Gosselin Inspired Holiday Recipes! (Sweets Edition) Watch Gosselin Family Christmas HERE!

Merry Christmas everyone! Boy I am so blessed and have so much to be thankful for! (Of course I say this as I'm yelling at my kids to go to bed lol) This year has been such a roller coaster for me. But not nearly as crazy as its been for Kate Gosselin. Many sites are doing end of the year lists. I thought this site would veer off a bit FINALLY get our Holiday Recipes together. A Gosselin Inspired Holiday Recipe fest! Thank you for all your donations. I hope each of you will try to add at least one or more of these yummy feasts! Which one will I attempt to make? Well we shall see on Christmas Day! xoxox

Caramel Corn Popcorn Twists "From Fascinated"
1/2 lb butter (do not substitute margarine) 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup corn syrup, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 (175 g) bag popcorn, twists

1. Set oven to 250°F.  2. Place popcorn twists into a roasting pan. 3. Cook together butter, brown sugar and corn syrup for 2 minutes after butter has melted and it starts to gently boil in a large saucepan. 4. Add baking soda to mixture. 5. Allow foam to cook down slightly. 6. Pour caramel mixture over popcorn twists and stir until mixed. 7. Place in oven for 35-45 minutes, (35 for chewy corn, 45 for crunchy), stirring at least every 10-15 minutes. 8.  Remove from oven and pour on wax paper. 9. Allow to cool slightly , break apart.

Skor Apple Dip "From Momsby"
1 pkg Cream Cheese /3/4 Cup Brown Sugar /1/2 tsp Vanilla /1 can Caramel Sauce(ice-cream topping works) /1 Pkg Skor bits(you can find them in the baking isle) /5-6 Green apples Sliced into bite sized pieces.
Beat Cheese, sugar & vanilla with mixer. /Spread onto a serving plate./Layer with Caramel.
Sprinkle Skor bits & garnish with apple slices.

Cranberry Hootycreeks "From Corrina"
(Prep Time:  25 min, Ready In: 25 Min) 1. Layer the following indredients in a 1 quart jar in the order listed:
5/8 cup all purpose flour/ 1/2 cups rolled oats/ 1/2 cup all purpose flour/ 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt/ 1/3 cup packed brown sugar/ 1/3 cup white sugar/ 1/2 cup dried cranberries/ 1/2 cup white chocolate chips/ 1/2 cup chopped pecans

(Attach a tag with the following instructions:) 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a cookie sheet or line with parchment paper. 2. In medium bowl, beat together 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until fluffy. Add the entire jar of ingredients, and mix together by hand until well blended.  Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges start to brown.  Cool on baking sheets 5 minutes then remove to wire racks.

Baked Banana Pudding "From Linda Original"
8-10 Servings/Ingredients/3-4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced (rounds about 1/4" thick)/ 1 tablespoon lemon juice/3/4 cup granulated sugar/2 tablespoons granulated sugar (keep separate)/ 1/3 cup all-purpose flour/1/4 teaspoon kosher salt/4 large eggs, separate yolks & whites/ 2 cups half-and-half/1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract/45-50 vanilla wafers (I buy 2boxes, kids eat leftovers)/ 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar

Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.Put the banana slices in a bowl with lemon juice and set aside. This helps bananas from turning brown. Stir 3/4 cup of the sugar, salt, and flour in a 3-quart pot. Add the egg yolks and whisk to mix. Whisk in the half-and-half to mix. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly about 5 to 10 minutes (about 175 degrees F.) Keep stirring, don't walk away. Pudding will get thicker and bubble around the edges. Remove from heat and whisk in the vanilla extract. Spread a small amount (1/4 c) of the pudding in the bottom of 9x9 glass baking dish. Cover with a layer of vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of banana slices. Pour 1/3 of the remaining pudding on top of the bananas and repeat, ending with a layer of pudding.
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar with stand mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Spoon the meringue over the warm pudding, being sure to cover all the way to the edges. (If you dont seal the pudding with meringue to edges, it will weep when baking.) Bake until the meringue is evenly browned, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool for 15-20 minutes before serving. Cool completely before refrigerating. Refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Watch My Absolute Favorite Jon & Kate Plus 8 Episode: Gosselin Family Christmas

  1. FANTASTIC recipes. Can't wait to see which one gets picked!

  2. CraftyMom~ Corrina gave me a better recipe that I want to use called "hootycakes" but I'm adding the rescipe I replace it with here:

Pink Cream Salad (or green if you use green maraschino cherries) "From Corrina"

1 20 oz. can pineapple chunks/1 10 oz. jar maraschino cherries cut in half /1 8 oz. package cream cheese

2 Tablespoons sugar (can substitute 2 envelopes of Splenda)/1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream/Half of a 10.5 oz. bag miniature marshmallows

Drain the pineapple and cherries in separate strainers for at least half an hour so they don't add too much moisture to the salad and save the cherry juice. Beat the cream cheese, sugar and reserved cherry juice for 3 minutes. Then switch to the wire whip attachment and add 1 cup heavy whipping cream--whip and scrape the bowl often until well blended and fluffy--it will hold it's shape. (I use a stand mixer) Fold in the pineapple, cherries and half bag of marshmallows. Pour into a serving bowl and chill overnight. note: You can garnish the top with more cherries or pecan halves.

  3. That was fun to watch again. It's no wonder that Kate seems to try hard to maintain their way of living; she's determined to keep things traditional and stable. I do admire that.

  4. oooh all these recipes look wonderful. I can't wait to try them.

  5. Yum-O!!! Can't wait to try the popcorn twists, apple dip, hootycakes, and the pink cream salad.

Corrina - the hootycakes will be my gifts to neighbors next year!

  6. BM, thanks so much for the Christmas look back. It is amazing to see how much the precious 8 have grown and matured. My 6yr olds & 4yr olds keep watching over & over. They do love Kate & the kids and what a wonderful way to keep them entertained since school is out. I am in my 30th wk of gestation with boy sumo wrestlers. I can't imagine what going out in the real world with 3 sets of twins will be like!!!?? We already have NN types snapping pics via cell and pinching cheeks and rushing at the girls. I can and will attest to the fact that the curiosity, paps, etc.etc. will not stop even if Kate + 8 stops filming. I have lived it for 6 yrs and it gets worse everyday even from well meaning children & adults and even our church family. We have resorted to splitting them up between my parents, my in-laws & ourselves when we go shopping or on outings.

Merry Christmas to everyone at GFFS.

  7. Baby Mama--I can hardly wait to try the Caramel Corn Popcorn Twists, Apple Dip and Linda's Banana Pudding!! What a nice variety of new things to make. I know at least one little girl who wants to help stir them up with me. Thanks!!

    Christmas Blessings!!

  8. So sad that they are not together anymore. He actually looked happy in that clip. Boo, I hate divorce

  9. Cindy I get so upset when I see old episodes I really do. I feel like I'm watching my parents in happier times or something!

Thanks Puff for coming over and commenting. I really appreciate the support. My kids love love watvhing the old stuff. My daughter always asked me where are the videos of her when she was a child. I feel myself wanting to cry. When I first started this blog I had mentioned how my old computer gor a virus and wiped everything I had including all the baby videos. I'm still devasted that they were only able to get 3 back out of 40 and it cost me $100 at Best Buy.

Pisses me off so much when the haters don't see that the kids are extremely blessed to have these permanent memories of their family. Ones that they can enjoy over and over when they are older.

  10. Oh, isn't this the episode that irreparably harmed the Gosselin children(LOL) because it wasn't filmed on the 25th, since they probably had plans with extended family on that day and oh no, two Christmas celebrations is horrible exploitative parenting. You could look at it as a gift that keeps on giving since the Krieders have become self proclaimed child experts who make money on media visits partially based on it. LOL
On the serious side, I absolutely love to see Kate emphasising the giving of Christmas it is refreshing.

  11. Coming from a divorced family, I can't remember the last time I had only 1 Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Birthday. I don't mind it a bit. You actually get multiple days for the holidays then. Even if the episode here was before Christmas WHO CARES! I promise that the children were not tramatized because of it. For our family Christmas day is whenever we can all get together and have family time, get together and laugh, play games, tell stories, and enjoy being together. Sometimes that is the week before Christmas, oh well. I was never tramatized by doing holidays "different" from everyone else. Ours become our tradition.

  12. The whole point of my last post is to show that people who proclaim themselves experts on other people's children are wrong, they may make money or get attention for it, but in the end it does not help the kids one bit.
I for one am very thankful this season to have a blog to go to with friends who are interested in the same things I am like recipies, or Kate Gosselin, or doing things with the kids. Thank you BabyMama for keeping this as a fun place for us to get away for a bit of a break.

  13. I see the fly by arm chair critics are back again. I love how they spend time coming here and posting and then criticize our parenting right after. My son is sitting right next to me and he thought the post was ridiculous. He would like me to express that in no way me liking the Gosselins has had any direct impact on his life. He also said GET A LIFE. It's just a website.

I love the recipe post Baby Mama.

  14. Rhonda - Sigh. How very UNpleasant of you to drop by and instead of spreading happiness and cheer, you graced us all with your bile.

Here are some concepts that I'm sure are completely unknown to you.
    1. Friendship. Many of us who post regularly here are friends. As a "drive-by, drive-in sniper" I guess you wouldn't know that. If you are a repeat reader, then I can only assume you have a problem with long term memory storage.

    2. Recipes. We've enjoyed past recipes here of Kate's. A regular commenter here suggested having recipes here from our regular commenters.

    3. Example - Is the thought process you used to express your hatred the example you set for those in your family? How sad for them and you.

    4. Family - Baby Mama puts her family first. She often offers apologies to readers for delays because family came first.

    5. Ownership - This blog belongs to Baby Mama. She is the head honcho and she gets to set the tone, make decisions, etc. Don't like that concept? Don't let the door smack you in the hinny on your rush to post your venom on the next site.
Have very happy holidays!! And, the last novel concept for you? How about letting others enjoy theirs! Byeeeeeeeeeee!

  15. Right on, Craftymom, and Linda, you got it.

  16. Craftymom and Linda you're spot on. People like that have blah blah blah to say! Must be getting coal in their stocking.

  17. Rhonda - deleted your second post.

I forgot to add READ to my list. This is a Gosselin FAN site that is additionally proKate.

Get that? There are places where your attitudes and position would be welcome. This just doesn't happen to be one of them. I'm sure you have all of them bookmarked.

As the perfect parent, with the solution to every situation, may I suggest you write a book. That might be an excellent way to channel your energies in a constructive and positive way as well as allowing you make $$$. Should you not be able to find a publisher, you could always self publish on a mimeograph machine in the style and manner of Al, the tree climbing former reporter. Don't think he sold many but I'm sure you'll be much more successful.

  18. Linda I know you deleted the post but I had to respond.

I am laughing so hard right now I can't even breathe. The people I care about know real stuff about me.

The reason I responded is because my son, who is 13 and not really a child and if you did read and "know" me as you say you do, you'd know that, thought the post was ridiculous, as did I.

You know NOTHING about me in real life. If you think you do please feel free to educate me and send me an email. My contact info is under my screen name.

  19. CMo3 - Yeah, I know. Only reason I didn't delete her first post was it was so typical of many who believe it is their right to do anything, say anything, whenever and wherever they please. I wanted to respond to it, so left it up. Of course, when Baby Mama reads it, even the first one may be deleted along with responses to it, including mine.

I can say that our tolerance levels (Baby Mama's and mine) vary from day to day and depending on how much hate mail you've already deleted. Usually I try to warn several times before deleting. It's kind of amazing and sad how certain times of the year bring out the worst in some people.

When Baby Mama was on vacation and I was babysitting the blog alone, they were here 24/7 in droves. If she says she's busy or going to a party, they start sending the venom left and right. You get a bunch of "How dare you block my posts or delete them, it's my right to say what I want" garbage. Actually their rights cease where the next person's space begins. Get a life!

  20. Its my right to say what I want, yes, in my own house, my book or article that I am authoring, my own blog, etc. When I go to someome else's home, blog, program, etc, and I do not follow their rules, they can kick me out. An example is when I went to the Democratic Convention in 2008, there were abortion protesters outside on the street yelling babykiller, but they were not allowed inside Invesco Field to act like that. People forget that fact. If I want to write a critical review of a book, that is my right, the publisher is not obligated to publish it on the book's cover. When the people who I call religious solicitors come to my door, I am not obligated to open it up and listen to what they have to say, but if I choose to go to their church, I have to follow their rules.

  21. Okay, I am reading along the posts and I have a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Nice recipes, nice conversations, lamenting for days gone by, then WHAMO, what the heck was that Rhonda, I am to passive aggressive to allow any of my own personal info shown so I can spread hatred and rage among the pleasant.
LOL CM3 and son, I don’t think Rhonda understands what it is like to be so close and loving toward your family that your son can respond along with you regarding the absurdity of her post. I am sure her brain is spinning now on brain-washed we are and that she has to spread the word. Rhonda, sadly, you need a real life.
Thank you Linda for your moderation in BM’s absence.

  22. Okay let me try this again, my post before makes no sense. LOL. I am waiting for supper to finish cooking. I should NOT post before I eat... : )

  23. Rhonda~ Sadly you are another simple vile troll that only wishes to have what I have. Sadly you will never be able to know what a loving wonderful mother I am. I am blessed with amazing children and a husband that adores me.

Sorry you can't handle that. Feel free to let the door kick you on the way out.. Oh and Merry Christmas

  24. LOL CM3 and son, I don’t think Rhonda understands what it is like to be so close and loving toward your family that your son can respond along with you regarding the absurdity of her post.

fascinated...couldn't have said it better myself.

  25. Thanks for posting this Christmas episode, I watched it over again and it brought a tear to my eye. Still sad over who they all once were and who they are now. I know life goes on but this situation still makes me sad. Hope that each find their own true happiness, esp. the kids. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  26. Hi, and Merry Christmas to you all! All those recipes look so delicious and I wish I had all the time and energy to try them all. BM, maybe you or someone could compile a little recipe book with them and others that I've seen on previous threads to sell for one of your favorite charities like our church did a while back.

  27. Hi & welcome HappyMom4!

Before I forget, a very Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.

  28. I wonder if Kate has her shopping done. I bet the kids are excited for those sticky buns. I keep meaning to make those and not doing it. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy this holiday season and taking the time to enjoy it, it is the first year in twenty that we haven't had company or went out of town for Christmas and while we love our relatives dearly, we are enjoying

  29. Lucysmom~ Hello! I missed you and so glad to see you again. Hope your not a stranger next year on this site!

Sorry this morning we had to put the blog on moderation. Of course with Kate at the Flyers game, having a great time with the kids. All trolls are having a field day and sniffing all the fan sites looking to make a hit & run.

This morning I got to see my baby get up on a tiny stage with 6 other babies and try to sing "we wish you a Merry Christmas"! I was crying and was such a proud mama. The off to my second class party. Where I watched the kids pack a ton of sweets into their mouths and count the minutes till the vacation! We are now back & like jumping beans with the sweets. No naps for the kids= no break for me ;)

  30. I don't comment often but I wanted to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  31. Thank you Yourawoman! Glad to have you comment and Merry Christmas to you also!
Little bit under the weather o heading to bed to rest for now. Before I forget....Although it has been published here a number of times, here's Kate's Sticky Buns recipe in case somebody wants it and has misplaced it.

    Christmas Sticky Buns
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cans (16.3 oz each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, if desired (pecans can also be used)
    1/2 cup raisins, if desired
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
    Heat oven to 350°F.
Lightly grease 12-cup fluted tube pan. (Bundt pan)

In large plastic food-storage bag, mix sugar and cinnamon. Separate dough into 16 biscuits; cut each into quarters. Shake in bag to coat. Arrange in pan, adding walnuts and raisins among the biscuit pieces. Mix brown sugar and butter; pour over biscuit pieces. Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy in center. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn upside down onto serving plate; pull apart to serve. Serve warm.

  32. Okay now I have heard everything.

The story about Kate taking the kids to a museum and was seen wearing a "slim-fitting puffy jacket."

How is the even possible??? If you throw an elastic around a marshmallow's waste does it become a slim marshmallow. No! Those jackets are not slim fitting, they are puffy. LOL.

  33. Fascinated, the jacket does have a tailored effect, maybe that's what they were getting at. Those pictures make me nostalgic of our Philidelphia vacation, we didn't go to the art museum but we did ride the trolley in the background of the pictures. That museum takes up blocks, in fact the area where they are at has some of the most concentrated historical and art exhibits in the world. If our finances were different, we would move to a suburb of Philly for at least a year. I am very much a home body, but I love it there. I hope as the kids get older that with or without cameras, they go to the Constitution Center, Independence Hall, and to the other neat places.

  34. Fascinated, I haven't heard any of that. Glad I stay away from the tabloids.

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! See you in the new year!!

  35. I learn my lesson everytime I sneak a peak at some ROL story. I end up shaking my head.

  36. Theres not a bigger contradiction than a "slimming" puffy jacket! I'm wondering when this is going to air and whether it will be added to the other filming we have heard from as of late. I think it's great they are in Philly. I'm surprised living in PA that they didn't do more episodes of the kids learning about that great City!

  37. I saw tons of 8 Little Faces book at the Dollar Store.

  38. Jessie - I buy books a lot at the Dollar Store. Found some great ones last week that were by some of my favorite mystery writers still being sold by Amazon at the $15 hardcover price so a great buy! Whenever I find those bargains, I pick up some to donate to hospital libraries, etc. Funny, they seldom have paperbacks at our Dollar Stores but have a lot of hardbacks. Our kids have about worn out their copy of Eight Little Faces so I'll check again to see if there are any locally.

  39. Last ones I bought were some of James Patterson's issued last year.

  40. I agree Linda, a lot of hard copy books are sold at discount book stores, I seldomly see paperbacks. I prefer hard cover books and when they have been reduced in price, I like them even better. LOL.

I also like your idea of buying them to donate to others.

  41. Hi guys, I miss you!
I was without internet for 12 days because of a damn now I'm more radius ... my god I'm so outdated even know where to start!
you guys know why the blog of Kate's not with the space to post comments?

kissing girls update me on everything I hope soon!

  42. Hello everyone and good afternoon! Where is everyone today? Who is runnning around crazy getting their last minute shopping done??

Today I had the most amazing time with my family. We went to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rocketts. My kids had a blast with friends of ours. It's better than I remember it, and that was years ago. Highly recommend it! But it was such a nightmare getting a taxi today. The city was mobbed on this busy freezing cold day~!

Of course now I wait until AFTER I get back from places because boy is Linda right. The trolls that are obsessed with this site literally jump on the second that I say I'm stepping out for a bit. Seriously, if people are not out getting ready for the Holidays than they should be. Just don't forget to sop in and say hi!!

Thank you to those who have popped in. Wh have over 630+ followers and only a handful comment (BUT THEY ALL READ) So please feel free this Holiday to let it be your first time commenting! I want to know who has oe one of our recipes yet, or have more to share! xoxoxox

  43. I suspected the trolls must have been in full force.

I am all done my shopping, wrapping, and running around. I have all day today to sort out laundry and clean the house.

My husband, children, and I are celebrating Christmas tomorrow morning after my husband gets off work. In the afternoon we are helping the food bank prepare for tomorrow's Christmas dinner. Then the kids and I are heading out of town to celebrate Christmas with extended family. My husband is going to join us on Christmas day if he doesn't have to work over-time.

My husband asked my daughter (16 yrs) if she was upset that he may not be spending Christmas day with us and that we had to celebrate on a different day.

I had to laugh because my daughter's response to our non-traditional celebration was "This is so wonderful, Christmas is going to be great." My husband was kind of hurt and I said I think she is more excited about being able to open the gifts early as opposed to not see you. I then asked her if Christmas would be as good if we had to celebrate it next Monday. She said, no that would be terrible.... LOL.

  44. Hi again, I forgot to wish a happy Christmas to you ... hope you guys tomorrow on the eve can enjoy a lot!
Irate Kate's blog is still canceled for comments right now I need! I hope this mistake will soon be repaired.

~ hum already here feel the smell of recipes banana pudding blog will do the same tomorrow!

  45. Merry Christmas to you too jacque.

  46. Next Thursday Oprah is announcing the top 10 people who have a chance at being the next tv host.

  47. Then Jesse you are lucky! I paid full price for mine but Kate signed it to my daughters so it's precious to me! But of course the haters will just love it.

  48. Ugh I forgot to add something. But I dread posting from my IPhone bit I'm not home yet.. Sigh. I wanted to say that I was really disappointed that Kate wasn't able to tour for her recent book . Even if she did just a local East Coast thing, the book sales would have been huge. ESP since the book sold out in UpState New York. She has sop many fans there and that's one of places I went to meet her.

  49. I love the Christmas episode too. Its one of my all time favs, as well as the Disney World episode and the little ones big birthday bash, when they turned 3. Ahh memories. I miss these old episodes and wish TLC would show them sometime. Anyway, what is pineapple casserole? Has anyone ever had it? It does sound very yummy.

  50. I'm here BabyMama! My hubby has had the last two days off so I have been running around with him. My body is paying me back for all the running with wicked headaches, so I am off to bed.

Hope every one gets their shopping done!

  51. Welcome Momofgungies! Yes it does sound yummy, and I hope some of you wonderful ladies make some of these delicious treats.

Today I was barely home, so the kids were not happy I put them to bed even though it was 9pm. They are still so wired. I talked to my eldest about a comment she made today. She told me that her friends at school were talking about how there was no Santa Clause. I love it when these stupid sites say that The Gosselin kids are "destroying" the lives of the kids in their school by saying there is no Santa. It's laughable.

So my ever intelligent daughter came back to the kids by saying. "Well I believe in Santa, and so I will get all the presents I want and you wont!" I was so proud of my daughter for sticking up for herself. She talked about how one of the kids told her that he knew there was no Santa becauase the notes on the presents were in his mothers handwriting. Once again my wonderful daughters says. "I believe what I want. I saw Santa's note to me and it was from HIM!. Mommy and I are giving him Oreos!"

My point. Kids can and will speak up for themselves. When they are ready to not believe, they will no longer beleive. Stop using that stupid petty "we don't even know if it's true" comment, and stop attacking the Gosselin kids. And stop trying to use that to attack their mom.

  52. You are right on Babymama, I noticed that the Grinch who Stole Christmas was showing on tv and laughed as I thought of The Gosselins Who Ruined Christmas and thought of Kate in a Scrooge outfit

  53. enjoy this everyone!!!

  54. BM - when my kids still believed and asked me the question about Santa, I always asked them what they thought. I let them reason it out for themselves, and talked to them, directing my comments based on theirs.

They believed as long as they chose to and stopped believing when they choose to.

  55. May Everyone have a Joyous and Loved Filled Christmas!!

    Link: Merry Christmas To All

  56. May everyone have a really nice Christmas Eve and Christmas, spending it with people who give you joy and not those who hate or bring you down. Life is precious. The joy of a young child at the little things such as lit up houses or santa shaped cookies is a happiness that I hope for everyone. I am thankful for all of my cyber friends, my life is more special with you all in it.

  57. Happy Christmas Wishes to everyone. I am also so very thankful for my new cyber friends!! What a blessing you are! I could also "share" some of this snow!! My baking is finally done and the gifts are wrapped!! Yaayyy!

  58. Merry Christmas again to all.!!!
Fish Christmas was cute! Thanks for posting it.
Corrina, we have snow forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

  59. I love all of you. The ones that have supported this site, the ones that have been here from the beginning. The ones that changed their points of view. The ones that no longer post here.

All of the these people have shaped this blog into what it is today. I will be back later, but just wanted to quickly say Merry Christmas to all. I am so happy I started this site, because I would have never have met any of you. Almost 3 years later and still going STRONG! And were not going ANYWHERE! XOXOXOXOXOX

  60. I had wished for a happy Christmas to you before, including Corrina answered me back, thank Corrina, but today is the day for supper then Merry Christmas to you cyber friends that I love very much. surely not going anywhere BM. I hope that Jesus, open the eyes of those who spread evil to others and he will bless each of you.
I'm only sad for kate's blog have a problem I wanted desejadar very happy Christmas to her and the babies ...

my relatives are coming soon I need to fix!
    ~ kisses *

  61. Hello Kate and her 8 fans! Jacque, my little Brazilian fan, so glad to hear from you again...was worried when we got no comments here from you!!

Alas this post about all the cooking goodies leaves me depressed! I'm not so good in that department. But hey, hubby and kids still refuse to give me away!!!

It's been sort of quiet for Kate and I am thankful for her and the kids in that regard. Looks like the "inside sources" decided to give the rumor mill a rest.

I'd really like for those two (Jon and government worker) to make a New Year's resolution to leave Kate alone and quit with all the media harrassment.

You two (if you are indeed so in love) should move on with your lives and focus on just being better people. Jon needs to focus on gainful employment and a more civil relationship with Kate.

It's a time to reflect on the past year's activities and accomplishments. And with that reflection, there needs to be the goal of doing better in one's life and looking for ways to grow in love and good deeds!

Everyone stay positive and wishing you all the best...certainly for Kate and her little ones...in the coming year!

  62. Love the Fish Christmas!! Thank You tiggerfan!

  63. Firedup4kate, I LOVE that, "Jon and the government worker"

  64. firedup a special Merry Christmas to you, do not be worried about me more, as well as my mother says I'm smart lol, just told my age these things because I trust you all that although there are smart people and cruel in the world too.

~ fireworks bursting already high here!

  65. Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

  66. Hello everyone! Happy Christmas Eve! Yes I'm back. I live and breathe this blog remember? lol. I just finished the last of the wrapping. We got home a bit early from our big party tonight. Christmas Eve is always with my family. And it's always a huge party with lots of food and music. This year everyone seemed sick as a dog. But the kids were still patient and got a HUGE assortment of toys. So it was hard to wind them down and off to bed. Santa is almost here!

I hope to hear from all my follwers this week. Even the ones that don't normally post! Have a very Merry Christmas! May you be blessed with all you wished for. I love you all!! xoxoxox

Holy smoke! Who do I hear on the roof????

  67. Again, Merry Christmas to all! Wonderful day here and hope yours is also, filled with love, family and friends.
Corrina, we've had brief snows in Nov and Dec but never before, ever, a snow on Christmas day (other than traces too small to measure.) my kids are ecstatic 'cause it's snowing like crazy! Supposed to snow all night and again tomorrow. Since it never snowed on Christmas in my grandparents lives, my patents, or mine, the kids are calling it a miracle, lol. I keep saying take lots of photos and play hard so you'll remember it to tell your own children!

(of course, since Hubby grew up in same state as you, Corrina, he says they always had snow and it's no big deal to him. For us, it's a big deal, lol. They've got sleds, etc. ready to go a first light tomorrow.)

  68. Baby Mama - Merriest of Greetings! FYI, we've made sticky buns, fascinated's popcorn twists, Corrina's pink cream salad, CMo3's apple skor dip, and we always have banana pudding for part of dessert at Christmas. BUT, I'm always cooking, lol. I want to know what YOU cooked or baked?, lol. Just kidding and teasing of course.
Jacque - good to see you post.
Gee Whiz - glad to have you back again!

  69. Puff - Are you excited over the snow? I swear that's turning out to be more exciting than opening presents, lol.hope it stays puffy snow and no ice to take down power lines.

  70. I hope everyone has enjoyed their day, I know I have. We have had beautiful weather and I hope it stays that way until tuesday when we see lights at the zoo. Hopefully tomorrow we'll go out for the sales, especially the expensive christmas candy that we usually don't get, can't get too much though because after my birthday in two weeks, it's diet time. I also hope the Gosselins had more peace this year.

  71. Merry Christmas to my Wonderful Divas! Yes that right, I said it. We all know we are the REAL Divas here!

It's 1am. I finally get a moment to relax. This was the first Christmas I was hosting. And what a massive stressful day and clean up. When you go over to someone elses house it's great right? What a difference when it's in your own place. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. It's hard to beleive it was over already.

My parents were all upset that they had left some of there presents at home by mistake. I was expalining to them the over abundance of toys and gifts my kids had been given. Funny is the baby got the most joy from her own Build-a-Bear. Once we sat down to discuss all that we were thankful for, screaming about getting the house ready for my first party seemed downright silly.

I know Kate was supposed to have the kids for Christmas day. I know as a mom there is not one thought that I would not be whole if I was not able to enjoy this day with my children. I try to think about divorced families and how lonely it must be when the kids have to go to their fathers house the same weekend. And now with this snow storm coming, I hope that the Gosselin children have a wonderful rest of the weekend with their father.

And I once again thank them for introducing me to all you lovely people. Even the ones that just read. Hope you will be around for my new post I will do if to keep myself sane if there is a blizzard! xoxox

  72. Good Morning! It's hard to believe how quickly Christmas Day went. Seems like we've been preparing for it the whole month.

Linda--Your snowy Christmas Day is a miracle! You'll be able to do a whole scrapbook with just this one event! Yes we have plenty of snow
and last year was our first time ever having to
celebrate Christmas the day after due to blizzard conditions. I hope you liked the pink salad--I actually made three batches to have enough for everyone. The 3rd batch was with two
small cans of oranges and little snowmen marshmallows for a grandchild who doesn't like pineapple.

Baby Mama--I hope you took lots of pictures yesterday. You are so right about how different it is to have the celebration at your home compared to going to someone else's house and it's all over too quickly. We were thinking about Kate and the kids yesterday too--just imagining buying all the kids' gifts and we know Kate wrapped everything and made it fun for them.

tashapork--Have fun shopping today and Happy Birthday in two weeks. Our oldest grandchild's birthday is Jan.5.

  73. Good morning everyone! I'm going to run like the wind to try return a few things before the snow. I just wanted to say I got the ingredients to make on my own the winner of the sweets recipes.. The winner? Well the kids and I will be making the Hootycreeks today! They are so excited. I chose this one because there was no time yesterday to fiddle in a kitchen. Today as we watch the snow fall the kids will help mommy learn how to bake. Or something.

In all honesty Linda's recipe was a bit intimidating for a newbie. My mom put together the Skor apple Dip yesterday and it was delicious! And though my clear winner was the popcorn twists, theres nothing like that by me. Does anyone know if it fled out the same if you use just plain popcorn? Anyway, when the weather outside is frightful Baby Mama will make baking delightful. Or maybe not, we shall see!

  74. And I meant to say "comes out the same". Why did my phone change that? Sorry! Anyway tiles I see a slight touch of snow! Hope everyone has a fun snuggle day!

  75. Baby Mama - you're right. The Banana Pudding is intimidating for a newbie. It's one of those Southern recipes that we are reared cooking with our mothers and grandmothers. It's definitely a Southern comfort food. It's a lot of standing there stirring for a very long time for the custard pudding part of it. It's served with love. When you get this for dessert, you know they cared enough to make it. My youngest says "When you get 'Nana puddin' you can't be mad at anybody 'cause those kind of thoughts just fly out of your head."

We'd planned to take the kids snowboarding, tubing, and skiing for several days, beginning today. However, in the South we don't have an abundance of snow plows. When it snows much, the roads are shut down, including Interstate Highways! (Call us wimps or whatever.) With 8" and still snowing but lighter now, I don't think we can get down our road much less out to the Interstate. Most ski areas closed to incoming traffic due to roads (Yeah, ski area closed because of snow!??)

Thus, I've shopping online (Disney online semi-annual sale started today!) Kids are snowboarding and tubing down the driveway - They shoveled a big berm to stop them at the bottom just above a creek. I'm convinced they'll all die and Hubby says they'll be fine, so he's supervising outside not me! I'm heading down to kitchen to stand and stir a batch of custard, into which we stir snow, making Southern snow cream! It's delicious.

Maybe Corrina's Hootycreeks will keep them all occupied tonight?! (While the dryer runs nonstop drying out all those layers of wet clothes, lol.)

    Have a great day all!

  76. Baby Mama - I only had small bag of popcorn twists and used regular popcorn for second batch; turned out great in that kids ate it all in about 5 minutes!

  77. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone. I went to the inlaws yesterday so didn't have the stress of cooking. Did a lot of cleaning, but I didn't mind.

I agree with Linda, I think you can use plain popcorn. You can also put nuts and dried fruit into the mix. Tastes great.

We are off to the lake for a few days now to relax even more. ahh, I live a charmed life for sure.

Take care everyone and safe travels.

  78. Baby Mama - Passing along my favorite hors d'oeuvres recipe. It's easy. I promise. At the bottom is a video link to one on YouTube demonstrating. I stuff mine with a bit of blue cheese before baking.
    Bacon Wrapped Dates
Ingredients: Rasher of bacon (cut right in the middle of whole Rasher to divide into shorter pieces), pitted dates, blue cheese, toothpicks.
    Preheat oven to 425
Line baking sheet with foil. Stuff small amount of blue cheese into days. Wrap date with bacon and secure with toothpick. Place on baking sheet. Bake 5 mins, turn with tongs and bake 5-7 mins more until bacon is crisp. Remove to serving plate. Good hot or at room temp. I do not add dorky umbrellas, though, as does Aarti Sequiera, lol.

  79. Keeps changing dates to days. Sorry. Despise that auto chango thingy, lol.

  80. Christmas was great and fast and I am completely wiped! We met in our usual farmhouse but only 40 people were there this time because of other family obligations and the snowy weather. Seem downright quiet!(We usually have anywhere from 60-70 people on my mom's side)

I got a flip camera from my mom & dad which I am really psyched about. It's a HD one and the picture is awesome. Maybe those tutorial videos aren't such a long shot now Linda!

  81. Hello everyone! The baby finally went down to take a nap and I finally get a chance to put up a new post. It's so bad out there! I don't know if you guys are getting the quick Blizzard that we are.. but enjoy your Sunday! and feel free to comment on the new post. It's the yummy scent of hot coccoa with marshmellows!

  82. Ohh and Linda, I can't wait to try that one. My hootycreeks burnt a bit but they smell great and hopefully taste good too! lol
