a fine line.
TeenMom is another show that I really think comes close to the line on exploitation. I like the show and think it has a lot of teachable moments, but wonder if the girls know what they are getting into when they sign up. For instance I don't think Amber realized that by allowing filming, she would be subject to felony prosecution for something that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. I am by no means saying that these shows shouldn't film, only that in my opinion there is a lot to conisder and that Kate's show is far less exploitive than others. I do think that if on camera, Kate had a 9-5, or her own business, so people could be in denial about the income produced by the show, things would be different even if the income generated from said "job" was minimal

  53. Tashapork that is so sweet! Yes could you believe it's those adorable kids birthday? My goodness time goes by so fast!

I promise to get a new post up tonight. I know it's been a while. My kids activities seem to be overwhelming my schedule. Works been busy as well. I'm really hoping we get to see on tv what the kids do. Did they show it last year & I just forgot? I remember the drama of the divorce taking up all the headlines...

  54. Ziggy we keep those RWA losers in business. They talk about us night and day. All 3 of then & their 10 other fake socks. The Gosselin news is slow, and they can't admit their site is an old sponge that need to be rung & tossed. I'm beyond flattered that after 3 years I'm all they still want to talk about. I'm that important. I'm so happy, blessed and strong within my own mind, they wish they only had a fraction of what we've got!

"if they aren't talking about you then your not relevant"

May I forever be on the tip of everyones tongue... Xoxo

  55. I think last year was the party in Florida with the Fan Boat Ride and they swam with the dolphins and other stuff...it was a "late" party I think because one of the twins was upset that the younger kids got several birthday parties. They even had bugs wherever they went and had cake...I can't remember all the details, but I do think that was last year.

  56. A friend of mine posted this on her facebook today. I have been re-posting it other places.

  57. Ziggy - I'm enjoying them also in their travels. I enjoyed the "stay at home days" too but now that they're older, I love seeing their learning experiences.

    Tigger - Great quote.

BJ - I think it was Florida also. I remember those love bugs!

I think it's fabulous that they get two parties - a private family one, and a public "event" one. We do a family only birthday and a party birthday with friends invited. Don't see a thing wrong with that!

It's crazy busy here with end of the school year. We're STILL trying to get a catapult project finished. It has to shoot a ping pong ball 30 ft but the finished catapult can only be 3 ft wide x 3 ft long x 3 ft high. It must be assembled by the kids, must have 4 wheels on base and roll, and must cost $20 or less in supplies. The clock is ticking to the deadline. Yuck!

  58. Too bad Matt Roloff isn't around to help you and the kids Linda. That's an accellerated school, but they'll learn a lot.

  59. Thanks tigger and tashapork. Thus far we've learned what doesn't work. Just means we're eliminating the negatives and moving closer to something that will work. Recycling a lot of wood. :)
