Why Do Anti-Fans Love to Hate Celebrities So Much?I prefer to focus on the positives of being a fan. In fact, it's generally healthier and more fun to focus on all life's positives. xoxox BM
Obsessive haters, or anti-fans, share many of the same traits as obsessive fans, says Stuart Fischoff, a senior editor of the Journal of Media Psychology and a specialist in fan obsessions. "People need something on which to focus their attention. … The adrenaline gets pumping for hating as much as loving. The hate-love situation are two sides of the same coin," he said. Being an anti-fan, he said, has one advantage over being a fan: It's more fun. "A celebrity becomes a star to focus on with the telescope of boredom," Fischoff said.
"Coteries on the net can join together in hating and dissing, and that's much more fun," he said. If a celebrity is big enough to have a fan club, she's probably big enough to have an anti-fan club as well. Talk about going to the "dark side!"
FILE under: Where the hell is the proof of this?? Kate Gosselin Sues Her Ex For $125K Showbizspy.com
KATE Gosselin is suing her ex-husband for child support! The reality TV star wants $125,000 in back child support from Jon Gosselin — with whom she has eight children — even though he is struggling to pay the bills.“She makes several million dollars a year and has free things thrown at her and the kids — if anything, she should be paying Jon child support!” a source told In Touch Weekly magazine.“It is a shock to everyone that she still insists Jon pay her money, when his focus needs to be on providing what he can for the kids during his custody.
“Her attempts to sue Jon are just ways she tries to control everything around her because she’s still angry about their failed marriage. “Kate is so cheap, at least when it comes to the kids: She has TLC pay for their food, clothes and travel on days they film.“She’s frugal when it comes to the kids, but she has no qualms about spending money on herself. “Jon’s paid back $80,000 this year so far and the court ordered him to pay around $22,000 a month.“That amount was based on his potential earning, which has changed so much since TLC has limited the amount of media work he can do — and that’s how Jon was making his living. Before their series ended, they both were making hundreds of thousands of dollars on appearances and media deals. Between the two of them, they must have made millions. But they spent the money as fast as they earned it.”
Aren't the kids "self-supporting?"
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon Marie- As a new commenter, please realize this is a pro Kate fan site. If you'd like to read, and keep this in mind, then welcome. As a supporter of anti Kate sites, if you are looking for another forum to bash Kate, those comments probably won't fly here. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteGood morning all. I'm surprised at the folks that think Jon should pay no child support. I do feel it should be proportional to his earnings, be they from twitter or other earnings. I could be crass and say that if he can afford cigarettes, he can afford child support.
ReplyDeleteThe money doesn't get used to buy things for Kate, it goes to the kids for use now if needed or for future such as books in college, etc.
Paying child support has nothing to do with Kate's earnings. A non custodial parent pays support until kids are 18 or until they finish college depending on the agreement.
As for the idiotic statement that Kate should pay Jon child support, gosh are people that dumb? No custodial parent pays child support to a non custodial parent. Duh! He could try suing for alimony, but I think he'd probably get laughed out of court.
I wonder if he knows he has to pay taxes on twitter earnings and any contributions from fans? Ah, that's another issue.
Linda, How was Sharon Marie's comment a bash against Kate? The kids are on the show too, right? The rules around here are getting hard to keep up with.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a slow news week in GosselinNews land InTouch was due to make up something. I don't believe ANYTHING in that magazine, especially about Jon. The source about him? I think the $ they earn should go to the kids. They are the ones selling out the kids, not Kate.
ReplyDeleteWow, Linda, what a topic for debate here. You know I can't leave this one alone, but I have a busy week ahead and just enough time for some short foot notes. It might give posters more insight to the subject. LOL!
ReplyDeleteEach State has their own way of calculating child support and then collecting. I can only talk about MI because that is where my experience had been.
J&K amount of CS was based on both their earnings from the show. Jon now has the responsibility to get the courts to change that based on his real bills and income.
Kate has a right to challenge it, but in PA they might go after non-custodial parents automatically if they are in arrears. No attorney fees would be needed for Kate to do this.
In MI both parents incomes are taken into consideration. Both of them were working at the time of the divorce and their incomes were included. I think PA should do it the same way. Monthly cost of care and support to keep the children in the same level of care that they have been accustomed to. I think that's what they call it.
Linda, your statement about future monies for college books and things. I don't know about that. Support is calculated on present expenses. I guess if a person is making millions, a court could make them put some of it away for the future.
Speaking of the future: Kate + 8 earnings should be divided differently IMO. The children need more of that money put aside for their futures. IMO, then J&Ks' earnings need to be considered for the support. Proof of the kids acct. need to be presented to the courts , not us.
It's a very sticky situation and I do think the courts should look at all income of both parents. The kids are the ones getting the short end of the stick. IMO
So really, I think Kate's ability to work and earn an income will be taken into consideration. Gotta go. CU
I too think Jon should pay child support. I don't care how much Kate is making. If Jon has kids, he should be contributing towards their future.
ReplyDeleteOk I just have to say that I am still a Kate fan, but I saw this on our local entertainment news today:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ksl.com/?nid=155&sid=13542257
And it doesn't sound like it is coming from a Kate-hating perspective. I think she did have a little freak out in Alaska, but still have to wait until it airs to actually see how it really all went down.
Ain't it the truth LindaO! I bet those who are saying Jon shouldn't have to pay are those faithful "child advocates" that hate on Kate and say she is abusing the kids!
ReplyDeleteJust shows they really are not concerned for the children...and this admission shows that they know Kate WILL PROVIDE for those kids.
Kate never asked for spousal support! It's child support. They are his kids and he has a moral and legal responsibility to provide for them!
Let's face it...the Kate naysayers will give Jon a pass on everything. He has sat on his rear end for the good part of two years now...just collecting checks from TLC. He's done nothing to rebuild his earning skills and has burned through hundreds of thousands of dollars on his own wants and pleasures.
And this story about him having an IT job is still just that a story. No confirmation that he is truly woking at anything!
Good morning eveyone! Ali let me just say, that Kate is well, KIND having to deal with this camping trip. That haters will eat it up, blame and attack Kate as usual. But I have actually been to Alaska and I was miserable in the woods and NOT in the pouring freezing rain!
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin does her best chipper cheerleader impression. After all this is her state and her show. She IS running for office again right? This girl can sell anything! Even Alaska on the most miserable of days. Kate being Kate, is well, Kate. And thats why I love her.
As far as moderation this morning..what is it about a poll that brings all the trolls bright and early to the site?? It was a floodgate this morning. I guess it's true that this IS the first site they ome to every morning to get their daily Kate Gosselin fix!
Love her or hate her, they will still watch. So thank you anti-Kate lovers..and welcome! :)
Baby Mama,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I go back to saying that I never have thought Kate was perfect, but real, and with enough good qualities that I am a fan. If anything, this kinda puts all of those "scripted" rumors to bed. Like you said, she is who she is.
Lori Anne - Sharon Marie is a regular follower and commenter on sites that frequently bash Kate. (Click on her name in the comment and you can see the sites she follows.) I merely wanted to set the record straight "ahead of time" before things got out of hand.
ReplyDeleteMany comments were deleted between 1:30 and 4:00 am this morning. As soon as folks started thinking Baby Mama was "allowing" the anti fan folks to post, they jumped in full steam. We left Sharon Marie's and deleted 18-22 others.
Rules haven't changed. You can't use vile profanity. You can't tell us we are all stupid because we are fans of Kate. If you call Kate vile names, it gets deleted.
Does that help explain. When somebody new comes, we try to explain things to avoid hurt or angry feelings.
Additionally, just for the record, I would not call the Gosselin kids self supporting. They are earning an income that by court decree cannot be used now but will be maintained for their use once they reach adulthood. But that's JMO.
Caregiver - You are familiar with MI laws, I'm familiar with NC and FL. I'm not familiar with PA other than in general. S
ReplyDeleteI do know some states order child support paid to the court (not directly to the custodial parent.) Should the non-custodial parent (e.g. Jon) not pay, the court takes action, either bringing suit or setting a court date for the non-custodial parent (e.g. Jon) to present evidence as to why their support payments should be reduced. Conversely, a custodial parent (e.g. Kate) can go back to court if they feel the non-custodial parent's income has significantly changed.
However, I am neither an attorney nor a specialist in family law, so what do I know.
I do feel that no parent should have to pay beyond their means. If Jon has gone through his settlement because of mostly paying all of it in child support, of course he couldn't pay more now. If he's blown it on partying and good times and has other assets, then I also feel the court should go after it. But, again, that is up to a court and the parents involved. Certainly not for me to decide. Nor, do I really think it's any of my business.
Even so, the blogs seem out of control again. Today I've heard all kinds of completely ludicrous headlines:
"Kate is suing Jon for $125 million" (yeah you can't get blood from a turnip so how is this believable?)
"Kate spent all of her money so now she's going after Jon" (So how would anybody know? Shoes, fake bakes, and where we've seen her would in no way erase the $3 mill she earned in last year.)
Other headlines are just as dumb. How would anybody be a source for what they monetarily have unless it is an accountant for one of them.
Hi Ali - Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteAfter watching last night's "Sarah Palin's Alaska," I am absolutely overjoyed that I was NOT on that camping trip or experience!
I can't wait to see the program with Kate. Sending a mostly city girl to Alaska to camp was probably not the best idea. Most folks, I dare say, think of camping in campgrounds that are somewhat civilized and not in remote, more primitive conditions. They don't think of having to confront wild animals, shoot their food, etc.
I'm not sure I'd want moose meat hot dogs (I didn't like 'gator hot dogs, and I didn't like other kinds made out of "parts." I'm spoiled and I want all beef hot dogs or all veggie hot dogs.)
If I had to watch them render the moose, like they did the caribou last night with the shooting, gutting, processing and all that gore of guts, skin, and blood, I think I'd have lost it BIG time. I don't think I'd have made it with the fish that had to be clubbed to death before they were processed either.
I'm respectful of the tough and hearty Alaskans who are able to survive 300 miles from a grocery store and who hunt, fish, package and freeze most of their food for the year. WTG Alaskans! BUT, merciful heavens, PLEASE do NOT send me or my family there to do the same.
I also thought the crud about "Kate cried" is just junk. I'd have cried, thrown up, gathered all my kids and been running away. And for the record, the nice woman whose camp area the Palin crew visited last night, CRIED when they left because she wouldn't see other people for the next 9 months. Please don't leave me there either!
One more thought...
ReplyDeleteAnd what does anybody think the anti fan blogs would have said about Kate if she had grabbed the rifle and struck out hunting and shooting? Of if she'd said, "Well bring on the bears 'cause I'll take them on single handedly."
I can't wait for this episode. I have a feeling I'll cry during a lot of it it. Sadness for Kate along with pure joy that I personally didn't have to endure that!
Kate cried in the plane when it was stuck going to Utah, she just has that reaction sometimes and TLC loves to use it, they still show it in flashbacks. The big differences between Alaska and the lower 48 point to exactly why some people question Sarah's abililty to lead in national politics. What works in Alaska doesn't necessarily work here.
ReplyDelete80% of will will respond with tears to any emotion 100% of the time. The fact that Kate was crying is a natural reaction and it bothers me that, still to this day, we see it as weakness or being a diva. I go camping in remote areas a lot and I love it. My mother-in-law won't go anywhere with a pit toilet. Should I force her to go pee in the woods, she would tie me up, throw me in the trunk, and drive me back to town, faster than the cameras would be able to film. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI agree Linda O- if Kate was shown hunting, the world would end. Kate is shown vulnerable and exposed and people hate her. What a world we live in.
that should say women will, not will will. LOL.
ReplyDeletetashapork - I can say that I was DVRing the Palin's Alaska series since some of mine are also studying Alaska this year. They were so upset over the fish clubbing from the previous episode that I can completely say they won't be watching last night's episode. I'm sure the blood and gore would upset them tremendously if it didn't also send them throwing up.
ReplyDeleteOkay folks, call my kids wimps also along with me, lol. We don't care. Just please don't send us camping there to catch our own food and don't send us to the farm to watch food rendering of animals there either. Please!
Oops! Forgot something.
ReplyDeleteBaby Mama and I are working on another recipes post, per requests.
We've considered having Baby Mama prepare some of these and including photos, but we're not really sure that will work. (Actually, I love ya Baby Mama, but I'm not positive I want to see photos of what you've prepared. Hmmm...)
We thought maybe in addition to recipes from Kate, that it might be fun also to include favorite "easy" holiday recipes from you, the readers and commenters! So....please send those recipes to Baby Mama in the next few days if you want to be included! Send them with your screen name so we can say, contributed by "YOU!"

Hi Linda!
ReplyDeleteNow I regret saying all that to Linda this morning. I think I was high! FYI My husband wants to tape it and put it up on You Tube for a good laugh, I may just stick w/photos ;)
ReplyDeleteMy morning was a hot mess. My husband forgot to put a big box away from the Disney Store and the baby found it. She's been running around screaming at the top of her lungs & crying for almost an hour.
I need a new secret hiding spot. You all have to give me some good ideas. I took my cue from that Friends episode where Monica hid the presents in the trunk, but I have no more room help!
Linda, I agree with you completely, I like my food at the store, packaged and ready to cook. I am kind of surprised that TLC is focusing so much on blood and guts, I skip through those parts.
ReplyDeleteIf these anonymous sources would shut up, it would go a long way toward helping the kids. Child support belongs in court and its sad because it gets messy when emotions get mixed in and its another way that Kate is soo similar to other divorced moms. Dad feels mom is spending the money getting clothes for herself and manicures, mom feels that dad has no clue how much it takes to raise the kids and if dad can go to clubs he could afford to pay more, etc. In the Gosselin situation, you have Jon trying to block Kate's income stream and Kate's income stream contractually related to Jon's, at least in his perception. It gets nasty and the anonymous sources make it even more nastier.
Regarding all the child support payments: The parents incomes are always considered. Where else would they come up with an amount? There is a calculation that includes CP income and NCP income along with time each parent spends with the children.
ReplyDeleteRegarding custodial parents paying child support to non custodial parents: My husband has had custody of his 3 children for 10 years. He makes 4 times the amount his ex wife makes, and she has visitation with the boys every other weekend and half the summer. My husband does currently and always has paid HER child support. Yes, a custodial parent pays a non cusotdial parent child support because the court says he has to ensure that when the kids are with her she is able to provide them with shelter, food, and their other needs such as electricity, etc. Sure, she could go out and earn more, but why should she when we supplement her income??? Jon has a very good chance of getting child support from Kate. They are not only HIS kids to support, they are HER kids to also support, and that means support when they are with her or not with her. Jons money should go to supporting the kids when they are with him, not giving Kate additional money to further support the kids when they are with her. As has been proven and as we see every time they are on TV... I think she is able to provide for the kids when they are with her.
Regarding the kids being self sufficient and the money the kids make not being able to be used bu court decree: Yes Kate is able to use the money from the trust funds to pay for the kids current needs such as housing, education, and other household bills. My issue with this is if Kate can use the kids income to pay her household bills, then Jon should be able to as well.
Jon has not been properly represented and/or has not fought enough for fairness. No one wants Kate to do more then Jon, but it seems as though everyone expects Jon to do far more than Kate. Look, if Jon had the TV show and Kate had gone back to being a nurse, are you kidding me that you all would not be railing Jon to pay 6 figures to Kate? Just because she is the woman, she is still the bread winner and things like that are simple mathematics, no feelings involved. As long as Jon has custody time with his kids, and Kate earns many times over what Jon does in a year, Kate should pay Jon. That is not an argument about hating Kate, it is simple logic and math.
Hmmm I'm in doubt on the ballot, I think so, Jon must pay an income to help Kate there with eight more ... do not know if I guess right of her to want $ 125,000, do not know what that's worth in real , which is my money here, more money seems very ... Jon got a job that we do not know how much is the salary and perhaps for the financial condition of Kate is perhaps a little exaggeration but I think he should make an effort by children.
ReplyDeleteInterresante this post about anti-fan, it made clear that the haters have serious mental problems and I prefer no doubt be fans and spread love ... Good for them while we are here to defend the Gosselin's what matters ... it has a saying,''speak evil, speak more of me!''Kate should think so to not get stressed lol.
the best hiding places are as follows, at a store on layaway, oh wait stores don't hardly offer it any more, oops, at Grandmas' house, at a friend's house, and you can agree to hide their stuff at yours, this works well when you have different aged or gendered kids. When forced to hide things at home, focus on places your child doesn't like to go like behind the cleaning supplies, (also a great place for hubby's gift, if he isn't a neatnick), I also have a tendency to rebox things in a blender box for instance so it's harder to guess.
ReplyDeleteMisty - hmmmm. I cannot find a single state (including CA) where family courts have ruled for a non-custodial spouse to be paid child support. Nada. Are you in CA?
ReplyDeleteJust for the record, of course incomes are factored in when support amounts are set. I don't think anybody expects Jon to pay more than Kate. Surely, I don't. The question becomes, should he get a free ride and not contribute anything?
Another question. Does your husband's ex-wife co-habitate? Why in heck should Kate pay for living arrangements for Jon's "cohabitater?" Did your husband's ex-wife take live-together partner #1 on a trip to France where they filmed themselves having a "grand" old time? Did your husband's ex-wife take friends skiing and pick up the tab? Did she take extra friends along when she had a work gig in Vegas because she wanted the friends to have a good time? Or did she take extra friends along when she had other Casino work gigs? Or did she take her "friend" along to booze and smoke it up in a bar in DC?
No excessive payments should be required from Jon! Period! I do not at all feel that is fair! But NO free rides for Jon either! Otherwise, the man will always Twitter and video game away his time and money. Why should he work if he can get a free ride!
As far as your debate about his legal representation...Duh? WTH? He had a most competent family law attorney licensed to practice in PA. The man and firm have sterling reputations. Jon fired them to get the high profile Heller who had zero family law practice and wasn't licensed in PA; I don't think any attorney can "make" a client use a brain. I'll grant that this was a very poor choice on Jon's part. Then Jon hired his father's former friend, the former super high profile attorney with a ton of experience and a sterling reputation; Jon fired him because supposedly the attorney was making statements Jon didn't sanction. I have no idea (don't remember) who represented Jon during the last two visits to court that Jon initiated.
Perhaps the problem is that: 1) Jon has zero idea who's legally competent, i.e. don't hire an entertainment attorney to represent you in family court.) 2) Jon needs to listen to the attorney and accept his advice.
If court does not rule they way we want, do we just initiate proceeding after proceeding "hoping" things will change.
I truly want to see Jon productive, happy, etc. I don't think soliciting contributions from readers to go back to court again because you've screwed up is the way to do it.
Linda O said:

---------------
I agree!
tashapork - Those are fantastic hiding place suggestions! I too use the recycled boxes. My kids have zero urge to investigate what's in the mixer and blender and toilet paper boxes (yeah we buy that by the carton) My hubby thinks that's nutty so glad I'm not the only one who does that, lol; he thinks if the box isn't being used right that second, throw it out!
ReplyDeleteWe also have an attic with a key, so that helps.
First of all there are two unknowns here:
ReplyDelete1. Whether Jon really has a job or not. Sending twitter adds and relying on change from his Spiffbox site would not be considered real, consistent income. There is nothing concrete to show that Jon really has a job.
2. We don't know that Kate has sued for any back child support. This could just be a made up story to make Kate look vindictive and harness some sympathy for Jon.
We do know that Kate stated back in Sept. of this year that she is the sole provider of support for the kids. I think that was just a means to let the public know that the court appointed fund of child support money had run dry.
She said nothing there to indicate any desire to go after Jon about that. Just the fact that she needed to keep working in behalf of the kids and herself.
Just because Kate has worked hard and has remained moral and cooperative with TLC guidelines, does not lessen Jon's responsibility here.
She played by the rules...networks have acknowledged she is a hard worker...so the money she has earned is rightfully hers and her children.
Jon has done nothing to truly even move in the direction of gainful employment. He continues to publicly embarrass his kids through these "inside sources" stories.
And for this the public thinks he deserves a pass on child support! Wow, where has our sense of justice gone?
Or perhaps, when it comes to Kate, people don't care about justice. Seems the haters just won't be happy til Kate is financially ruined and scrubbing floors somewhere for a living. Who cares if the kids have to discontinue their private education...they have to move into public housing...and wait for govt. food stamps and welfare checks?
Because...that's the way it would be if Kate were to fail. These kids could never depend on Jon for sustenance and care.
Sorry folks. We have exceeded bandwidth again. Looking for a fix or patch.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see the blurb on the today show where they showed a clip of Kate on Sarah Palin's Alaska? Then the today show people made comments about Kate not being a roughing it kind of person or something like that.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very random. What did you all think?
Do you think the Today show fishing for negative comments?
ReplyDeleteI took the Today Show comment as just commentary. Kate isn't a "roughing it" kind of girl. I don't think too many girly girls would make it with the bears and rendering meat. Not me! Camping, but not primitive. Those who can, great.
ReplyDeleteThe anti fan blogs are now comparing Kate's Alaska camping to her rudeness to Steve Thomas on the Gosselins Go Green episode. WTH. Kate was never rude to Steve Thomas on that show. He wanted her to go up on the roof in a cherry picket and then walk around. She expressed 4 times that she had a fear of heights and didn't want to go. She did eventually go (what a good sport) but on the top gripped the bucket sides and said she was ready to go down. How the heck is that rude?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the whole program with Palin. Just snippets. They are promos. They aren't the whole program. Whatever happened to actually seeing it first! Oh wait...I forgot...that's what they do and make up the rest.
So if they went to a Polynesian island where they walk on fire coals, would Kate be rude if she didn't do it? Or parachute from a plane? Or wade through alligators or snakes? Or do class 4 white water rapids? Or drive a race car at 200 miles an hour?
She's not an outdoors woman.
Kate and Steve Thomas had some banter, but I think she was just being playful and funny. I did not think it was rude either. I laughed when Meredith said something about Kate not looking like she enjoyed it much. Duh! Has anyone watched Kate camp in the backyard. She made the kids go inside and bathe after making s'mores. She's never really camped.
ReplyDeleteKayla - oh I so agree.
ReplyDeleteAli - Waves to you. Forgot to do that yesterday. ~~~~
To the folks on Twitter who send me nasty notes - and let me know you read here - why oh why would you waste your time following (and then responding to) somebody you don't like? That's just plain nutty. I don't respond to you there, and I never will here again. Life is too short to waste it doing things you don't like. Duh.
For those getting the 503 error again. (It's going to take me days to find and fix. By then, there'll be a new post, so...) It's a glitch that is in the blogger template. When things get added on the right column or moved, blogger can't handle the code in current form. (We love Baby Mama, and like many decorators, she's always going to make changes and shifts in that right hand column, no matter how often Linda screams and has tantrums! So, we are going to smile and try to deal with it. :) ;) She's the diva, so love her and try the following:
ReplyDelete1. Type your comment.
2. Click on Post Comment.
3. You'll get rerouted to the "About 503" error message.
4. Hit the back arrow on the top of your browser.
5. You'll see it looks like the text is still there and didn't post. It did. To find out...
6. Now hit the refresh page arrow.
7. You should see your comment posted then. :) If still not working, email me.
How come bogs don't give away big presents like tv shows? That was an email question I actually got.
ReplyDeleteI just mostly handle computer/Internet questions, folks. The "big" issues like thequestion above, lol, please send to Baby Mama. Thanks.
Yeah, I know. I wish we had big prizes also but I'd want to win them also! Oprah gives away cars & trips to Australia. Rachael Ray gives away iPods. Martha Stewart gives away sewing machines, etc. Oh well, that's life.
OMGG i live in ON Canada and its been snowing non stop for 4 days this being the 5th and theres like 4 feet of snow :D yesterday i had a snow day and today is also a snow day :D im so happy!! i love snow:D ......tlc was dumb to send kate camping in alaska obvi shes gonna meltdown , there making her look bad ugh! !!
ReplyDeleteLO - Only 15% of the monies that the children earned has been ordered into their accounts. Kate is allowed to use it for medical, dental, and education also. The rest is hers to use for additional support like: food, clothing, entertainment and etc. $250,000.00 Gross per epsisode of Kate + 8 is enough to support the whole family. JMO I think her her income and the kids income should be taken into consideration when determining the amount of support Jon should pay.
ReplyDeleteI also think Jon should automatically put his support monies into a locked trust that neither parent can touch. Kate doesn't need the money.
#1Caregiver - I'd personally have no problem with that at all. Would court approve? I have no idea. I don't think Jon should just get a "bye" to do nothing. Putting it into a trust account would be great. Do we know that Kate isn't doing that? I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteI know that the court (not me) hauled my ex's butt back to court for not paying support. His rationale was that my income was so much higher that I didn't need the money. Court disagreed. I put every penny he paid into trusts for kids future. That was my call. I had to document how used and court was fine with it going into trustsI had a feeling he wouldn't pay half the court ordered college tuition when the time came and he didn't. Well he did pay part, but was from the child support that had gone in trust.
Misty - hmmmm. I cannot find a single state (including CA) where family courts have ruled for a non-custodial spouse to be paid child support. Nada. Are you in CA?
ReplyDelete****Yes, I live in CA, and I am living that so I absolutly know it happens. They use a automated computer program, and to prove my honesty I would be willing to email you a website with a child support calculator, my husbands income, his ex wifes income, and their time share, and let you see that it does in fact spit out the calclation that the court used which makes my husband, the custodial parent, pay. Let me know how to PM you the information.
Just for the record, of course incomes are factored in when support amounts are set. I don't think anybody expects Jon to pay more than Kate. Surely, I don't. The question becomes, should he get a free ride and not contribute anything?
****Jon is not getting a free ride if he is supporting the kids when they are with him. A free ride would be not seeing his kids and not contributing. He has to provide for the kids when they are with him and I don't consider that a free ride.
****She does co-habitate and has for 4 years. She just moved into a 5 bedroom home. Of course the exact examples you gave have not happened, however more normal such things have. She has facebook photos up of her out at bars and clubs almost every weekend (even when the boys are at her house), she took a vacation to southern california for a week over the summer, she went to visit her father in Florida last Christmas, she also had a solicitation posting for working out of her home on the side that we had proof of her doing and receiving income for, none of which the court took into consideration. Oh, and yes, she took her boyfriend on all of the aforementioned trips.
No excessive payments should be required from Jon! Period! I do not at all feel that is fair! But NO free rides for Jon either! Otherwise, the man will always Twitter and video game away his time and money. Why should he work if he can get a free ride!
****$22,000 is extremely excessive. Especially considering that a couple years ago this family did not even make that amount of money all together in several months, and lived in an adequate home and provided just fine. I can't find any reason why Jon should have to continue to support a lifestyle that he does not live or want. If Kate wants to live a movie star lifestyle, that is great, but she should do it on her own and not expect Jon to pay these ridiculous expenses! IMHO.
Regarding the attorney comments, that is just my opinion. A lot of this stuff is so obvious and elementary that is is so hard for me to fathom why it is happening. It's almost like he can't stop being the victim, can't help himself. I just find it all so ridiculous, an uneducated IT tech who is court ordered not to seek a job in the entertainment industry is court ordered to make monthly child support payments in excess of what any IT tech would make in several months. All the compensation he received from the show and/or being bought out of the house has all gone back to Kate. It's insane.

I do believe that Jon has a responsibility to help support his kids...even if it is $20 a month. He shouldn't get off scott free because she makes more money, she didn't have the kids on her own, why does she have to support them on her own? It is possible that the money should go into an account for the kids, but who am I to say? It is none of my business what she does with her money, just as it is no one's business how I spend MY money. I hope for the children's sake that she is planning for their future, she always says that she is so I have to assume that she is truly doing so. Some are so quick to judge her and her family when really we have no idea what goes on in their lives, we only see a short 30-60 minute segment that is taped over a period of days. They can show us whatever they want during that time and we take it as the truth, even when something could be taken out of context just to conjure up more viewers. I wish the family all the success they can handle!!!
ReplyDeleteMisty - please, you do not need to send me anything to prove anything. I said I couldnt find a single example in US (although did find 2 in UK and one in Switzerland.)
ReplyDeleteJon still is being represented by an entertainment agent. That would seem to indicate to me that he's still hopeful that despite any perhaps current job, he is still trying to land a job in tv! Why else continue to retain the agent for yourself? A different agent from one representing Kate and kids.
He had a limited IT job, I.e. No formal training but many learn on the job. This he got via his late father and he wasn't able to retain the job. As for his web design abilities, he didn't even do the old sixgosselins website; an outside company did. He worked for a hotel as a valet pre Kate and for a furniture company. Nothing wrong with any of those as jobs.
Jon also got money from the divorce settlement. What happened to it? We dont know except for some published trips, etc. His to spend but the guy clearly needs a financial adviser with tight reins. The man can't afford $10k a pop with a "life coach" either at least not one who doesn't produce! He seems to be clueless about money management. I'd be really reluctant to let him get his hands on any of the kids' money except, in a case where he provided receipts and documentation and was reimbursed after the fact after review.
I do feel sorry for him in many regards; unfortunately I think he's brought much on himself. He really does appear to have an attitude of "Can't tell me what to do!" then when it blows up it seems to become "well it's somebody elses fault!"
For the record, Jon's contract with TLC is over. He's pretty much free to find his dream tv job, but I don't think there are offers on the table. He stated he wanted to do DWTS since Kate did. It isn't TLC saying no but ABC.
Good afternoon to all my wonderful Divas & new commenters welcome! So sorry I have been MIA these past few days. Between work, holiday shopping & parent teachers conferences I haven't been able to get here. I am completely blessed to have Linda here on this blog to oversee everything!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see the discussion about Jon and the child support issues. I know many people hat read here are going through similar issues. I love the fact that we can all voice our thoughts on this and respect each others opinions. It will be interesting to see what the judge decides on this matter. Regardless of who he is, and who his wife is and what she's making, I feel he needs to pay cult support.
And I am writing this on my phone today. So you know a few words will probably be messed up! Xoxo
The bottom line is he is not makng anywhere near what Kate makes. She is capable of providing for the kids when they are with her and he is capable of providing for the kids when they are with him. What they do with their money isn't our concern and Im not really making it mine. We don't know the truth or what is going on, but in my opinion Jon should not be paying Kate a dime. He supports those kids when they are with him. That is doing his part. Any money Jon pays to Kate harms him far more than it helps her. It also harms the kids more than it helps them because it makes their father less able to provide for them on his custody time, but it really doesn't help Kate at all. Taking $20 a month from someone who makes $5,000 a month to give to someone who makes $250,000 a month? Taking $22,000 a month from someone who makes $5,000 a month and giving it to someone who makes $250,000 a month? This makes no sense and IS NOT in the kids best interest.
ReplyDeleteAlso if Jon is out of contract but cannot get a job in entertainment is the same as saying I am free to go out and get a job in entertainment. If it can't happen it is ludicrous to make a judgement as though it can. People need to understand that what actually is is different from what might be, what was, or even what we wish were so. What is fact is that Kate makes $250,000 per episode and Jon makes many times over less than that doing something. That is the only thing that should matter in figuring out child support payments.
Coming from our experience, yes I detest giving any money to our boys mother, however I at least know that when the boys are over there they have heat, beds, and food. My husband and I know we provide for the kids and that is what parents do. Shouldn't Kate be more concerend that when her kids are with their father he is able to feed them? Shouldn't she want him to maybe have a house where they can maybe have a few more rooms or maybe a yard to play in? Shouldn't it be her goal to make sure the kids are provided for at both of their homes?
I've been living and dealing with this sort of thing a long time and my opinion is that the best thing a parent can do to facilitate a healthy co-parenting relationship and doing what is best for the kids is to say "You provide when they are at your house, I will provide when they are at my house, you don't need to pay me and vice versa." No one needs to have such excess.
Misty - part of my first paragraph got cut off. Was trying to say not calling you liar and don't send anything. Was just trying to say I couldn't in my research find an example in any state. Individual rulings are not generally available in Lexis/Nexxus unless result of an appeal or higher court ruling. Also, I'm not an attorney and certainly not an authority on family law.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't live in CA. I would have gone back to court if I'd encountered that with an ex who flagrantly flaunted things.
I do differ from Kate there. While I was horrified that the financial rulings in my own case became published in the newspaper, given what Kate endures, I think in some ways it might be easier for both Gosselins if that happened. However, in their case, the tabloids publish whatever they want regardless of the truth, so maybe not.
I feel so strongly about what I'd do differently from Kate, I've even worked on a draft of a post, but it my never see the light of day.
----------
Don't forget folks. Early yesterday morning we asked if you had favorite recipes to send them to Baby Mama. I know later in the day another proKate blog did something similar. There's no reason why both blogs can't have a holiday recipes post. I'm sure they would end up very different in perspective with different readers and commenters. :) Many of us enjoy recipes.
Misty - perhaps that's why not us as the court of opinion make rulings, but legal courts make rulings. I don't know what Jon nor Kate do or do not have financially. Nor do I have any idea what's been spent on what. We were "told" that child support was substantially reduced in one court visit.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I cannot imagine a court ruling $22k when someone has no income. All we really have is speculation.
If Jon had been acting like a real father and concerned parent, he would have immediately taken steps to get himself some active, regular employment.
ReplyDeleteJon has done nothing to exert himself physically in this regard. He never really worked a steady job even while married to Kate.
He has a job history that would not impress any employer.
Kate on the other hand has always been a go-getter. She has an excellent work history...TLC loves her and so do other networks.
Jon had ample funds after the marriage settlement to purchase a decent size home for his kids to be with him during visitation.
Instead Jon choose to travel all over the world, purchased expensive cars and wined and dined numerous women.
So now you want Kate to foot the bill for Jon and a nice house?
You want Kate to supplement him so he can splurge on the kids?
I think not! He's not disabled...he's lazy! He feels entitlement...he's done nothing but try to sabotage Kate and her reputation with all these hurtful tweets he put out and the leaking tabloid stories!
Man up Jon! Be responsible. Set an example for your kids. Scripture says...man who does not care for his own household, is a man without faith and has disowned the faith.
I be darned if I would live in California if that is how they think!
Anti-Fans, miserable and sick !!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy mental health is being amended know? not take it anymore, ENTER THE BLOG OF KATE AND SEE ANON AND ETC ..... they irritate me seriously, the worst is not knowing how Kate handles this .... because they were not hospitalized soon huh?? ?
whew sorry madness overwhelms me sometimes LOL
"So now you want Kate to foot the bill for Jon and a nice house?"
ReplyDelete"You want Kate to supplement him so he can splurge on the kids?"
I never ever said that. What I said was Jon should be able to use the money he makes to provide for his kids when they are with him. Please don't change my words or put words in my mouth or change what I said to reflect something different. Never did I allude to either one of those two statements.
haters please go away .. this is gosselin family FAN site NOT hate site
ReplyDeleteMisty - You are a newbie commenting here and I don't think anybody here really wants to argue with you, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteBut, actually, you did say that when you said "Jon has a very good chance of getting child support from Kate. They are not only HIS kids to support, they are HER kids to also support, and that means support when they are with her or not with her. "
You went on to say other things but you did say the above.
jacquie - Please don't go reading at some of those places. They will warp your mind, lol. You are completely allowed, of course, to choose to be a Jon fan, a Kate fan, or a whatever fan.
ReplyDeleteThis is a proKate site. :)
KateFan01 - I dont think Misty is openly expressing hate for Kate.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is frustrating! She's more of a Jon fan than Kate fan but that's ok if she's not bashing Kate.
Frustrating, yes. I checked on rental houses and 3bedroom/2 bath apartments in Reading. Gee. For what Jon blew on one of the uber expensive champagne bottles in Vegas that the club refused to comp he could have paid the rent for a whole month. It's a judgment/maturity issue.
You can't force somebody to be wise, fiscally sound or mature. You can hope it will one day come. I won't stop hoping!!!
Jacque...Honey, I know what you are talkin' about! On Kate's personal blog..there are people saying such hurtful, mean things!
ReplyDeleteI too wonder how Kate can read all those horrible things and not be affected.
But Kate seems to have a mental toughness about her to ignore and put out of her mind alot of that foolishness that people spout off at her!
On DWTS...she said she didn't even remember alot of the harsh criticism the judges gave. She focused on the good comments.
So I am hoping she does that as well at her blog. I go there and write a positive thought...something supportive every time she posts. And I surely want to believe that it is those good comments she remembers!
I never said he should have a "nice house" - I said a house with a few more rooms than 1 for him and his eight kids, and I never suggested he should be able to "splurge on the kids" - I said provide for. I just said he should have means to support his kids when they are with him. I am not pro Jon or pro Kate, I just don't like to see people making blanket statements about what should be done when it comes to child support simply because they are pro one or the other. Everyone here wants Jon to pay Kate when he clearly is far less able than she is to provide for the kids just because they "like" Kate more? I come and make logical arguments and get called a hater? OOOOOK. Im not looking for an argument, I lurk here and have for a long time. Child support is an issue I am passionate about and something I know a lot about so I decided to delurk and add some knowledge and discussion to the board instead of watching the rah-rah party when what was being said really wasn't true.
ReplyDeleteI also think Jon splurged on himself when he thought he was a much bigger star then he ended up being, and at this point Kate could be called much more of a splurger than Jon. Neither one of them should be complaining about money troubles, they are both right where they willingly took themselves.
I assumed this was a place which welcomed discussion so long as it was polite. Perhaps I was wrong. I'm sorry.
I seriously do not get why they have to follow everything about her, just to trash her? If they really feel the kids are being harmed then do something legitimate and legal about it, quit posting and trashing her, it will get nothing done! They know they don't have a leg to stand on is why I guess...makes me sick!
ReplyDeleteBy the way Linda... didn't see you had an additional resposne - we have been back to court 14 times in 10 years, sometimes with an attorney and sometimes just with my own notes written and highlighted for my husband! When he got the support to nothing, she went on welfare and automatically got child support back, but this time everything we paid went directly to the state and she only got $50 of our money. It made more sense to us, if we were paying it anyway, for it to go to the kids. So we agreed to pay her a smaller amount than we had to pay welfare so she would go get a job and end up making more between that job and our child support than she did on welfare alone. She is a deadbeat mom who doesn't have custody and wants to punish us because we provide a good home for them and in her eyes took them from her. If we pay it willingly instead of fight her then we take the control away from her. Yes, she flaunts because she knows we see it and she wants us mad. We happily pay her the money, I even put smiley faces and kind notes in the memo section of the checks, and immdiatly become the bigger person who she can't upset and control. In the end, I still think I am the winner, I got the man, the kids, and the money!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLori - Yep, exactly. I think your very point is why so many here came to be Kate supporters.
ReplyDeleteShe makes me laugh, she's not afraid to try things where she may not succeed, and she's a doggone good sport to even consider some things. You know where you stand with her good or bad.
As I understand it, more than one who doesn't even know her in person has tried to report her for things based on hearsay, or even worse, on tabloids. IMO, if a person had proof of anything, even if it was just first hand observance but no physical proof, then morally and ethically, you go to the authorities, not to tabloids. If you are a teacher, physician, etc then you add a legal obligation to go to authorities.
IMO, to sell a story means you don't really give a rip about anything, or anybody but yourself. However, one of the past times when a tabloid got sued about another celeb, it was proved the whole thing was manufactured, a la the Carol Burnett story. They had confronted a friend who smiled and said "no comment." the tabloid tried to say because she smiled, it was confirmation. WTH. No comment means just that.
Misty - IMO, we all have our perspectives influenced by what we've experienced personally.
ReplyDeleteI'm infinitely relieved I don't live in CA!
Oops! the translation was strange in my last post!
ReplyDelete***
Linda! Do not worry my head is still intact in relation to this (I think!) LOL ... yes I read the negative things, because I already made my choice to be fan and nothing will change the world in my opinion, and I give good laugh with:''Kate''miserable and bitchy, that they hate so much lol ...
I'm a fan of Kate, and also a fan of Jon ... and despite everything, he's a good father in my opinion, and loves the 8, and that's what matters to me.
***
Firedup4kate! Kate surprises me know, I read Kate's blog from the beginning, and I guess I'm used to reading the ridiculous posts ...
But sometimes I feel anger and a desire at the same time to defend them, alas nobody hold me! LOL
MISTY, I am so glad you came on here and spoke up about your situation, so nice to read another person's opinion, like a breath of fresh air! I hope you don't stop posting, your comments are re-freshing. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay when I have time to blog, no one else is on and then when I am away, the comments are plentiful. LOL.
ReplyDeleteBJ I agree with your comment - we only see a short 30-60 minute segment that is taped over a period of days. That is very true.
Okay Baby Mama when you said “cult” support I had to laugh. Given that the haters probably think that Kate fans are part of some weird cult following, the fact that Jon would pay to support the kids in continuing this phenomenon is just a hoot.
FiredUp- well said to your 3:37 pm post. Well said.
Misty – I appreciate your comments. Although as you can see some people disagree with some of what you have to say; respectful, alternate views bring good discussion to the site.
Thank you Linda, Anastasia, and Fascinated :)
ReplyDeleteNo matter what any of us think, who we support, we should all say a prayer for the Edwards family tonight, they lost their mom, Elizabeth, today. What a difficult Christmas it will be for all of them this year.
ReplyDeleteAnnasasia - I hope you are feelng better. OMG, we actually agree on something. I feel the same way about the family of Elizabeth Edwards. How sad their Christmas will be. I was pleased that John came to be with her in the last few days of hervlast hospital visit. I pray for peace for those left behind.
ReplyDelete-----
Misty - You are welcome.
-----
BJ - Astute comment
-----
Firedup - Love ya my fellow belle!
-----
Jacque - your English is fine. Most of the time I kind of understand. You should be a fan of whomever you choose.
------
Fascinated - gee I know what you mean. I spent a day in silence trying to regain my voice. I just wanted to talk today, even if just with typing.
-----
Baby Mama - Hang in there. Psst. I accidentally (ha) saw a Laboutin shoe box in Hubby's closet but didnt lift the lid and peek. OMG if it is, I'm wearing them no matter how much my back hurts. Just watch me! They've been on my bucket list forever, bit I'm too cheap to buy them. If so, Christmas day I'll sleep in them. Ha! Oldest kids and family fly in Thurs-Sun, so heads up, I'll be mostly offline then.
huum Linda believes that good that (the English that is not mine but my google translator more okay I get it!)
ReplyDeletebecause what good I can be who I want to fan lol this is great.
~ Kisses girls have a great day tomorrow!
Well if you are away Linda, I might be the only one blogging this weekend. I never get the 503 error and my posts tend to go through, no problem. I can just see that this weekend the error message will be in full force and it will just be me and the haters blogging because we will have free access. LOL.
ReplyDeleteGood morning everyone! Never fear Baby Mama is here! Fascinated you can talk to me. I love a good chat, and I will try my best to be avail whenever Linda is not around or available. Thats the great thing about Blogging, you never need your actual voice. And I know that mine sucks, so computers work great for me.
ReplyDeleteIt the area of you "get what you pay for" I went downtown and got a pair of Laboutin's cousin..lets say her name is Boboutin 's lol. They were stunning. But I only wore them for 2 hours and I actually couldn't walk anymore. I had to borrow a pair of my friends shoes to go home. And one of the stones came off! So yes, lets save for the real stuff. :)
People that are not even in the Blogging world are excited to watch Sarah Palin's Alaska Sunday. So you know the ratings will be big for this one. Those two will be like Lucy and what's her name..it's gonna be great comical TV.
Cause Kate never disapoints! xoxoxo
Ohh and I WAS making a point about the shoes, it just wasn't clear. If you really want something, save and wait for it. It's the hottest rush when you do actually have the real thing. Don't buy cheap fakes. They don't last. I bought 3 fake Louis Vuitton bags at a purse party once, and they werent cheap. For that I could have bought a real one, and they fell apart after a while.
ReplyDeleteNo more Chinatown bags for me! haha
fascinated - Hey Girl. I will be monitoring things along with Baby Mama. :) Trust us, trolls comments won't be there long if at all.
ReplyDeleteI just am unlikely to comment much during the day but rather in early am and late pm.
It's the strangest thing on weekends...Comments are usually much fewer but actual site traffic remains pretty high. We're not sure what that means? Could be regular commenters are spending more time with family? Could be regular readers are still reading but still not commenting? Could be that trolls have no life so they continue to constantly read? We're just not sure, lol.
fascinated - I'm so delighted that you don't get 503 errors!!! Some of of regular commenters get them frequently. :(
ReplyDeleteCertain browsers are more likely to have problems in the log-in or comments than others. When I'm checking, I view on IE (2 versions), Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Some handle issues better than others, and through emails with regular commenters on their problems, I'm getting faster at knowing which browser is "stuck" and who knows? Maybe one day I can fix it faster!
Baby Mama - I hear you loud and clear on the knock-offs. I have major shoe issues in that one can feel really great late afternoon in the store but when I have to wear them two evenings later it can be agony. My hubs gets frustrated in that I just don't do pain, and thus have been known to scream out "find me a shoe store now!" on the way to a party. Then stop, dash in and find comfort rather than glitz.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay. The second hand charity stores gets a ton of my shoes that often haven't been worn more than 20 steps.
Additionally, if I find a pair that feel super, I call them back and order the same style in every color. That's my indulgence, lol.
Hello all....I so agree...Kate is going to put Sarah Palin's show on everybody's mind!
ReplyDeleteGood comparison Babymama about Lucy and Ethel (wasn't that her name?)...Kate will definitely be the "Lucy" character!
I will wait to see it all...but I surely understand Kate getting out of there. How unhospitable Sarah was to Kate! You don't feed a visiting guest "moose hotdogs"!
And who would expect a city gal...not fond of the woods type...to do well in the rain and cold?
They really put Kate in a no-win situation. If she had stayed...totally miserable, it would be a matter of time and the kids would probably become cold and uncomfortable as well. Then the haters would load their guns and talk about what a bad mother she is again...putting her kids through all of that.
And now that we know she decided to leave, she is being called a quitter and a spoiler of the kids camping trip!
I assure you Kate did what she felt was best! And it doesn't matter if she was with Sarah Palin or Queen of Sheba...Kate is Kate and she doesn't put on "airs" for anyone!
That's why I like my girl Kate!
Firedup - ITA!
ReplyDeleteTo the person who emailed about an error message that began bX-874qph - I have no idea about that one and neither does blogger. I will keep checking. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteLOL FiredUP, yes it's Lucy & Ethel. Too funny! What a great comparison!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can just imagine Lucille Ball standing there crying because something isn't going well. Now flash over to Kate crying in the rain... LOL. That is a funny comparison. Lucille's voice always grated on me and so does Kates. I can't wait to watch the episode.
ReplyDeleteThat is soo funny. Now I really want to watch it too!
ReplyDeleteLinda I get the bX-874qph error all the time, they just need to refresh usually or clear their cache like everything else on blogger.
ReplyDeleteCMo3 - Thank you. That's an error I hadn't gotten.
ReplyDeleteSo folks, refresh or clear cache. If there are more of you who don't know how to clear cache, email me with your browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc) and I'll send you step by step.
Good evening everyone.. i'm a bit late tonight since I let my daughter stay up tonight to watch The Polar Express on Disney. Of course we just finished homework now....So in Kate news, can someone tell me where Gossip Center gets their information from? lol
ReplyDelete"Kate Gosselin Gets a New Cut in NYCPosted Wednesday December 8, 2010 8:46 PM GMT Following a morning of shopping in Reading, Kate Gosselin packed her bags and headed off to New York City on Wednesday afternoon (December 8).
Escorted around by rumored love interest/bodyguard Steve Neild, the TLC reality star mom made a stop at the Ted Gibson Salon - emerging with a new haircut while at one point brushing her hair away from her face. Miss Gosselin has been commuting to and from Reading and the Big Apple as she tends to her ET "Skating with the Stars" correspondent duties.Doing quite well for herself through TLC and her other endeavors, the 35-year-old is estimated to have earned $3.5 million in 2010."

Ooh great pics!
ReplyDeleteBaby Mama - Sure I can, lol. I think they just buy photos and make up rest to go with them.
ReplyDeleteI've laughed so much at last two days of tabloids trying one upmanship!
First - Kate wants a man just like Todd Palin
Second - Kate was flirting and chasing Todd.
Third - Sarah better watch out for Todd around Kate.
Fourth - Kate is hoping to takeTodd and escape to new life in Alaska.
Fifth - Kate and Todd caught by Sarah and Kids.
Sixth - Kate endures all to be with Todd.
Seventh - Spurned Kate hopes Todd has a friend.
Eighth - Will Steve and Todd Duke it out over Kate? This time Sarah cries.
Ninth - Kate's Alaska tears due to not getting Todd
Tenth - Jon fights to keep kids from returning to Alaska with Kate
And it gets worse. WTH?
Yep, it sure sounds from the promos that Kate had such a grand time in Alaska that she just can't WAIT to go back! NOT! What utter imbeciles to write such drivel, except as comic relief.
Linda~ I'm having problems getting that 1st Sarah Palin pic to not bleed off the page. Can you help me fix it and make it smaller? thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd where is everyone elses Holiday recipes for me? I only have a few for the next post and I want a few more!
Baby Mama - I can reduce the photo tomorrow for you. Don't have that resize option in current photo apps on iPad; will need computer to Photoshop it.
ReplyDeleteYour list of tabloid fodder, confirms to me that Kate does not respond to the rumours because she knows that a lot of it is ridiculous and doesn’t deserve her time in responding. The haters scream out for her to respond, why would she, if you knew her you would know that they are so far beyond the truth they are laughable. Then if the story is near truth (kids no longer in school) it is too personal to respond to until everything has settled down and taken care of. Then Kate comes in and is able to clear up the air because it is over. I think she has every right to choose what she responds to and what she doesn’t. If it were I, I would actually be sending out bizarre rumours just to laugh about them.
ReplyDeleteAt my high-school reunion I listed for my job – couch potatoe. Then during the reunion somehow a rumour circulated that I had been in the army. All my close friends new me well enough to know that would never happen. We laughed for a long time and still do. The haters will hate you know matter what and those that get to know you will know the truth. Kate isn’t running for president (yet), she is a reality tv mom who has been fortunate enough to expand her career to include tv correspondent, author, great mom, etc. I do find it sad that the haters don’t care that Steve’s wife reads this stuff all the time and even though it is not true, it must add some stress and uncertainty to the relationship even if only for a second.
You go Kate
Fascinated - So true.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the latest rumor or Ellen referring to herself as stepmom?! I don't think she's naive enough or insensitive enough to do that when she isn married to Jon. Just shows the lengths to which rumor mills will go.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the anti fans are also upset over Fitness magazine naming Kate one of the best celeb bodies. WTG Kate!
Ugh, annoying when this thing changes words.
ReplyDelete*or= of
*isn= isn't
Then there's INF's latest audit comments of Kate jetting off to NY for a $2k haircut. 1. Don't think there's jet service from PA to NY. 2. Ted doesn't charge that much (they can't be bothered checking facts) 3. It's Kate's money from DWTS, hosting E! etc.
ReplyDeleteLindaO - Regarding Kate's trip to NY...I saw on ROL yesterday someone who lives near Kate said a stretch limo pulled out of her gate in the early afternoon. So that would be the most likely mode of transportation...not a jet! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Ted Gibson is tied to TLC and I don't doubt that TLC picks up the tab for Kate getting her hair done.
I find too that when Kate goes to NY, she usually multi-tasks...in other words, she had another reason for being there besides the haircut.
Who knows what our girl is up to next? She's never idle and usually busy planning ahead for her next venue, whatever that may be.
She won't be sitting on her couch playing "Farmville" or twittering that's for sure!
I also read something related to friends of Ellen to call the''stepmother years''..., hope that this nickname is not a joke in relation how it treats its children, because the stories are cruel stepmothers, and that nickname strikes me as ironic
ReplyDeleteI think she's good and kind to the 8 or otherwise it is sworn to death by the fans! hahaha 'LOL
****
I liked the new hairdo Kate actually do not think has changed much more beautiful she is anyway ... Kate one of the celebrities with the best bodies? Ingul it now haters!
****
have a wonderful day!
Hey Ladies!
ReplyDeleteGreat discussion, although I really have way too many things I should be doing, I had to read it all :0
Unfortunately, that only leaves me with a quick minute to post before I have to meet the bus. I'll try to get back later.
Misty..Welcome, my perspective is the opposite of yours, but I do thank you for sharing. I can understand how frustrating it must be. I get frustrated that my new husband is doing all the providing, financially & emotionally..while dad only rarely does either.
I agree with several of your points about Jon & Kate needing to provide for the kids.
Although, IMO Jon does not appear to have extended his custody time..yet? Does anyone know? It seems like it's a few days a month.
Good evening everyone! I have missed you all. I was very busy with a Girl Scout Holiday party only to have my daughter get sick at the party and have to leave early. What stress today.
ReplyDeleteEllen's measly 8 month realtionship with Jon should not be touting her as the "Stepmom". I couldn't even imagine. They (the media & a few haters) have spread lie after lie in the press lately. After the old sanwiches thing didn't work they are now starting trouble by stating that Kate and Ellen don't speak. So freakin what. I wouldn't speak to her either. They don't to speak, I have no idea why Radar would even make that a post. Most women who divorce their husbands do not speak to the other women. I think thats quite normal. But just another example of people starting trouble to hurt Kate Gosselin's reputation...When you read these recent Radar Online posts, you would swear it's been Jon & Ellen leaking these stories..see below:
EXCLUSIVE: Kate Gosselin Continues Silent Treatment With Jon's Girlfriend 8 Months
Posted on Dec 06, 2010 @ 06:15AM
It's been a year and a half since Jon & Kate Plus 8 turned into a chronicle of the couple's disintegrating marriage that ended in divorce, and while Kate's been focusing on her career, Jon has found love. RadarOnline.com has learned that while Kate and Jon have found an amicable medium, she has yet to talk with Jon's girlfriend of eight months Ellen Ross. "Kate and Ellen are totally respectful of each other, but they just don't speak," a source explained.
"Each week for the custody switch, Jon and Ellen drive over to the house, pick up the kids and van and then leave with both cars, but Kate and Ellen haven't needed to talk." Jon has had string of ill-fated romances with the likes of Hailey Glassman, Kate Major and Morgan Christie, but he finally seems to have found stability with the pretty 24-year-old Pennsylvania government employee. According to the source, their relationship is stronger than ever.
"It's really the first normal relationship he's ever had. She is honest and doesn't go behind his back as he's experienced in the past," the source said. "Ellen has never officially met Kate. They have seen each other at court and during the custody switch each week but they haven't exchanged words. "The right time will come for them to talk but at least they have not said anything bad to each other."

Waves to Momsby ~~~~~ Great to have you stop by and comment! Glad you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteBaby Mama - So sorry I forgot all about that photo until now. My apologies. Once again, I'm now too far away from computer to fix it. We're heading out to Chuck E Cheese at 9am for another birthday celebration but I'll try to sneak away before we leave or I'll try to remember to get somebody to take carry a laptop for me to fix it on the fly (have Photoshop on the laptops) I can't believe I forgot. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand all the sympathy regarding Kate and the camping trip. Hellooo??? It's a TV show! Of course they are going to present extreme conditions in order to make it interesting! And I seriously doubt Kate was bound, blindfolded and a gun held to her head to go on this trip.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the negotiations went something like this: "Okay, here's the deal, Kate. We're trying to promote this Palin show so you get to go to Alaska with the kids, have all these memorable experiences BUT you have to suffer through a camping trip under extreme circumstances. I know, I know, not your idea of a fun time. BUT, we'll get you out of there within a few hours. We just need to get enough footage to keep it interesting. Deal?" That's not my kind of camping either but would I endure it for a few hours to get my paycheck? Ummm.... YES!
As for the child support, personally I don't have any info better than what Misty offered but the fact of the matter is, without the kids, there wouldn't be such support dollars to be spoken about. Kate has the better end of the deal, from my perspective, so why would she look to him for support? He needs to concentrate on providing for them when they are with him. For crying out loud, he can't even provide a home big enough for them!
And Babymama, I appreciate you continuing to allow "fair" comments and not getting combative when others have a different perspective. Although I like the show and even think I like Kate, I don't see everything she does or says in a positive light. I don't comment often because I honestly tire from the defensiveness exhibited by some (one) but I do still check in from time to time. Good to see that you are still here :)
SetInTheCleft..Missed you & so happy to see you back! And I agree with you. They will edit this to make this the worst camping trip since the camping trip I never took.
ReplyDeleteCause seriously, me in the 52 degree rain with no food in a forest will make me bite your behind like a grizzy bear. A grizzly bear that sees Russia from here! lol
Good Morning! I am really looking forward to watching the new show and think the short clips we are seeing are good "teasers" that will pique interest. It sure makes me want to watch it.
ReplyDeleteMy camping experiences have been few--one stands out in my mind when there was a thunderstorm during the night and water was rushing past the tent. From then on, we slept in a camper.
We're waiting for the next big snow storm--should be fun! :)
Set in the Cleft - Nice you could drop by and post. :)
ReplyDelete-----
Corrina - Waves to you ~ ~ ~ ~ . Great to hear from you!. Have fun in the snow.

Baby Mama - Photo is fixed. I'm sooooo looking forward to smelling pizza at Chuck E Cheese at 9 am (NOT). One party this morning, one late afternoon, then we're caught up on birthdays, lol. Hurrah. Kids go to Parents' Night out at school this evening, so get to have adult night out. Woo Hoo!
Linda--Have tons of fun at the parties and are you sure you don't want me to share some snow with you? ;) Enjoy your night out too--I am now picturing you having hubby stop at a shoe store on the way. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies..
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on the Alaska show(as we have not seen it, of course it's just a theory,I have even before the clips)
TLC was going for the CountryGirl meets the City Girl or the Fish out of water kind of thing...to GASP create interest & get ratings!
It appears to already be working..everybody(not just blogs) are talking about the upcoming show! It was even mentioned on a political satire show here in Canada.
I'm actually going to guess these will be the best ratings yet for SP show!
Brilliant move on TLC's part..let's face it if they had wanted someone to smile & nod & pretend to enjoy it they would have had Michelle Dugger.
If they'd wanted a mom who'd roll up her sleeves & really get into it they would have asked Amy Roloff.
They had Kate in the crossover & I fully believe they got just the reaction & drama they were looking for...taking Kate to a shooting range to prepare for bears was the first clue for me! What do you all think?
Fascinated ITA with your tabloid fodder theory :0
ReplyDeleteLinda have fun at your party! We had to miss my husbands adult & kids work party this year:(
Unfortunately we were away last weekend. It's such a bummer when all the fun stuff seems to be at the same time!
I've decided to have our own little get together with work friends families..but I MUST get the decorations in my house finished & some baking done first!
I really seem to work better under pressure..but it can be a stressful quality to have.
Good Morning everyone! The fresh scent of my new post is warm gingerbread cookies! So go over and take a sniff while posting your thoughts! Still waiting to hear from you on your best Holiday recipes! xoxox
