Kate Gosselin on People: Self Promoter or Working Mom?

"After a few sun-filled days shooting a magazine cover in Mexico, Kate Gosselin returned to reality on Friday, stepping out in Pennsylvania to take her kids to a dentist appointment. Kate traded in her colorful bikini for a business look, pairing a button-down blouse and black skirt with heels.
The four kids with her also stepped out in style: the two boys wore matching shorts and polo shirts while the two girls wore matching jean shorts and pink tops and shoes. Kate, who recently talked about her devotion to fitness and staying healthy, kept a water on hand to stay hydrated during the warm afternoon of errands."

Did Kate Gosselin Get Hot All of a Sudden?: TheHollywoodGossip.com

When a magazine plays up some female celebrity's "revenge body," most of the time it's total nonsense. But in the case of Kate Gosselin's new People magazine cover, there might be something to it. She actually looks good. Really good. Like, blow-Jon's-cadre-of-mediocre-girls-out-of-the-water good. At 35, the mother of eight and rumored girlfriend of Steve Neild may be making him one lucky protector. She is now "the most fit I've ever been," she says. How? No plastic surgery for this reality star. She credits near-daily runs outside her Wernersville, Penn., home, and she's not afraid to show off the results.

Kate Gosselin on People: Self Promoter or Average Working Mom?: Babble.com

In response to Kate’s cover photo, “Mom of 4 Bonnie Fuller” asked, “Is Kate Putting Self Promotion Ahead Of Parenting On Her Priority List?“  I don’t know, “Mom of 4 Bonnie Fuller.”  Is Kate putting self-promotion ahead of parenting, or is self-promotion just a part of having a job in media, “Mom of 4 Bonnie Fuller?”  Where are your kids while you write your columns on your website with your name all over it?
We all know Kate Gosselin is the Mommy the media loves to hate.  Kate appeared on the cover of Life & Style this Spring, with the phrase “OUT OF CONTROL MONSTER!” splayed across her chest. In an article about Kate’s new book, the rag accused her of exploiting her children for cash, which may seem inarguable, given that she’s chosen to raise her kids on-camera. But the piece went on to criticize her for appearing on Dancing With The Stars, which had her flying “3,000 miles from their Pennsylvania hometown once a week so she can compete on the show,” adding, “The kids, meanwhile, are left behind – in tears.”  Really?  How do we know Kate’s kids are left in tears while their Mom is on TV or a book tour or off getting botox and breast implants in Mexico with her bodyguard? When Kate is traveling, her kids are spending time with their Dad, picnicking with his 23-year-old girlfriend. If they’re crying, maybe he should do something about it?

Kate is constantly accused of exploiting her children and being a self-promoter, and while I’m not saying there isn’t truth to both of those statements, I have trouble understanding how Kate is the “bad guy” when she’s the parent hustling to feed her family after her husband cheated on her. No doubt she’s said some inappropriate things out of anger towards him, but why is it that Jon’s cheating scandal seems to have completely disappeared from the annals of pop-culture memory? More importantly, why is it that Jon has been referred to by the media as a babysitter to his own children? It seems to me that the villification of Kate Gosselin is an indirect attack on working mothers everywhere.

Jon Gosselin isn’t the only Hollywood Dad who’s been accused of being forced to babysit his own children. Brad Pitt has been called Angelina Jolie’s nanny. An article screaming, “ANGIE TURNS BRAD INTO THE BABYSITTER,” also appeared in the aforementioned issue of Life & Style. It reads, “Brad Pitt is one of the most famous actors in the world, but these days he’s acting more like a nanny than a Hollywood power player. While partner Angelina Jolie shoots her latest film, The Tourist, with Johnny Depp in Venice, Italy, Brad – scruffy, sloppily dressed and looking harried – has been spotted carting his six young children around the city as if he were Angie’s hired help.”  I’m sorry, what?  You mean as if he were Angie’s partner, right?  No one would say such a thing about a woman.  “Wow, Jennifer Garner is really starting to look like Ben Affleck’s nanny. She just devotes too much time to her kids.”  Insanity.

Time and time again, the media – including most parenting magazines – reinforces the idea that being sloppily dressed and looking harried is a badge of honor women wear when they become mothers. But to see a man suffering the same slings and arrows of parenthood is a shock. Sure, the new model of the Hollywood Mom makes motherhood look glamorous, as if the average woman should be able to balance a demanding career with hands-on parenting without ever smudging her stylist-applied eye-liner. We all know that’s not a realistic image for everyday people to be comparing themselves to, and I’ve rallied against women feeling the need to keep up with the Angie’s – and now Kate’s – of the world. But scrutinizing a woman’s intentions as a parent because she appears on the cover of a magazine when that’s her job is ridiculous and something a working Dad would never be subject to. We’ll know we’ve achieved some kind of gender equality when fathers are no longer accused of “babysitting” their own children while Monster Moms are deemed pigs for bringing home the bacon.

Kate Gosselin Flaunts Her New Body on People! YAY KATE!

She flaunted her body after (eight!) babies on the last season of Dancing with the Stars. But it turns out Kate Gosselin was just getting warmed up. At 35, the reality TV mom says she is now "the most fit I've ever been." How? She credits near-daily runs outside her Wernersville, Penn., home – and she's not afraid to show off the results. "I've worked really hard!" she tells PEOPLE in this week's cover story. "Haven't I earned the right, at this point, to look good?"

While the single mom shoots down incessant tabloid reports linking her to her bodyguard – "It's just absurd," Gosselin says – she does hope her new body will turn some heads. "I'm waiting for Mr. Right. It would be nice if somebody noticed me, sure!"

5 Reason's Why Kate's Bikini Body Makes Moms Mad: Babble.com

Countless women struggle with their bodies, especially their bellies, after having babies. It’s just a fact of life. Your body houses a growing human being for nine plus months and things happen – stretch marks, excess weight, a bit of a paunch. But Kate Gosselin, showing off her new and improved physique on the cover of People, doesn’t have that issue…anymore. And that’s after having EIGHT kids. While many women think it’s all forms of awesome, some (present company included) just get mad. Why? Well here are 5 reasons Kate Gosselin’s bikini bod makes many of us moms mad.
1) She had eight, EIGHT kids. Her first set of twins probably did some damage to her belly, but with how enormous she got after carrying the sextuplets! Wowza. And now there is no trace of the trauma that occurred to her tummy.
2) She got plastic surgery…and it was free! Now not everyone would and could go under the knife, but Kate opted to, she had a whole lot of excess stretched out skin that she had removed, a result of the pregnancies. And since she’s on a TV show, well, a surgeon’s wife saw it, felt sorry for her, and had her hubby do a free tummy tuck!
3) Time to exercise. Kate is seen jogging and working out on a regular basis. Any mom – and in this case a single mom – knows that’s it hard to schedule in making dinner let alone getting in a fitness routine. But Kate, with eight children, finds the time to do just that.
4) The accolades. If you lost a bunch of weight, got totally in shape would you get the cover of a magazine? Yeah, probably not. Why is this woman, who is only famous for being famous, getting a magazine cover of showing off her body? She’s Kate Gosselin! People apparently love to read about her, so she’s news. And you’ve gotten all the way to number four right here…so that just proves our point.
5) Because it’s Kate Gosselin. People love her or hate her. There aren’t many who are familiar with her who don’t have a strong opinion. And most I’ve talked to, well they fall into the latter category. And they’re probably wondering, why is she still here, why is she still famous and why is she on yet another magazine cover.

Kate Plus 8: A Rough Ride, Jon Poses For Pics With The Kids, Breakfast With Kate Gosselin

Take that! After Kate Gosselin slams Jon's parenting, he takes the kids for a happy picnic: UKDailyMail.com

Jon Gosselin vowed on Twitter that he wouldn't stoop to Kate Gosselin's latest attacks on his parenting skills.Instead he seems to be letting happy pictures do the talking, as Gosselin, 33, took his sextuplets out with girlfriend Ellen Ross for a picnic in Reading, PA over the weekend. The kiddie campers were all smiles as they piled out their mini-van to partake in Kool-Aid Jammies and other treats. Not phoning home: Kate Gosselin said that when the kids are with Jon, they immediately call her because they want to come 'home'. It was far from the parenting picture that Kate Gosselin painted of her ex while on Live with Regis and Kelly last week.

The famous mother-of-eight, 35, seemed to start a new war of words when she lashed out at Jon, saying the kids don't enjoy being with him. 'I basically wait for the phone call from how many of them want to come home,' she told guest host Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa. Jon's residence, she explained 'is not (their) home; it doesn't feel like home to them.'There didn't appear to be many kids grabbing for the cell phone to call Mommy in these pictures. (BabyMama: What do we know about what Jon & Ellen are doing to keep them happy? And where is Mady & Cara???)

Jon Gosselin refused to take the bait after Kate's televised broadside.'As much as I want to respond to numerous LIES recently claimed on Regis and Kelly, I will refrain,' he steamed on Twitter immediately afterward. 'I am 'rising above' and refuse to engage in any sort of public argument that could potentially harm or upset my children.'Gosselin did draw a clear line under the happy photos. 'Had a blast this weekend with the kids,' he Tweeted on Monday. Are you getting the message, Kate? (BabyMama: Ellen then Tweeted a picture to let everyone know Collin loves Ellen... What do you think?)

Patricia Sheridan's Breakfast With ... Kate Gosselin: PittsburgPostGazette.com

Reality TV star, author and single mother Kate Gosselin has moved past the pain of her public divorce last year from Jon Gosselin. She and the two sets of multiples that made her famous -- the twins and sextuplets -- have begun a new season with the renamed show "Kate Plus Eight" on TLC. The Pennsylvania native has wasted no time looking for opportunities to continue to work in the public eye to support her family. Last season she appeared on "Dancing With the Stars," and she has been a co-host on "The View." She has written three books with a fourth due out next year.

Is life much different for you and the children when the cameras aren't rolling? Nope, just less bodies. Because I don't have time to do anything different, contrary to the very popular belief of the world that things are different.

It was obvious when the camera crew came back that the children were thrilled. Do you worry about their attachment to being filmed? No, they are attached to the people behind the equipment, not the equipment. We'll always stay in touch with them, so that is not a worry at all.

A lot of people who have been on reality TV complain it is edited to make them look a certain way (usually bad). Did you ever feel that way? Um, well, I can see where they are going with a story line, and I don't think that it's that I'm painted a certain way. I think, "Did I really say that? Did I really do that? Yuk!" So, I mean, I did it. I gave it to them. It happened. I'm living my life. I think it's just looking at myself and saying "That didn't come across very good" or "Oh, I was too harsh." I'm guilty. I've said it before, I am a very Type A -- hurry, hurry get it done now. A "do-it-better-kind-of-person you know? That is a Type A personality, and we're not very nice sometimes.
