Watch Sarah Palin's Alaska w/Kate Gosselin HERE, Can Ellen Ross Be A Stepmom? Best Celebrity Body 2010

Hello Gosselin fans! With all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the Holidays, I'm still tweaking what I hope will be a great Holiday Recipe post in honor of The Gosselin family. So post on the site or e-mail me one of your faves, and I will personally try to re-create it. This is because I can't cook toast, so you can get a great Holiday laugh at my expense ;).. So why ohh why are they making up more Kate Gosselin lies this week? Is there such a huge desire to have Kate in the media at all times that they will print any and all lies and ridiculous stories they are "given" by who knows who? Who are all these un-named sources? Lets face facts, no one in Kates camp would leak this crap. If this keeps going I may have to have another post about all the garbage people believe in the media. I for one continue like Kate to laugh it off. And continue to be the most supportive fan site out there..xoxox

Kate Gosselin: Category: Best Mom Abs From Best Celebrity Bodies 2010 FitnessMagazine.com

FITNESS magazine is all about looking good and feeling better. To wrap up the year, we picked our favorite celeb bodies and broke our faves down into categories that include everything from "Best Celeb Slim Down" to "Best Baby Bump." Check out all the results...The mom of eight started running daily. She believes she has a better body now at 35 than when she did when she was in her teens and twenties. Rain or shine, she hits the same trail for 30 to 45 minutes a day, and she sticks to a strict all-organic diet.

Ellen Ross Call's Herself "Stepmom to Kate's 8 Appropriate?? RadarOnline.com

In a move that's sure to make some people uncomfortable, Jon Gosselin's girlfriend jokingly referred to herself as stepmom of his eight children RadarOnline.com has learned. Ellen Ross made the reference on her Facebook page, and her firends also jokingly call her "stepmom of the year." And while it's a joke, some people close to the Gosselins are wondering, "Will Kate find it funny?"

"Ellen believes it's no big deal that she's called herself step mom tothe kids," one source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com. (AKA Ellen herself lol) Kate may disagree, especially because the kids are old enough now to find things like this on the internet. Ellen and Kate have never spoken to each other despite the fact that Ellen has been with Jon in court against Kate and often is with him when he picks up and drops off the kids. "When the kids are with Jon's girlfriend they simply call her 'Ellen'," a source said. "The stepmom reference was meant to be a joke while discussing wrapping presents for the kids over the holidays that was all." Ellen's friends jokingly refer to her as the "stepmom of the year," but Jon has not reacted negatively to it. Jon's relationship with Ellen seems to be faring better than his past romances with Hailey Glassman, Kate Major and Morgan Christie. Ellen is a 24-year-old Pennsylvania government employee. According to one source, their relationship is stronger than ever.

  1. Thanks all for the nice thoughts on the other post. Finished Chuck Cheese only hearing Dreidle song & Wish You a Merry Cheistmas 400 times. Now almost at afternoon party at a living history museum where we dress in 18th century costumes and do activities of long ago (Baby Mama we're making hoe cakes in a fireplace. Come cook with us, lol ) I'm already tired, lol. Have a great day all.

Corrina- You're probably right about the shoes. :)

Miss talking to you Linda, may actually have to take a quick flight in so I can have a real meal cooked for me..xoxoxox Now people where are my recipes??

Oh Linda--It sounds like you are having so much fun!! All of you dressed in 18th century attire would make a good Christmas card photo.

  11. I think Ellen thinks too highly of herself. That's all I really have to say about it. Was it about that time to bring the Gosselin name up in the press again? Must be a slow news week again. I really wish they would just do what they keep saying and keep a low profile.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Do you read what Us Weekly has published a short time? is simply ridiculous and the comments too ... are looking for Kate and Sarah as enemy ... hey Kate is boring even, and we know it and she would never change her ways to please anyone ... sources and more sources. more .. at least this week was quiet on the news Gosselin, see the weekend.

  13. now gotta go back to my Christmas cards I'm doing for my family ... are getting pretty! :)

  14. Baby Mama, love the Charlie and Lola sandwiches!! One of my daughter's favorite cartoons too. I have nothing say regarding Elin -- she is the biggest twit, not deserving of even comment. Jon and her are a perfect match. Clueless together!

I'm thinking the recent crop up of more stories is from sheer boredom of the tabloids. Nothing is going on and they are trying to keep the hate alive. So ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  15. So because Ellen is Jon's latest flame and sees the kids 2 or 3 days a month, she thinks she's entitled to stepmom designation?

I think not! Right now she is nothing to those kids but the unpaid nanny Jon has when the kids are with him.

She has vigorously voiced her distain for Kate...joined in hate blogs against Kate...laughed at the vulgar rap video...and tried to lead a online revolt against Kate and the kids having a show!

She's got her nerve to even joke about this. It's so inappropriate and disrespectful to Kate.

She keeps putting out these stories to interject herself in the Gosselin drama and clearly wants to be "seen and heard"!

Frankly I'm sick and tired of her. She keeps putting her nose into Kate's business and Kate has shown great restraint and grace in not saying anything to her!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congratulations to Kate on Fitness Magazine taking note of her discipline and lifestyle changes to be in the top 10 Most Fit Moms category!

  17. On a different matter...seems like we have been lied to again. Remember the recent announcement that Jon had an IT job?

Well, it seems he did get a job...but it's a commission based job of pitching a maitenance company to large secular companies.

But at least it's something. Knowing Jon, I doubt that he will stick with this for long. One person present at Jon's pitch to the customer said Jon was trying to impress by noting he was a reality TV star.

That's not a smart way to present himself...but I imagine he had to get out and get something...I do believe the judge has been on Jon hard because of his lack of employment.

So the inside source story to ROL was another fabrication!

  18. Jen Santos~ So happy to see you again. I re-loaded the page and lost my long welcome. But I hope to continue to see you here. You were missed!

Today I got recipes from Corrina & Momsby. Thank you. I can't wait to make up the Holiday post. Linda has given me so many good ones she should co-author a cookbook with Kate! So far the one that looks the coolest goes to Fascinated. Yummy yummy can't wait to share!

    ReplyDelete
  19. FiredUp4Kate~ I was thinking about how Radar got this huge scoop about Kate purchasing an apartment of some sort near the TLC studios. They swore up and down that "SOURCES" told them she was buying the property to be closer to Steve and TLC. Kate went to Access Hollywood a week later, saying the story was complete BS. Apparently Kate made one single trip to TLC and had lunch in that building and THATS IT. She couldn't beleive how someone would make up a complete lie like that. And I remember even being embarassed posting it on my site beleiveing it was the truth.

So basically after that I never fully beleived anything they write as truth.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ohh nd one more thing.. so unlikely me to do 3 posts at a time huh? lol That story about Ellen reeks of Ellen or her close friend leaking that story. Anytime you hear that they are "closer than ever" cue the music and tell Ellen it hasn't even been a year yet.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We had just gotten back from a friends Holiday party. I went and put on Joy Behar and she has on the Kardashian sisters. Joy was asking Khloe how she felt when people said she was famous for being famous. She basically said she could care less. Haters can blog all they want, but at the end of the day she is making more money and people are still buying her products, so thank you.

Basically this pertains to Kate as well. She is #4 on the highest paid reality stars of 2010 at a whopping 3.4 million dollars. So 15 min, GWOP and the rest of the negative jealous nellies. THANK YOU. You helped Kate achieve great success this year!

    ReplyDelete
  22. ooooohh I am so excited for the recipe blog.

    okay back to business.

If Ellen is calling herself the step-mother, I agree with Jacque, I think it is mocking or negative. I think she is young and doesn't understand the hurtful impact that statement has on Kate. I am hoping that one day she will cross-over into adulthood and realize that she needs to move on. The fact that she is dating him supports my thoughts on her level of maturity. But she is young and she is entitled to make mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sorry for two posts removed now that I think will work! :)

Fascinated, I hope Ellen is not ironic about it because they are children to whom she is referring to be the stepmother ... I just hope that it will be nice to children and to help Jon to take care of them right ... Hey Ellen behave well because we are keeping an eye on you!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jacque...Yes, indeed we are keeping an eye on Ellen. So far she has failed to impress me...and her conduct thus far is not a good example for these beautiful kids!

Now here is some good factual news...the $2000 haircut story is pure "puppy doo" again.

Gossip Cop spoke with TLC rep and they confirmed that Kate's haircut and whatever else she had done is a freebie!

Yes, that's right folks...she paid nothing for it. Rep for Kate said Ted Gibson and Kate are best buddies and of course, he gets alot of free advertisement and exposure for doing Kate's hair!

    Another stupid rumor debunked!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I wonder if talking about being the kids' stepmother is Ellen's way of saying she and Jon are considering marrying, feeling out the public waters for marriage, hinting to Jon that they should marry, or letting people know that when the kids are there she plays the primary caretaking role and wants credit for it. I think she has an agenda, but I doubt it is hurting Kate even though that is the after effects. I hope if marriage is on the horizon, that they take a lot of time with it, and get some professional help in helping the kids deal with the change. I get tired of Radar online saying that Kate gives Ellen the cold shoulder because we really don't know if it is true, or the reasons why. If it is the case I think it probably has more to do with Jon than Kate or Ellen, it will be his job to make that bridge.

  26. Hi all. Fantastic day here! Hope yours was great also! Finishe our first of four Christmas celebrations. Not a single kid seems warped from not celebrating on the actual date.

Corrina - great idea about the photos. Boys and men said No photos of them in knee britches to send out, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fascinated - I can't wait for the recipe post either, to see what you selected to send! Yum-O (in the words of Rachael Ray!)
    ------
Should Jon and Ellen marry, she then earns the title of stepmom, but not before in IMO. I wish the two of them happiness but the title isn't appropriate until the are married.

I remember well the uproar from some when Kate referred to herself as a single mom, which according to the dictionary, she is. According to my same dictionary, stepmom wouldn't be appropriate until an actual marriage took place making the relationship a legal one.
    ------
I'm really looking forward to Sunday's episode. Regardless of what is actually shown, I'd say the tabloids have made considerable fodder of it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Good morning everyone! Linda I was laughing when you said not a child was warped from not celebrating on the actual Holiday! You know nothing pisses me off more that moronic haters on those other sites talking about kids like they know better. Or know whats best for kids in general. Most of them don't have any or are retired which makes me wantr to ask them where they get off talking like therapists.

I'm sorry, but they use several hurtful terms and stupid sheeple seems to be a popular one. I was wondering why they feel that they are smarter or any better than a fan when it's just a difference of opinion. I literally laugh reading the things that are sent to me. If you hate Kate so much, why do you go to these blogs everyday to obsess over her? They say they are not jealous, but seriously all they talk about is the money she has, and how undeserving she is of it. She's totally deserving! You know why? Because she got the opportunity to become a star and she worked hard and ran with it.

She accepted all those wonderful trips and gifts. And if they say they would have taken them too then they are dilusional. They are dilusional anyway for hating someone that much they don't even know, but that's another story....

    ReplyDelete
  29. First off, if I hear one more person attack me for not kissing the behind that is Jon Gosselin I'm gonna loose it. This is a fan site for Kate. I support Jon when I beleive he is doing a good job as a person in general. I always have thought he was and is a good father for his kids. That has never changed.

I haven't felt that way this past year because he soaked the year out dry by not working, tanning with his girlfriends (Ellen is not even a year yet) and basically being a douche of a person for attacking his ex-wife in public.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Agree with me or not, I was NOT happy with this article attacking him for working at his new job. I personally know how hard it is to work as a telemarketing job. I did it for 6 months out of college and I hated it. I really hope that he's able to stay at whatever type of job this is and be sucessful with it! See below....

"An insider working at OFSA says that Jon Gosselin, currently exploring life a a “regular guy,” showed up today to pitch some property management company to the Greek houses. Wearing his typical bucket of hair gel, “douchey yellow Oakleys,” and mentioning that “he had been on TV” was apparently supposed to convince administrators to switch over to Global Green Property Services.

Cold-calling Greek life (apparently he hit Temple and Drexel as well) may not be the most glamorous lifestyle, but at least he’s doing something other than screwing up his kids. Or camping with Sarah Palin. Snap a pic of him around? Send it in!"

  31. Baby Mama, I agree with your comments about the haters. Jealousy is disguised in many forms. For example, I hear so many people complain about city workers and how city workers never work. The same people that complain, steal office supplies like there is no tomorrow. Their argument for stealing the supplies is that they are not appreciated at work and they do not receive the amount of money they should be receiving, for the work they do. Haters will justify their judgment and continue to hate against people they feel are undeserving of the good fortune they are receiving. This judgment is pure jealousy.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I for one am glad he is attempting to get a job, what ever it is! Telemarketing is a really hard job. I cold called for Amvets for 3 years and it is the most impossible job on the planet. Good for Jon. His girlfriend is still a twit but I am glad he's attempting to get something, anything.

I have my pineapple upside down cake recipe on my blog is you want to repost that one. It's my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I thought the article was pretty mean too! Cold calling sales jobs are hard! I say good for Jon & all the best. Looking forward to tonights show.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow the hatred in that article. Bashing Jon for the type of job he has and then Kate for her parenting skills.

Imagine if we lived in a world were everyone supported each other. We could cure cancer, but instead we make money demeaning others. Sad.

Thank you Baby Mama for keeping positive and supporting others to remain loving and supportive.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Great comments this afternoon!

I agree that I'm happy that Jon got a job, which is bound to help his attitude and self esteem. Cold call sales would be a tough job and I certainly give him credit for trying.

I also agree that this article was a cheesy stab at both Jon and Kate. Gosh, watch out for karma. Spew the hatred and it will come back to bite you in in the rear.

  37. Ok who is watching right now to see Kate arrive at Sarah Palin's house? Ans why does Sarah's young daughter have a bouffant with highlights??lol

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey Debora. Sorry about your computer and glad you'll be back soon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes, I am watching right now. I love how they spoke about the invasiveness of the Paps.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I once again have to side with Kate on this. Sarah was saying that they are putting their children's lives in danger if they don't camp with guns. But aren't you putting your children in danger anyway if your allowing your young to be near guns? No wonder why Kate is upset.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Me too fascinated. Also, I'm soooooo glad I'm Not on that trip, lol! I'm not a pioneer camper like you.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I feel for Sarah, she loves this and Kate is obviously out of her comfort zone. Sarah is walking around trying to stay cheery and Kate is increasingly getting more frustrated. If I were Kate I probably would have punched Sarah out, just because she keeps trying to make it exciting. But Sarah is probably trying not to feel down because it isn't working the way she thought it would. LOL.

It is interesting that TLC would choose to show clips that suggest that Kate is a bit of a diva.

    ReplyDelete
  43. ohh how sad that TLC made it seem like Kate pitched a fit and decided to leave. I can totally understand Kate's frustration. People who don't like camping would hate just the fact that you can't wash your hands when you need. I think they could have edited it better. Now the haters will have a field day.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Kate's bahavior as Sarah Palin's guest in Alaska was rude and appalling! I'm embarrassed for her...she acted like a child having a tantrum! Kate's kids had a blast, learning about nature, etc. and that was fun to see. Kate needs to get over herself! She's a really cute gal but she has a serious attitude problem.

    ReplyDelete
  45. fascinated - The haters have a field day every day so what's the difference, lol.Sad that it's like that. What a difference it would be to grow up being used to it.

I thought Kate did okay longer than I would, that's for sure. She really likes fish, maybe if they'd caught some, but probably not.
    ------
Fired up - I'll bet the Palin's would have been really out of their comfort zone in our hot southern summers. I know that last July I thought it would be nice to be in Alaska in July but aftervthe cold, rain, bugs, and bear threats, I'll just take the south.

    ReplyDelete
  46. p.s. If Kate doesn't like to camp, she should never have gone.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I appreciated Sarah's comments at the end when she said that if Kate had taken her to a red carpet event, then Sarah would be scratching to get out of their too. I totally agree with Sarah, I would be totally out of my comfort zone and dying to get back home. : )

I think she would have had a bit of a better experience if it wasn't raining too. It sucks to go camping in the rain and after a while, those kids would have been cranky too. There is nothing worse than cranky, wet kids, camping. I know from many years of experience. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Libby - ??? I don't think she was rude. She handled the discomfort for a day, cold, hungry, wet, miserable. So...I guess you'd have been just fine. Well good for you!

Rude, isn't that kinda what you did as a newbie, rolling into a proKate site with your comment? Guess in your opinion it's just fine. So you have your opinion. Fine. I just don't agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  49. She lasted longer than I would've! I hate camping in the rain. Snow yes, rain no.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Welcome Libby~ You see I just had to laugh. I'm laughing that so many haterz will drink this right up...I would seriously like to see any of them actually spend a full day in the Alaska cold. It cuts right through you, and thats when it's not raining. Kate was out of her element. She was funny. Hey it's her personality. My kids enjoy the outdoors in small doses. There was no way that family would have lasted through the night. They aren't outdoors people and theres nothing wrong with that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Linda they come here in droves after shows like this to see what were saying. I am right and they are wrong. Lets take an overnight field trip to the cold rainy Alaskan woods shall we? :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am not a hater. I like Kate! I'm just sayin' she was pouting the whole time, did not participate and she complained, complained, complained! That's what I thought was rude. When you are a guest, you don't act that way! She did not have to accept the invite, if she knew she hated camping. As I said, I like her, as well as Sarah Palin.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Libby you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. And I know the trolls would agree with you. I'm just speaking for myself that I would do the exact same thing. So I guess I'm just as bad. Everone would act a different way if they were there, and because it's Kate and they hate her they will eat this up... This next comment is not for you, but ot all the trolls reading my site right now...

EVERYONE watched this.. everyone has something to say about it. If you dislike Kate so much, then why did you all watch it so that you can flitter back and forth to the blogs to talk about it?? Kate makes blogs go on fire, Kate I'm sure appreciates the fact that you are sooo concerned about her.

So trolls, when Kate makes another 3.4 mill next year, I'm sure she will thank you. Now get over yourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, let me say this...I have not seen it yet...recorded it to see after the football game! My son and husband just had to see Philly and Dallas game!

However, I think it was rude and inhospitable to take a guest...who you know is not used to any sort of camping.....out in the cold, rainey wilderness..scare her to death about the bears...tote firearms along with 8 small children...and then serve your guest Moose Dogs with no proper utensils, seating and sanitation!

That certainly is not Southern Hospitality...where we like to make our guests feel comfortable and well cared for!

So although I haven't seen all the particulars...I totally understand Kate feeling lost and uncomfortable. They did little to accomodate her feelings and certainly created a situation for Kate to fail!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Baby Mama - lol, just call me wimpy, I don't care. I'm pretty sure I couldn't have done it period. Not for Kate's money. Not for... Well whatever. My hat is off and I salute the heart people who can. Not even with double layers of Goretex thermal underwear. Not even for a whole case of my beloved Some-Mores with gooey marshmallows and chocolate.

Uh, just wondering if anybody noticed there weren't enough tents for all those people either, lol. (Last week it took two tents just for Sarah, her father, and the family friend.) I wonder how they'd have packed all those people in. I don't think there were enough sleeping bags either.

Yes, Baby Mama, let's do a field trip. Do we get to pick whom we take? I'd prefer to just pick the lucky winner who goes in my place if it's to that destination. Just leave me, the wimp girl behind.I'll wave! ~ ~ ~

    ReplyDelete
  56. So do you think LindaO that since there were insufficient tents and sleeping bags that maybe there was never any intention of Kate staying over nite with the kids?

And who knows....maybe the Palins packed up and went home too...relieved they didn't have to stay longer in that miserable weather!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Firedup - I have no idea. Just seemed peculiar about the tents though. Maybe they took more but didn't pitch them because of the rain.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Fact is that TLC can spin it several ways and we will never know the truth. I didn't see Gosselin luggage, did I miss it? I honestly don't think they ever had any intentions of staying there.

Fact is, I have done many things for my children where I bit my lip and took one for the team. That did NOT involve spending the day in the freezing woods. Some of the kids were not wearing hats and who knows who got sick after that. I wouldn't have syayed and I could care less if my kids didn't want to go or not. Again ANOTHER prime example of people judging her without knowing whats best for young children. It all depends on what type of parent you are. I love Kate for being a funny drama queen just like me..But DON'T get it twisted, she's a GREAT mother looking out for her kids.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was interupted the first time I watched it so am watching it again. Too funny that the pilot asked if there were adults going on the flight too. I think he panicked a bit. LOL.

I agree Linda, there didn't seem to be much for luggage or tents. I am sure Kate said, no we are not sleeping over. I don't blame her, it was raining.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wow, I thought I admired Kate's kids before, but tonight gave me a newfound proudness of them. I really don't think it was ever intended for them to spend the night, they were having a good time and nobody put up a fuss about leaving, it seemed like they expected to. There was also the luggage issue and cold weather clothing and sleeping bags are pretty thick, they didn't leave with any. Kate packs plenty just for a trip to the zoo. Also they would have had to arrange for transportation out of there. I do think it was a neat experience for the kids. I was just so impressed with how well behaved and interested they were. I don't know any kids who would do so well and be so adaptable. I agree that Sarah doesn't seem to understand that there is a flip side to guns. People who live in cities arent threatened by wildlife, they are threatened by guns in the wrong peoples' hands, guns in childrens' hands on accident, gun violence, and such. Sarah Palin has an agenda with her show. Whether it is a good or bad one, I just hope people are aware that it is Sarah's agenda

    ReplyDelete
  61. fascinated - You camp. (I'm too old and fuddy duddy to do primitive camping.) Back in the days though, I was taught that you strip the greenery off twigs & logs before building a fire, because the greenery smokes.

I had to chuckle at the Palin's sitting there around their campfire with the smoke billowing up in their faces. Don't you move back a bit? What happened to building a fire ring with rocks? I guess when it's raining you don't have to worry too much about fire, but? And, if it's raining, or been raining, don't you stack the wet wood close but not too close, to the fire to dry it out so it doesn't smoke? Cooking over a green pine branch twig fire, wouldn't those marshmallows have tasted a bit like pine resin sap?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Me - You've been deleted. We don't call people bit**es here. So take your little comments to a different kindof blog and be happy!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Denise is that you? Your all over the hate blogs tonight. Aren't you exhausted? Ugh that clearly shows us where the class is and where the trash is..haha Don't you just love how they stop here to read this site before anywhere else?? I want to hear from more of the followers.. what did you think of the show tonght?

    ME? I loved it!

  64. Linda O - I personally wouldn't have cooked anything on the pine branches because I agree, the needles were still on. I love camping, especially in remote areas.

I think that Sarah camped when she was younger and is trying to tap into those roots. Why else would she have to take gun and bear safety if she camps in remote places often.

I agree Tashapork, I think she has an agenda and I think that agenda is advertising Alaska. I think her and Todd camp close to home, or Todd camps and fishes without her. But, I think it is great that she is showing Alaska and she is a trooper about it.

  65. I think TLC made Kate look like a whiny DIVA. The kids seemed to have fun though. I didn't think it was right how Kate told the kids that wanted to stay that they were a Palin not a Gosselin. In fact, when she said that Alexis said okay she wanted to leave. I didn't think about the no luggage or how they got transportation that fast. I think it was just a bad idea and all TLC accomplished was making Kate look bad. I think I would have acted just like Kate. I HATE being cold and I HATE the rain.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love it when people say "TLC made Kate look...", I mean, come on, she was crying about rain and cold. What did she expect? It's camping in Alaska! No one can make you look THAT ungrateful and unhappy. Poor Piper, she was genuinely sad to see her little friends go, especially after seeing how much fun they were having. Thanks Kate for making me despise Sarah Palin just a little bit less, at least for one night.

  68. Kayla - I think I would have been a lot like Kate, lol.
    -----
Out of curiosity I checked some things. Kate and Sarah's positive sharing about things they have in common took more time than Kate's comments about the cold and rain.
Mostly overlooked and/or ignored were Kate's positive comments about the beauty of Alaska (just not the camping!) and Sarah's about things Kate handles that she, Sarah, couldn't handle well.

Kate did participate in the gun and bear safety segment. She did fly in the small plane. She did at least try the outdoors experiment even with the massive amount of biting bugs, cold, rain, moose hotdogs, and heavily bear infested woods. Many of us would have said "Since it's raining, we aren't going outdoor camping, what else can do?," and wouldnt have tried. As well as, you can forget those moose hotdogs which I have a feeling that since they were roasted over the pine resin twigs probably tasted like tar.

She did also leave and got panned for it. Had she kept her kids out overnight in the rain, the panning would perhaps have been worse because she exposed them to inclement elements.

The kids got to go to Alaska and see a glacier, the beauty of the mountains, the sled dogs and other great experiences. They got to try new things. All before the Palin visit. That's the beauty of life, opening to new experiences, keeping those you enjoy and going away from those that make you miserable, be they nature's elements or of the human variety. JMO.

  69. What did she expect? I think the point is...she probably didn't know what to expect! She'd never been really camping, never been to Alaska, never gone to a firing range, never met the Palins, never been that far from a city, never flown much on small planes, never eaten moose, never had to worry about bears, never been that far from a functional bathroom, never... Get the point?

If you already knew all of that, what would be the point of trying something new? You don't know if you might or might not like camping until you try it. She did try, was miserable and left. Big deal.

  70. Good morning! Videos are up. And yes, that is an Alaskan Puffin. I actually saw one very, very far away. They don't like to be bothered either. So he was perfect to bring my point home :)

  71. I would not have eaten a moose hot dog for any amount of money or degree of hunger. Where I live people eat alligator and I will NEVER eat that. I only eat chicken, pork, and beef. I did eat lamb in Greece, but wild game (or gators) is not for me.

As far as throwing a fit. I am 21 and my mom still has to tell me to stop throwing a fit. I had a breakdown in the grocery store this weekend because I couldn't open a Dasani water. I was really thirsty and taking taking mucinex, but still I did not need to act the way I did. So, I feel for Kate because I act that way too. Our personalities are similar and I think that along with the adorable kids (I want to be a teacher so I am a sucker for cute kids) is what has kept me watching the show all these years. I was however hard to watch this episode because sometimes Kate makes me cringe. I think it's because we are a lot alike. I would have left too, heck I wouldn't have gone. I used to camp with girl scouts when I was in like 4th grade, but I would NEVER do it again.

  72. So, I love Kate but….yeah…not a shining moment for her. It wasn’t as bad as the previews made it seem because she seemed to have left on friendly terms, but really, she wasn’t being a good sport and wasn’t very nice to the Palins, like when she asked Piper, “So, this is fun to you…interesting”. It’s no wonder Piper didn’t want to walk them to the boat after Kate had talked to her that way. I understand that camping isn’t her thing, but the children really seemed to be enjoying all of it, even wanting to stay when asked. She should have moved by the fire and forgotten herself for a little while. I’m not saying she can’t be real and express some things, I just felt like she went overboard this time. It’s funny watching someone else melt down, I am glad that I don’t have a film crew watching me as I know I have had more than a fair share of less than attractive moments.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I agree Ali. I felt bad for Piper. I think Kate kind of broke her little heart with that comment. Not sure if she'll keep watching the show. I would have been nice if Kate could have sucked it up for the kids since they were having so much fun. However, she wasn't into it from the beginning and I think it was a BAD IDEA. I don't know what TLC wanted to accomplish, but Kate looked kind of spoiled and diva like. I would have reacted the same way and probably never would have consented in the first place. I also did not like how Kate told the kids they weren't a Gosselin of they wanted to stay. In face, after hearing that Alexis said okay I'll leave. I too think Kate went overbaord, but lets look as the facts it was cold raining and they were eating MOOSE. Who wants to do that? Again, this was a BAD IDEA.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Just watched the show...it wasn't pretty! TLC created a situation that was a "no-win" for Kate. I felt bad for her.

You have a woman here who is known to have issues with cleanliness and germs.

She's also very protective of her kids' health and well being.

She's never camped in the wild before.

She's not comfortable with guns...certainly scared to death of the possible bear attack.

Now you take her and her 8 kids...put them in a small worn-out looking plane...drop them off in the middle of nowhere....and worst of all...

its raining and cold, damp, overcast, next to a stream...which makes it about 10 degrees colder!

Then they feed Kate a moose hotdog...without inquiring first if she liked game meat...many people can't stand the taste...that was inconsiderate!

TLC pretty much threw Kate "under the bus" with this episode. That disturbs me because Kate put TLC on the media map...she brought in the ratings and the revenue for this company.

They certainly highlighted Palin as the outdoorsy cheerful woman and Kate as the inside, not happy diva.

The snarky comments by the Palins about Kate were not nice...the father's remark was rude and inappropriate toward a guest.

I would never, never have treated a guest to my home with such an uncomfortable, miserable trip!

Some people like to sky dive...not for me. Would it be appropriate for a sky diving enthusiast to insist I accompany them on a dive if I were to visit?

Let's get real...they knew Kate was totally out of her element here and they did not care.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I agree BAD IDEA. TLC made her look like a word I won't say. They should have let Palin show them Alaska and skip the camping.

    ReplyDelete
  76. That comment Kate made to Piper may have been taken out of context. We saw an edited clip of just a moment.

We don't know what the whole conversation was about.

The Palin or Gosselin comment was Kate's ill attempt at some humor I think. Kate knew the kids were overall having a good time and I think she was disappointed that she couldn't get into it.

But hey...she's the mom. It wasn't going well and was surely going to get worse and colder as the day wore on.

Also there were no toilet facilities...can you see Kate trying to take the kids into the bushes to potty...or even Kate herself?

Who knows...maybe it was even "that time of the month" for Kate!

I think it was best that she cut her losses and recognize that this was not the best idea and get out of there.

This does not make her a bad person or a horrible mother. Kate has endured many difficult situations with her kids and she knows them best and certainly it was her call to decide to leave. They clearly edited this to make Kate look bad and they succeeded.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Good points, Kayla.

But you know, I was kind of surprised at her reaction to the guns. Didn’t she really enjoy shooting when she took the boys to that ranch a while back? I can understand not wanting to shoot while in the wild as a form of protection or having to hunt, if that’s not your thing, but she liked shooting the last time she did it. She seemed so adverse to it as a whole this time.

Anyway, again, I’m not perfect and I don’t expect perfection from anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hi Firedup,
We might not have seen the entire conversation, so I totally agree we could have missed something…but Piper’s reaction to her then and after broke my heart because I felt like her feelings were a little hurt. Saying this doesn’t mean I think Kate is a bad mother or a bad person. I think it’s sad that small mistakes she makes will be taken as justification for hate toward her.

    ReplyDelete
  79. This is the kind of activity that the kids really need to be doing with their dad and that is the sad part. Remember when Jon took the kids skiing, Kate was only out there for a few minutes at the end to see Cara ski, otherwise she was at the house or spa. TLC knows this. Jon would take them to play in the snow, Kate stayed in to take them to the bathroom and make hot chocolate. I know Kate feels the need to play both mom and dad, but she isn't mom and dad. Jon would have been more into this activity. I also feel that Kate feels pressured by the paycheck to do these things she might otherwise not do.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I took the gun situation entirely differently. There's a huge difference between shooting a pistol (like the Out West Episode) and shooting a rifle. Along with a huge difference between target practicing and having to shoot to possibly protect yourself. I thought Kate was a good sport to try that.

As for asking Piper, I think that was a "You enjoy this?" question much like I might ask a gator hunter's kids (and they camp in the Everglades which I could never do), "So, you enjoy this?" as in being out in the rain and camping. More a, I'm trying to find out what the fun in this is? Much like a question of a New Yorker, "So you like living in all this noise, people, and hub bub?" I think the native New Yorker might respond, "So Yes, I do!" and look at you as if to say, How could you not like it?

It's a bit like the preceding week when Sarah and Piper were gutting the fish and processing the strips for curing and Sarah said, "We smoke and cure our fish each year." Then she said to Piper, "Isn't this fun?" and Piper looked at her with a deer in the headlight look like, "Are you nuts? I don't want to do this!" Sarah and family may process their caribou, fish, moose, etc. every year but I really don't think Piper had ever done it before from her expressions.

It's also a bit like the contradiction of "We go camping almost every weekend." and then "Remember Piper the last time we went camping and I said we'd have more fun the next time with a friend along?"

Don't get me wrong. I think it's great for the folks who adore the weeks and weekend in the wilderness. For heavens sake though, don't take mostly city folks into a true Alaskan wilderness for their very first camping trip outside the backyard.

Firedup - I agree that never in a zillion years would I take a guest and put them in that situation. You ask about food questions etc. before people come to visit. Gosh couldn't they have at least taken some peanut butter to eat in an emergency? I think Kate, who loves fish, had been sold on catching the fish for dinner but when that didn't work, out came the moose meat.

We have to remember also that this was Sarah's film crew and not the film crew that Kate normally works with, so it's a bit different.

After the bashing fish, gutting the caribou, cutting strips of fish and curing them, I'd have lost it for sure. I have no desire at all to visit there. Zero. Nada. Zilch. I'm happy that it's there for the people who love it, but please don't make me go.

Not only would I have gotten the heck out of there but I probably would have thrown up also. Wouldn't that have made for great drama! I'm not sure I could have done the small plane either. I swore I'd never do that again and I surely will NOT.

  81. I think the fly-by oilrig wife comment was important. She suggested that TLC didn’t make Kate look anything.

I disagree. I think they should have been honest in the episode and said that the kids/Kate may camp over if all goes well. She did identify that she was for the camping trip, just not in the rain. They should have shown more of her being exciting about camping or apprehensive if that were the case.

Instead, they only showed her under the tarp trying to stay dry and then freaking out. They could have easily shown more discussion from Kate about going and her willingness to go. Kate fans know that she hates camping. Non-Kate fans think she is a Diva. They could have also had her talk more at the end about how the kids couldn’t wash their hands (and they had marshmallows for goodness sakes), there were bush bathrooms, and that as a mother of 8 you feel incredibly vulnerable when you are soaked, cold, and fearful of wildlife.

If TLC was thinking that this would be a first Touch of Kate episode, and other episodes will be similar to this one, I think it was a disaster.

Seeing someone emotional vulnerable to the point where they breakdown is not why we watch Kate. We watch Kate for lighthearted tv and to feel a sense of connection. I also agree that it was inappropriate to show the dad’s comments.

I don’t know what TLC was thinking. The next Kate Plus Eight episode better have more behind the scenes stuff for the trip to Alaska to help others that don't know Kate get a better perspective of why she didn't stay.

People that don't camp don't understand the conditions and would think that it is like standing in their own back yard.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree. It was a disaster. Personally that is the last Sarah Palin episode I am watching. The first few were interesting and I tried to like her, but now it just seems all for show. How many animals are we going to watch being killed?? not for me. Not everybody likes camping and I think that yet again TLC threw her under the bus for ratings. I really hope her new show does well so eventually she can move away from this network. This episode reminded of some of the last JK+8 episodes where they were basically putting Kate in uncomfortable situations for ratings.

  83. Yup the show was annoyingly annoying for some reason. (Another Kate-ism I love ;)

Kate is Kate and that is her personality. And I love it. You may not like it, but it makes for good TV. She makes no bones about what she likes and who she is. And it's also a fact that people love to hate her, simply because of who she is.

And she is telling those that do not like it to kiss her behind. And again, thats why I love her. If she acted like a Siant that would not be her, and people would complain it was an act. So lets lets just leave it at haters are gonna hate regardless. This was just simple for them and they didn't have to stretch and reach for a reason to hate on her more.

Go Kate. Still supporting you with a smile 100%

  86. It's one thing for adults to camp out with no facilities but to get that to work for small children is more than I can imagine. I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed camping in rain, cold, bugs, etc any more than Kate did. In fact, even my husband thought it would have been better to at least wait for good weather. And we have bears here in the spring and summer that have gotten within a few feet of the garage and house, and I'm not taking any chances being in their way.

Sorry to hear about the accident Linda. Hope it all goes well.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Definitely a controversial episode! I understand that the situation was far from ideal for Kate, and a totally new experience... so understandably she was not happy. This is the exact opposite of her idea of a good time and she was way out of her comfort zone.
But on the other hand, she was a guest, and complaining while the Palins went out of their way to provide what they thought to be a fun experience for her family... was rude in my opinion. Especially because the kids were having such a great time.
Of course who knows what was behind the editing on the episode, and as others had said maybe they hadn't intended on staying the night anyway. Overall I can completely understand where Kate was coming from, (and I would have felt the same) I just think that she could have handled it better. And if she watches this back, I have a sneaking suspicion that she might feel the same way.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Great episode! I loved it. It was Sarah's show not Kate's so I think it was edited to favor Sarah. That's just my opinion. Kate told Sarah that she appreciated that she could handle all the elements and Kate new she could not. Whatever happened I think people are going to find ways to make mountains out of molehills.

  91. I don't think Kate was whining per se to the Palins. She was whining to Sarah's camera crew. Small difference I know but a difference none the less.

  94. First off, I am pro-Kate but I was very disappointed with her behavior. I am a city girl and have only camped once in my life and actually enjoyed it, mainly the family time because we were all unplugged from technology. That said, one comment Kate made just bummed me out: "Sorry I'm miserable, but someone has to be". That simply is not true, we make choices about how we are going to act and react, what type of role model we are going to be etc. And especially in front of the children, is that the image you want to portray and teach? Sometimes in adversity, we need and have to rise above it and make the most of the situation, no matter how difficult. I am sad that Kate agreed to this episode, it didn't put her in a good light. I think TLC was working to make ratings and tension, shame on them. She is better than this and I look forward to the next Kate Pus 8! Go Kate!

  95. Good Morning!

Sorry about the frigid temperatures, Linda. Just sharing the joy. ;)

  96. I was just able to watch the episode last night and I do agree that it looked like they were not intending to spend the night from the beginning. I do think that Kate could have handled the situation better, but each of us handles things our own way. I am not an outdoorsy type and would not have wanted to be camping in the rain and cold, but after she got there she could have made a little better mood out of it....but then again I wasn't there and they edit stuff so we only see what they want us to. Maybe she did have a better attitude in the beginning of the trip and then it just got worse as she got cold and wet??? However she didn't seem like her usual self during most of the episode...but it wasn't Kate+8 it was Palin's show so maybe they didn't want her to act like herself, or MAYBE this is the way she always is and when she does her show she "acts" differently because of the expectations she has been given? All in all not a bad episode, but not one of Kate's shining moments.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think this was Kate's natural reaction. She NOT an actress. Editing plays a big role. Remember some J & K episodes where they made her look bad. Others they made Jon look bad. We only see a snipet no the whole picture. However, I think through the years neither Jon nor Kate was acting.

While he is still fighting the pneumonia and certain effects of the hus and medically has a long way to go we ae so happy he is heading in the right direction! He will have to relearn how to walk and some other things, but there is progress there as well. I tell you, ladies, I have lived, along with my family, real reality the past few weeks, and have had more drama and seen other's (in the hospital)to last me a lifetime. I am done with the genre that is reality tv with it's manufatured drama - and with those involved in it. Life is too short to spend time watching it and blogging about it when there is precious real reality with drama and comedy to keep me fully occupied. Scripted TV - I am back!!! Best wishes to you all in this Holy and special of seasons, no matter what you celebrate - and thereafter. Sophia signing off.

  99. I wonder if Kate was having a bad day with the PCOS, and the cold and wet and being off routine/normal diet exacerbated it. I know I can have a really bad day with my hormones and I am a bear.

  100. Corrina - thank you but I'm boxing up this arctic air and I'm sending every bit of it back to you with hugs!

tashapork - I think Kate's statement about "I just don't get this concept" (camping) is where the issue originated. Camping outdoors away from your bed in cold and rain with bears nearby will never be a part of her idea of "fun." I'd wager she will never ever return to Alaska either. Also, Kate is talking to the camera folks. I don't think she had any idea those comments made "aside" would make it into the final cut. A bit like, for example, when you are some place you really don't like and you make a comment to a spouse about being glad when it's time to go home (a la sharing the misery, lol). You don't expect your spouse to say, "Attention everyone, this person is colossally miserable and wants out of here!"

  106. I hate cold weather...just can't seem to get around as well like I used to!

Kate sure is taking a beating over this Palin episode. I wish we really knew what happened here...because this is not our typical Kate.

Even in other stressful conditions lately, she usually deals with it and tries to find the humor in the situation.

Remember the 100 degress heat in NY when they were visiting and her running with the melting ice cream cones?

Also going under water and being thrown off the surf board time after time...I think I counted 4 dunks that we saw?

Something about this show does not "smell" right! I believe Kate was already upset and having a difficult time before she even got off the plane.

Was our Kate forced to do something that was against her will and her better judgment?

Was the whole show scripted to make Kate look like a whining idiot and Sarah Palin the all powerful, do everything woman for America?

I feel bad for Kate because I believe TLC did not treat her right on this one and now she will have to deal with this for quite some time.

Kate no doubt regrets how she handled it..but it is done and hopefully she learned something from this and will not allow producers to portray her so horribly again!

It's the same people posting under 20 different names, and I think it's nice to have a more controlled enviornment where we can get to know people better. Or maybe block them quicker, in other cases..lol

I was happy I worked like a dog today. I really didn't want to be off today, because with the raging cold weather and flakes of show. I would have hid under the covers. Which would mean I would have to see the vile nastiness that are the hate blogs today. Again must we wention the same people posting over and over again attacking Kate which makes no sense. I mean, does it make you feel better at the end of the day? To get on line, call yourself something stupid like "Kate's pink straight jacket" or whatever, travel from site to site and sound like a moron on the web do something for your life? I still agree 100% that this does something to these women, they get some high trying to attack her to make sense of their miserable lives. Or at least some type of escapism for whatever is bothering them.

Either way don't feel sorry for the kids, just try to figure out whatever issue is bothering you and work on that..lol

I love reading the comments from everyone that watches - haters, lovers, whatever. It's always nice to hear what people think. It also gives me a chance to think about other people's perspectives. I can see faults in both Jon and Kate, as well as good qualities too.

I think it was silly for Kate to agree to go camping... she is known for being an indoor gal. I love camping, but hate being cold and wet there so I can relate. And who knows what happened with the editing - they can make it look however they want. But I really didn't like her forcing the kids to take sides and pulling them away from the fun. Jon would be a better person to take them camping like that. Oh well. I'm proud that Kate was willing to try, and I hope she learned something from the experience.

  111. You know, I really don’t think there was anything all that sinister going on with this episode. I think it was pretty typical TLC stuff. Editing or not, (and I agree, especially from the way things were shot that Kate was chatting with the camera crew and not intending that to end up on the show), she said those things and she meant them. Sure, maybe she was having a bad day already. Maybe she was just in a bad mood plain and simple, and nothing would make her feel like sucking it up for that experience. When it comes down to it, it really doesn’t matter. I mean, she has had better moments, that’s for sure, but she’s human. She knows how TLC operates with editing. She knew the cameras were on. She had a bad day, she overreacted, she’s not perfect, so oh well!

  112. Good afternoon everyone! Im so sorry it's taking me so long to get a post out. The baby is not really napping anymore, and I'm so all over the place. I never have time to complete anything. The PTA has also had so many things for me to do, that when I get home all I want to do is crash and watch my shows. LOL So keep posting here today until I get it up..

Jessie, thank you so much for coming here and I hope that you continue to do so. I was confused because I didn't know if it was you posting at 15 min and I wanted to say thank you for always having the videos up for me to share. Everyone so greatly appreciates it, esp. me.

As always I love having all diffrent sides and thoughts posted here, but you understand that since this is a fan site, I too have specific rules to commenting here. As long as people come here and sheare their thoughts without being nasty I'm fine with it. You have stated your thoughts and your neutal sides of the fence in the past, and sometimes you feel both ways. I respect that. I just get confused when I see people feel one way on one blog and a different way on another. Well I just want to say thank you for always having the shows and anything both sides of the arguement need. Please come back and chat a while. They are hogging you over there :) lol

  114. Rumors
Latest rumors are that school sent letters expelling kids and thus Kate lied.
Let's look at the logic here.
IF, and that's a huge IF, the school sent letters to Jon and Kate, how could any info be released except by one of three people?!!!
    1. The school didn't release the info. The liability would be over the top!
    2. Kate wouldn't have released it.
    3. That only leaves... Jon or Ellen. Sorry, but IMO, it would take a really immature person to do that. So take your pick!
OR, ONCE AGAIN, THE STORY IS FABRICATED.

Next rumor is that in a healthy lifestyle, Ellen and Jon are taking the kids to public parks to play.
Well, where the heck else would they take them? There's a tiny apartment; not a good option. The park is free, fun, a chance to burn energy, and they aren't having to inhale the cigarette smoke so nothing wrong here.
As for the "go make friends" nothing wrong with that either as long as you are super vigilant about watching the action.

  115. I think you hit the nail on the head linda regarding the rumours. There is an element of common sense that is absent from the rumours.
