Alaska News: More Sarah Palin & Kate Gosselin, Who Wishes They Were A Gosselin Kid? Great Fan/Hate Debate

Sarah Palin teams with Kate Gosselin in "Kate Plus Eight": Salon.com

The two famous moms join forces for what will be a ratings bonanza. "Worst Dad in the World" nominee Jon Gosselin recently complained on Twitter that he hasn't seen his eight kids in weeks. Well, he might have to wait a bit longer -- it looks like the tykes are in Alaska with their mom, Kate Gosselin, reportedly filming an episode of "Kate Plus Eight" with Sarah Palin.

It's a tag-team of famous moms destined for colossal ratings. But the cable network that airs the show, TLC, has not confirmed the former governor's appearance. All signs indicate that it will happen, though. Yesterday Gosselin and her kids were spotted at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage, which is just 45 miles away from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. And Palin, media savvy as she is, already has TLC ties: Earlier this year it was announced that she was working on a series for the network, called "Sarah Palin's Alaska." What better way to promote her own show than by appearing on TLC's most popular program?
A source says Palin, Gosselin and the kids are going camping -- television cameras in tow, of course -- where Palin's father, a retired science teacher, and brother, a third-grade educator, will conduct a hands-on natural history lesson. It is unkown if Palin will take the kids moose hunting or show them the view of Russia from her porch.

Stop, stop the bad mom attacks on poor Kate Gosselin! Hollywoodlife.com

There are far worse mothers in America, I can assure you than the infamous mom of eight. If you want to get all worked up about negligent mothers then I can direct you to the pages of The New York Post, for any number of examples of mothers, who go shopping and leave their babies alone or worse allow their boyfriends or baby daddies to beat their little ones. Save your rage for them. And when it comes to celebrity mothers, I’m fine with you finger pointing at Dina Lohan, who should take big blame for her hot mess of a daughter Lindsay.

But leave Kate alone! I have no problem with her turning her adorable eight into TV stars — in fact, I want to be one of her brood. I want to go camping with Kate and Sarah Palin in Alaska. How fun would that be?. Alaska is gorgeous, you can bet the Gosselins are going to get the best camp site, the best tents and the best cookout in the state. And who wouldn’t want to play with Willow, Piper and baby Trig. But that would have only been my latest adventure as one of Kate’s kids this summer. I would have escaped my home in Pennsylvania for Discovery Cove animal park in Orlando, hung out in the super posh Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in LA while my mommy was on Dancing With The Stars, and had lunch in NYC’s Chinatown.

Furthermore, I’d have the cutest outfits to wear at all times, my own personal bodyguard/piggyback provider, TV production assistants willing to fetch me anything I needed and I’d be banking a paycheck. Who wants to grow up and THEN be starting with a bank account of zero. Kate’s kids will get a step up in life — with money they’ve already made, when they turn 21. If I were one of Kate’s kids I’d say thanks mom, for giving me an ultra exciting childhood, adventures and experiences I never would have had as the daughter of the average nurse, and for setting me up with some financial freedom, so that I could pursue the career or passions I wanted , instead of having to scramble for dollars when I was a young adult.
So back off Kate bashers and admit it — wouldn’t you like to go camping in Alaska this weekend, for free, and with your mom and the Mama Grizzly herself?

  1. I wish they didn't feel the need to bash anybody but I agree, pick on a different person. I understand the Alaska permits are in order just as the ones in NY were so could they please head in a different direction! How about the beauty of Alaska? Ok Baby Mama, get busy sharing those photos you spent the day scanning! Come on, share!

  2. WOW, for a Kate hater, she didn't have much to say.

  3. Linda I swear Im sending a few to you within the next hour. A few of my friends want me to send them and I dont know how to use a scanner very well. I'm just learning and Ive had this thing forever! I'm going to post ones w/out me on the right..look out for them. Do you have another delicious snack photo I can post as well to change it up a bit??

I really loved Bonnie's article. Funny pretend debate and typically hater mentality. lol

  4. Baby Mama, I love rhe Skagway photo but it repeats twice on my screen. Did you mean that? Sorry, I have lots of dessert photos and snack photos but all I can find right now either have me, my hubby, or the kids. I'd never give the h folks the real photos of my kids. They've published some but they weren't my kids. Funny, a few years ago I wouldn't have hesitated, but these weirdos are frightening. I'll have hubby bring up the other laptop in the morning if you can wait. If not, time to 86 the other one. I know there were sone candied fruits and grapes. They tinted the sugar frosting.

  5. Or maybe somebody has a baked Alaska. That'd be appropriate!

  6. There are many wonderful opportunities in Alaska the Gosselin Family may be experiencing while in Alaska. They could see the Gulf of Alaska Sea life, learn about the interesting Alaska Native culture, visit a glacier or pan for gold. How do I know this you may ask? Because my husband googled it...did you know there are 1101 activities for kids in Alaska on one site alone? Alaska, is a place he wants to visit.

I of course I'm still lobbying hard for Disney...I almost had him convinced, until some ding-dongs he works with told him horror stories about crowds, long lines, screaming children, expense, and that only one of our kids was old enough to enjoy it(but she does not like rides)did I mention the crowds. That was really the wrong thing to tell him!

The thing is everyone has their own opinions about what is enjoyable entertainment & preferences for the perfect holidays. How wonderful for the Gosselins that they have all these options & experiences.

I do think it would be fun to go to Alaska with the kids, and we may one day go. My sisters husband feels the same way about Disney(How we ended up with two anti-Disney fans in our family IDK) so we are considering a trip together & we may just leave the grumps behind.

Although, I will probably wait until the baby is a little bit older..she's a wild woman & a one person job.

My sister might get overwhelmed with the 4 other kids she would have to tend to. Also, I'd like for them all to remember the trip at least somewhat..it may be a one shot deal.

  7. Momsby~ Happy to see you! I feel sad to hear anyone who is an anti-Disney fan! The cruise was more that my husband is not a heat and tropics kinda guy. But this is more of an older adult expierence since again, we were one of the youngest couples on the ship.

This will be a huge coo for the state of Alaska..I hear those cruise ships booking as we speak! lol

    ReplyDelete
  8. Not a Palin fan but to see the two together....that would be good tv.

Momsby I have been to Disney and if hubby feels that way don't take him during the peak season. It will be more fun for him that way. And hi!

    Linda rest!

  9. This one is going to be hard for me because I really don't care for Sarah Palin, she goes on the news, I change channels. I will watch because I love the kids, but the Sarah parts do not excite me.

  10. I've never had a true desire to see Alaska, though many people I know that have gone absolutely love it! I have a feeling after this episode, I'm going to be convinced that I must go - just like Discovery Cove! I love that they are going on all these fun trips! How I would love to take my girls, too... but the lower 48 will have to do for now :)

  11. Sniff, Sniff, Hmmmmm, Cookies & Cream. AHHH! Now I am going to want Ice Cream all day! Vanilla is just one of my favorite scents, and then there's Blueberry, and so many more.

Alaska - I wonder if this will be considered the special Birthday trip for Mady and Cara? Since it is too cold to go there later in the year. If I were there Mom that's what I would tell them, because the 6 and too young to appreciate all that they will see. Except If they see the big animals like whales, bears and ice burgs and stuff. Then later they can have more parties.
Summer is fading fast and they will be back in school soon.

  12. I'll camp with Kate & the kids! But Palin is pushing it...lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. I will be in the Philidelphia airport on Thursday morning and then again on Sunday morning. (Leaving central IL for Atlantic City.) If I saw Kate, I would be too timid to approach her, but I would post a report here!

    ReplyDelete
  14. How Interesting would that be...Sarah and Kate. Two very Strong women, balancing Home and Career. I for one would love to sit in on that conversation.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Have we actually heard that Sarah Palin is involved other than from the rag US Weekly? Shouldn't others be confirming? Can anybody comment.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was laughing last night. Does anybody else find the comments on location funny? They finally went to NY & Statue of Liberty which some had griped about for more than 6 months. Then it was supposedly too hot, never mind that's when the majority of other visitors go. Then they go to Alaska and the same group gripes that it's too cold there and they should be back in PA enjoying the heat 'cause there are only a few months of warm weather. You have to laugh. Other parents are lauded for taking their kids to the same places. Wonder if Palin the Republican will take on Murt the Republican?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Good morning Linda O. About the Palin rumor, I heard NY Daily News contacted TLC to confirm and the TLC spokesperson had no comment.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lori Anne - lol well they left that pretty ambiguous didn't they.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey I have an idea for Jon. He wants to be in TV and that seems to be all he'ms considering. He's really gotten into tattoos and he loves his motorbike. So how about a show where he travels the country on his bike visiting tattoo shops. Hopefully he won't get a sample at each stop. It could be called "Travelling Tattoos" or "Tatts on the Go". I'm not being snarky although I really don't like tattoos. If Jon does that's his business. He could be on TV and check out tatts. It would be like the cooking shows that have travelled only in this case it's a biker checking the tatts. He could control shooting against when he has visitation. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jon has spent the past year showing us he has no work ethic and no desire to work. It completely pisses me off that the man is such a slag. Yet people have the balls to attack Kate for working. The trolls piss me off to no end. This man has made NOT one attempt to go out there and DO something with his life! He's botching about not seeing his kids, but don't fret my friends! He's gonna spend the week chillin with his girlfriend! How great for him!

He wants the kids to cone back so he can tell the paps to photograph him. He td Ellen that dinner out at TGI Fridays would have to wait till next week when he got his "p people" money..score! Got this months rent!

Ugh I can't take it, no wonder she divorced him...

FYI I hate trying to comment using my phone, but I'm baking out here to get the kids out inthe pool today. 97• stay cool everyone! Oxox that's why I'm so cranky today!!! Lol

    ReplyDelete
  21. Linda O - I think that idea for Jon would suit him and maybe some of the guys at American Chopper! I bet they would even furnish the road bikes to get the PR, and go along for the ride.

Another of your great ideas is the Baked Alaska, and if I had a picture, I would sent to BM. I love that stuff.

Gotta go, tonight I am watching my new Grandchild for their first night out. She is now 4-1/2 weeks old. I am so proud to be the first one to get her. CU

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'll wait for the show to air. But I am completely against including the woman who lives in Alaska on Kate + 8. I support Kate whole-heartedly. I even watched and voted for DWTS.

I would love a cruise in Alaska. A friend did it and LOVED it.

But not that woman! I can only hope that TLC does not go to that arena. And I would blame TLC...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Holli Day, I was under the impression that TLC had offered Sarah Palin a reality show. Does anyone know the status on that? If so, it's possible they will film the two families together as a cross-over episode to introduce Palin's show to the audience.

    ReplyDelete
  24. BabyMama - I have been reading your blog for some time but have never posted before. It's refreshing to find a forum where differences of opinion are discussed rationally and maturely. I'll admit I probably became more of a "fan" after reading some of the petty, vitriolic attacks on this family elsewhere, most of which are so obviously based on nothing more than rumor or conjecture. I look forward to coming here more often.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Shirley, let me be first to welcome you. It's a big step from reading to posting!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I still suspect the Palin visit is rumor given the source. They do so much junk that it's hard for me to believe them at all. If it had been People, maybe. IMO the rumor rag US is just about in the category of reporting the latest alien invasions along with the Jolie-Pitt breakup of the month. But just MO.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I believe Palin was given a show on TLC, so the rumor could just be based on the fact that one TLC show is visiting where another TLC show may take place. And if it is true, TLC probably cannot comment on it yet. YET!

Linda, I like the idea of Jon on the road searching out creative tattoo artists. TLC has Tattoo shows already so it would fly with their audience. Mikey from TLC would be a great cohost on his motorbikes or whatever they are called. You better call TLC and make the suggestion!!

  29. MaryBeth Who let you out of jail? lol The trolls didn't want you today? Please go elsewhere, we don't want your kind here...love and light!

  30. I see the head troll and one of her minions flew by on their brooms. Scat! You aren't invited! Aren't you worried about exposure to daylight shriveling you.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Tiggerfan, I would send my idea to Jon via Twitter. But after I set up the new account, I can't remember the password, lol. I've never tweeted on it and there are followers. How weird is that? I don't guess I'm the Twitter type anymore. I'll have to let somebody else send him the idea. Doesn't matter to me about any credit. I'd just like to see him employed! I think it might change his outlook.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So that is what you do, delete posts who are objective and just offer up an observation.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not me, this is a fan site. It is our choice to be here.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sweetie seriously, this is a fan site. Im done with being nice...If your here to cause trouble take it elsewhere. I think I have been incredibly gracious to those that come here. But if your not a fan of Kate Gosselin I don't want you posting here and if you romotely piss me off then your done. Have a great day.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is my 3rd post on here, EVER. I just want you to respect the eight childrens father, just as you do their mother, instead of the rather biased comments you post in regard to him. Is that so wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Not Me - once I was a colossal Jon supporter. Now, I find him embarrassing at times. Still , I'd like to see him succeed. Perhaps to have One woman who remains the love of his life for a whole year. Still, I'd like to see him find a job doing what he likes. Thus my suggestion earlier for a show traveling to see tattoo shops and doing it on his motorbike that he loves! A job doing things he likes on tv where he wants to be!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Linda; I don't twitter so I'm not gonna send the idea. I think you should send it to him through a valid email and put your "credentials" behind it. I'd probably watch it a show like that cuz i like design.

    tig

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tigger - I know his Twitter addy but have no idea what his real email addy is. I did try to send it to his agent and to TLC so we'll see. His contract with TLC expires in August. The hardest thing for him in tv is that he violated a contract big time. It's pretty hard to get people to risk it again. Hopefully he can overcome that. If he wants to work in TV I wish him luck. I'd suggest he quit Twittering and let his agent talk for him. Poor guy gets in trouble when he talks much. IMO.

  39. I am excited about the Gosselin Alaska trip show. I LOVE Alaska, my Mom lived up there for 5 years and all of my Mom's family lives up there. I look forward to going to Alaska and would love to see what the Gosselin's decide to do.

    ReplyDelete
  40. NotMe~ please show me where you are on GWOP or any other troll sites asking them to stop attacking Kate. I mean I know you won't get posted over there, but I wad wondering if you were asking them the same questions to give Kate the same courtesy? If this is the first site you have been to then I apologize, but I gave a feeling you have seen the hate sites no?

    ReplyDelete
  41. And Im sorry if I sound like I'm attacking you and you feel you don't deserve it. But this is my site and seriously you needent tell me how to run it thanks. Ohh and sorry to everyone if my phone is changing my words! It's "was" not "wad"!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Linda O - I think your Jon TV show is a good idea. I don't like the guy and what he did to his family, that's for sure. But I agree that if he had a job, J-O-B, he might settle a bit and that would benefit the entire family. Good going!

    ReplyDelete
  43. BabyMamma, may I join. I have always seen BMs site talked about on the other sites, but didnt know what it was until just now. I have posted on SWE, SWOP, RWA and ROL.(always under the same screen name). I am a huge Kate fan and no matter what site I go to other than SWE, there is always trouble when I cannot be convinced to change my point of view. I always try to respect others opinions even if they do differ from my own, and I never try to get them to change their decision. They own the right to their opinion and its a personal decision.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Short - you posted here last Thursday; or somebody using your screenname did. We have people here pro Kate, pro Jon, and I don't know of any who aren't pro kids. It's Baby Mama's site and she decides. If you are comfortable at gwop, and comfortable at rwa, you probably won't be comfortable here, but that's JMO. I cantvthink of anybody here who'd be comfortable at rwa. We are a fan site, thus the name of the blog.

    ReplyDelete
  45. NO..I dont post at RWA any longer, tried it but its nasty. No on GWOP. I am comfortable with SWE and so far at SWOP. I dont remember ever posting here or I would of had it on my fav list. I am a Fan of Kate and kids, not so much Jon these days, but try not to post much about him.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Short - Somebody must have used your screenname, then. It was a nice post about you envying them this trip to Alaska and it was a trip you'd always wanted to make. Your dad had been there and loved it. Then the person said maybe they'd find a rich sugar daddy to take them. Lol, it was that comment that made me remember it. Anyway, IMO, it was a nice post.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can recommend Shortnsaszy. I saw her comments on 15 Minutes Gosselin Style in early June and she is definitely pro Kate/Gosselins. She is legit.

Baby Mama, I love your photo of the day!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Short - if you are pro Gosselin, you should find a very happy home here and many very nice people with whom to chat. Baby Mama is extremely tolerant. You occasionally get some people who only come to cause mayhem. Baby Mama gives them a couple of warnings. If they persist, she permanently bans them. Those of us who are pro Kate, pro Jon, and pro Kids, greatly appreciate that. Most stay away after that. A few, like the head troll, just like to cause misery to others. I firmly believe that karma will one day bring her a day of reckoning.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good evening everyone! Welcome Shortnsaszy!!

This year in Gosselin blogland has been an interesting one. After a full year of ONLY me: my 110% pro site against hate sites like GWOP & a few more I wont mention things are changing. Poeple begain thinking they could do better as their own boss and created their own blogs. They grew like weeds. Some new completely pro-kate, oddly springing a million comments in it's ints first month by the same 6 people and sucessfully copying my entire blog....others sucessfully started interesting debate sites soley on their own. But if you notice, it's never TRULY in the middle.

I mention this because 90% of the people that post on blogs at least know about and do post or read at various sites. There is something for everyone now, and sadly if people don't find what they want here its just as easy to go elsewhere. And thats hard for me, who last year had almost up to 100,000 hits on my site in one month.

Im getting to my point now. That being, there is no reason for someone to come on this site asking questions of validity or where my site should go. You know damn well your only coming here to piss me and my fellow commenters off and cause trouble. If you are new I welcome you with open arms. But when you start asking me questions about my site right out of the gate or telling me here how to run things even though I pretty much started things, your behind is leaving. PERIOD.

Fans wouldn't last a minute on one of those trash sites, yet I'm the only site thats supposed to allow all sides of the arguement. NOT HAPPENEING ANYMORE. If your not a fan of the show, willing not to say anything negative about Kate Gosselin, please peddle your wares elsewhere. Those that want to have a nice debate stay. I wont be tolerating it anyomre. Nor will I be repeating this a million times like I seem to need to lately. I hope my commenters come back, because I have lost many to this trash. Those that are not fans of the show, do not post here. I will delete you.

Everyone else I can't wait to chat with you. Now lets move on AGAIN...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why would anyone who is pro-Jon/anti-Kate post here unless they wanted to cause a controversy? I know that I don't always make postive observations about Kate but I truly admire her taking her situation to task. She is a strong woman, makes an effort to improve herself and takes care of her family.

With that said, even though I'm sure most don't like Palin because of her political position, it amazes me that women will tear her down simply because of that, while seeing the same characteristics in Kate and admiring her. They are both strong, positive, focused, family-oriented women who are ready to take on their world. BM, I'm not trying to start any trouble and cause a debate. It was just an observation that I hope you will allow.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm neither Republican nor Democrat. I've voted both ways. I knew little about Obama and read his book. I knew little about Palin and read her book. I don't know if I know more now or just PR but both were interesting. I may be naive but I find it difficult to believe Palin would join a camping trip. Rather than get upset either way, I think I'll just wait and see what transpires. So much of what US mag printed in the last year had little validity; a lot seemed aimed at just stirring up controversy. I think I'd rather think about what a fascinating trip the G kids are getting: one of the last wildernesses, glaciers, a countryside vastly different from their native PA. My parents travelled the country with us as kids. It was so great to study a state in school and pull out the family albums to look at the photos. How great that the G's get not only photos but video also. We share some with them but certainly not all. What a contrast between the Everglades in onei month, New York the next, followed by Alaska. A summer of exploring and contrasts. Wow!

  52. Trouble sleeping tonight so I'm still blogging. Baby Mama, I know you've been harassed relentlessly by some trolls. Through it all, you've remained steadfastly a Gosselin supporter. You've been more than generous in allowing differences in opinions. You named it the Gosselin Family Fansite. If folks are not a fan of any of the Gosselins, their only reason for being here would be to cause controversy. I for one, applaud your position that you will not longer tolerate them. There is much that can be discussed and debated and even enjoyed while still holding firm against those whose only purpose is hate. You rock Baby Mama!

  53. Set in The Ceft~ You are my friend and could talk about whatever you like! Every once in a while I get someone that unfortunately makes me hop back on the sopabox. I'm already over it.

In New York it's all about Obama. I can't comment about Sarah because she has become a cartoon. We don't need to discuss why its so imprtant for this meeting to happen. She has her own show coming out on TLC and this is a great way for those even like myself to see her in a (hopefully) different light.

TLC was smart to keep quiet and see how this pans out. It could really help Sarah to be on with "Celebrity" Kate. It really may make her show a sucess while helping Kate Plus 8 as well.

LoriAnn~ thanks for the compliments. New Photo of the day is up.

Linda~ As always I appreciate your dedication to this site. I hope that I can still pass this baby on to you someday so I can retire over at CaftyMoms site lol.. boy would you clean house! ;)

  56. BM,

If you are serious about keeping the haters out, I will come back, on occassion.

I don't allow them on my site because all they want to do is spread more controversity about Kate. I like Kate and I support her and I'm not going to post on a site where I have to constantaly explain, justify and defend that.

I don't feel it necessary to present the 'other side' as there are more than ample sites for that. I was also accused when I opened my blog of not allowing the opposing view, yours isn't the only one who was expected to present both sides. Other sites have also been expected to.

I didn't open my site for debate, I opened my site to express my thoughts and support of Kate unconditionally. To say what I wanted to say.

Not everyone opened a pro Kate site simply becaue you had one, BM, or to be in any form of competition with you or to try to out do you or because they felt they could do better than you. You are who says others are in competitin with you. I for one don't feel that way. I think there is more than ample room for many pro Kate sites, each has their own flavor.

This is a problem which I've had regarding your site as you see all other Kate sites as this. They opened one for their own reasons without any connecttion or thought to your blog but you accuse them all of opening their site to try to out do you.

When I opened my site, I did look at the other pro Kate sites, yours included. Yours held no less nor more weight for me than any of the others.

The format of your blog is standard blogger format, it is standard pro Kate format. I made a point for mine to look different, which was and is still a lot of work beyond using the standard blogger format. Some choose to put the effort in to do that, some don't. That is their choice. Whether there were problems with previous posters in the past or not, doesn't concern me. I think all pro Kate sites should support each other.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Or at the very least, if not willing to support the other pro Kate sites, don't condemn, criticize or put them down.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ziggy I agree with you 100%. I am pro Kate and there are very few sites that are, they may claim to be or say they are open to various opinions, but once you post it BAM, the crap starts flying. I dont feel like the kids are being exploited, I feel they are Kates children and she should raise them as she sees fit. Now if there were abuse involved thats different, but there have been no signs of that. The haterz cant make us change our minds and we know we cant change theirs, so we all just need to accept that and agree to just disagree. JMO

  59. Linda that must have been my post, but I guess I just didnt realize I had posted it here. You know the older you get the more you forget. LOL..Thanks for the warm welcome.

  60. ZiggyFlo~ So happy to see you back!

Thank you for the great post. Sometimes when I'm fustrated I let off, not realizing that my thoughts are best kept to myself even though it's my blog. I have akeady in the past gone through my fustration and don't need to repeat it. Just that I support everyone that's out there fighting for the sane cause, ESP. You & KatherineDenise. From now on I will stress that more. We gave spoken and you know I try to make the effort to work out any sadness or lack of appreciation on anyones end. That I get snarky myself sometimes? Well I am working on that too. ;)

I tried to stay positive among debate sites, but you seriously cannot go there without being attacked since they are not Kate fans. So they make fun of everything this site stands for, so I can't participate. Sadly when I tried it here, it didn't work either! Fans like you get upset and leave. And I feel terrible! BOTTOM LINE? There is no real debate sites! Not even here. So if you find a real one let me know. Until then I stand a fan site! And will learn to get sling better with everyone on my team & TRY not to act like Queen Bee! YAY! Onward & upword! Xoxo

  61. Ziggy, I think what Baby Mama was referring to are those who copy her blog word for word and do no citation. That is a bit frustrating. IMO it comes from lack of knowledge. The traffic here has been great and continues that way. I took her second point was about people who posted and then stopped posting from fear of being raked over the coals by those who are non fans. She has continued the "fight" for more than two years against a very small but very rabid group of haters who are unable to distinguish between a difference of stance on one issue and have carried into an attack against her husband and children. That is just plain wrong. She made some innocent mistakes 3-4 years ago using her real name; from that things done were unconscionable. We know that basic safety says to use a screenname. That wasn't the case on the net when it started. Much of my work with clients is via the net, so getting my name was pretty easy, even if they chose to combine fact and fiction. If people don't use their real names, it is safe.

  63. ***I feel they are Kates children and she should raise them as she sees fit. Now if there were abuse involved thats different, but there have been no signs of that. The haterz cant make us change our minds and we know we cant change theirs, so we all just need to accept that and agree to just disagree. JMO***

Hi Shortnsaszy. Nicely put. I think the controversy arises out of photos of the kids looking "miserable". If someone were to take candid pics of my kids while on vacation chances are they would just have neutral expressions on their faces. I mean if you walked around with a smile all day long people would think you were crazy. I still share the opinion that the G kids are fine & happy for the most part. If there is indeed any form of abuse going on it will come out in due course.

  64. ACK! I meant the SAME cause! Damn this Iphone keeps changing my words!! Although I just realized that it is a SANE cause as well!

And the crazies have done a whole post about my comment I made about this being a huge COUP for Alaska. My phone wrote COO. This is what they have left to attack. Not Kate anymore, but my IPHONE changing my words! So score one for us! The SANE ones! Crazy haters get ZERO!

  65. Baby Mama, I know it's been frustrating lately from some behind the scenes drama. I am not, I repeat not, campaigning or entertaining running your blog. As I have said many times, it is your blog and you make the decisions! That said, IMO the name of your blog "Fan Site" as well as the "Kate+8" logo says a lot. I don't feel this is the forum to bash Kate. I have long campaigned against stereotypes for women and glass ceilings. I support SAHMs as an honorable career just as honorable as doctor, etc. IMO it is sad when women bash other women for the way they dress, etc. Men support other men in their success. Their bashing is for lack of ambition, irrational judgments, not following through, etc. You'd never hear them say "Did you see George's yellow short sleeved shirt with that suit!" IMO women who do that are very insecure or somehow feel threatened by somebody who was like them and has succeeded at something. Instead of congratulating the success, they denigrate it. I find that sad. I see the G kids and their summer travels and think "How marvelous that they got the chance to experience first hand such diverse parts of our nation!" I could even see a spin off show "The Gosselin kids explore the USA." Many women unfortunately feel threatened by strong women. It is a shame.

  66. Baby Mama, I'm hoping you'll feel refreshed soon and ready to lead the way right on through the 3rd year. And you are right. I would have no patience for non Fans blogging at a Fan site. There are already sites for them. So it is a very good thing you are at the helm and not me! :) It is your blog and this is where you belong!

  67. Well I have been trying to find this article where they slam Kate because the kids look unhappy in the photos. If someone finds it let me know. I was really pissed because A. They could have been hungry or tired. B. They could have been sick of these idiots snapping photos of them every sec. C. They are children

Why do people analyze so much from a second of time. What if they were happy 2 seconds later? And nonbody better not give me that crap about the kids wanting life away from cameras. Life away from nosy paps perhaps. But that doesn't mean they don't enjoy filming..Makes me so mad! :)

  70. OT - I've done something really stupid. I post it here to perhaps spare others. (I'm sure it will give haters a chuckle and that's fine also.) with the back surgery I was given this wonderful "reacher" tool so I could grab things without bending which is a no no. Hubby got a lightweight laptop since old one was over weight limit for lifting. I thought I'd gotten email viruses. Maybe. I think the real culprit is that darn reacher tool. I never realized until this morning that there is a magnet at the tip of the reacher tool. I've known for 20 years that magnets and computers do not mix. Lifting the laptop with the magnet reacher tool was a huge error. Who knew? Hubby had fixed it again and brought computer to me. I started to lift it with reacher and my son is screaming "No Mom!!! No!!!" I thought it was a snake or something. I never knew about the magnet. So my lesson is that keep magnets away from computers!

  71. Another lovely Alaska photo! Thanks for sharing, Baby Mama!

  72. Linda--about the magnet--at work I put one of those little calendars with a magnet on the back on my CPU--and I knew better--working in systems.
Thank goodness there was no harm done (that I know of). OOOPS!

  73. Lololol. Magnets. My kids have put magnets on 2 of our TVs. It took a few months but the green discoloration slowly disappears. They know magnets are off limits near the computer though.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday! The weather is beautiful in my neck of the woods.

  75. Any more news on what's happening in Alaska? I can close my eyes and pretend I'm inhaling cool, fresh, woodsy air with a hint of evergreens. Magnets..I did not know they should not be near T.V.s or Computers! Thanks, and my husband thinks Gosselin blogging is a waste of time!
Linda, it frustrates the heck out of me when women trash other women & moms on moms!

I still do not understand why if someone does not like the show they still watch, just to critique Kate! I really do not get why they follow her on the net or in the mags etc. either. When I don't like someone be it a celeb or a real person, I usually try to avoid them.(Sometimes IRL that is not possible of course, but I do try)

  77. Momsby ITA with you! If it is somebody I don't care for, don't agree with, etc., then I flip the channel! To make me watch them would not be pleasure and life is far too short to waste it doing or watching something I don't like.

  78. Good evening everyone! Holy smoke about the magnets I had no idea! My kids are always playing with things on thew diding room table where Im on my laptop. I don't go on the big family computer anymore after my computer crashed last year. It could have been baecause of that! So you have probably helped alot of us!

Welcome back Corrina & Momsby! LoriAnn thank you for telling about famecrawler. Tell me that kids getting OFF a bus is a problem. Could they have neen in the bus too long and they are tired? Could they be sad that their mom isnt there? AND EXCUSE ME..Is Kate NOT allowed to take a few seconds away to deal with issues? this article really pissed me off!

"Kate Gosselin MIA in Alaska; Kids Go Sightseeing With Staff

Kate Gosselin haters are going to love this one. Apparently over the last two days the Gosselin kids have been sight seeing with a bodyguard and TLC crew member, with no sightings of Kate and main bodyguard Steve Neild. The kids meanwhile look fairly miserable. While getting off the bus at the hotel, one of the kids was overheard asking, “Where’s mommy and when is she coming back?” Any guesses as to where she might be? A marathon tanning session perhaps? I recently defended Kate for having some perhaps well-deserved “me-time.” That doesn’t extend to going AWOL in Alaska."

    http://blogs.babble.com/famecrawler/2010/07/23/kate-gosselin-mia-in-alaska-kids-go-sightseeing-with-staff/

    ReplyDelete
  79. Interesting on the article. So with no idea what the problem might be, Kate is condemned? My first response was apparently there was some unknown issue that had to be dealt with. Rather than having kids cooped up in a hotel room, the kids are having a tour. It would appear that again an unknown source reports something that was supposedly overheard. Was it fantasy? Who knows! That could be plausible. I wonder if there could have been frustration at paparazzi? I think I'll wait to see what the issue is, or even if there was an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  80. But according to the haters, the kids can't stand being with Kate and are miserable when she's around. So why were the kids (allegedly) unhappy without her and asking when she's coming back? The haters can't have it both ways (although I'm sure they'll try).

    Linda, thanks for the welcome!

  83. Good morning. I have already mentioned that I was new to this site. New, here and unfamiliar elsewhere. I did not know what some of the references were about. I picked up that certain phrases (i.e. haterz) meant something but I didn't have the background. Due to Baby Mama's rules post, I found some of the other sites. Some are still an unknown. Wow! Opened up a whole other world of posting styles and opinions (and in some cases, rude posts!) I have a lot to "learn".

    ReplyDelete
  84. Mary Ann there are some sites that are rabid in expressing their hate for Kate. They feel compelled to hound those who are proKate, proJon, or proKids. That's pretty sad. We're glad you are here. :)

  85. Hey everyone! Long time no see!! Life has been crazy busy!

We just got back from our wonderful vacation! Discovery Cove was definitely amazing! While we were with one of the trainers - someone brought up Kate and the kids being there. After everyone left - I talked to the Trainer and a couple of other DC folks about her visit there. I was curious as to their opinion of her and how the day went. ABSOLUTELY every person used words such as wonderful, fun, appreciative, humble....to describe her. Most of them even added something along the lines of 'totally NOT how she is portrayed in the media'!!

We then did Disney. On our second day there - we had a terrible incident with a cast member - who was BEYOND rude to us. I won't go into the details but normally - especially on vacation - we take a 'no worries' approach to everything to keep in the laid back vacation frame of mind - but this was so bad we went to find a manager. It just so happened that the manager who was in the area of the park we were at was THE park manager. Well, let me tell you, he was not pleased with what had happened - and from that point on - we truly had a 'BELIEVE' (aka; dreams really do come true) Disney experience. They surprised our son EVERY DAY with something! Jake SWEARS they 'stalked' us because he couldn't figure out any other way they could have known all the things he'd said he'd like to do - or the things he said he'd like to have, etc. WE don't know how they did it either! However - it was like they were mind readers. For example - the last full day we were there - when we returned to our room that night - Jake's bed was FULL of (and I swear to this) of every item he had looked at while we were there and we had told him 'no, we're not buying that'! Bob and I just looked at each other in total shock - with no clue how they had pulled that one off. It was unbelievable but definitely a "Disney Magic'!!!

The cruise to the bahamas after our week at Disney was absolutely amazing at well. Definitely one of our best vacations!

Oh my - I've got to run right now - my employees surprised me with new stuff at the office - very thoughtful of them - and immediately let me know I had been missed! Time to hand out all the little goodies I brought back for them!

  90. Baby Mama I couldn't help but chuckle over the weekend. I watch cooking shows. I thought Giada de Laurentis and Kate were the same age. Turns out Giada is 7 or 8 years older, and the mother of a young child, Jade. There was Giada cooking away in a black deep vneck halter top a lot like Kate's blue/green one. She walked to the oven and had on Capri shorts/pants with pretty tall sandals with the Greek straps. I can't imagine cooking in heels 'cause I'm a klutz! But here was another mother, older than Kate, but dressed very similar. I guess she thought it was appropriate Mom wear. I've always thought Giada was pretty classy. Maybe it's a California thing that Kate picked up with DWTS? I also noticed on Today Show women in shorts and what looked like heels. I'd never shop the streets in NY like that but I'm more conservative, and again, I'm at Klutz! Maybe they were all tourists. When I worked in NY I wore flats or tennis shoes until I got to office and switched to heels. (But that was in the dark ages, lol.)

  91. Do you mean it BabyMama about trying to discourage the haters from posting on your site? I was so overwhelmed by the hatred right after I first started posting I wasn't going to post here any longer because it just seemed there was a few what I call not just haters but people who loved to bait. I figured they saw a newbie who they thought they could harrass and although I got wonderful support from many of your other posters but it got to the point of being downright ridiculous to go on and on about Kate's body which I still feel she is in great shape and whether she has had something done or not I feel it's her business and only her business and for people to actually study and compare photos past and present was taking their opinions to an insane level. They seem to blast anything and everything Kate says, wears or does. I don't mind a little disagreement but that became downright silly, stupid and boring. None of that has to do with child welfare and I feel it's not even about child abuse but strictly about hating a woman they don't personally know and judging a mother who is only doing her best for her own children and it's nobody's business as long as the children are healthy, happy and getting a good education. I think it's more about hating on Kate because she is a beautiful woman and even more hating those that support Kate as a working mother than anything to do with child welfare. When the fact is it seems that the only mother with a reality TV show they target is Kate Gosselin then it stopped being about children and filming a long time ago. The filming isn't hurting the children not even the slightest compared to what the hate blogs are doing to that family. I really like your other posters here but that few really turned me off from posting.

  92. Hi Linda O. I’m a fan of Giada & I love her recipes. She’s not as old as you think though – she’s 39 (but could pass for much younger IMO). I always thought she overdressed for a cooking show – scantily at times – but she’s from a Hollywood family so it could be a California thing as you say. Plus, at the end of her show she sits down with some guests and they eat the food so maybe she dresses with entertaining in mind.

Don’t forget, Kate’s claim to fame is being a mother – Giada’s is not. Sadly Kate will always be scrutinized for her wardrobe (unless she ends up working without her kids and the public slowly begins to mentally disassociate Kate from the kids. It could happen, and all the more power to her, but for now she is MOM.

Me? When it comes to shopping these days I’m a capris and flip-flops kind of a gal. Having said that, I was a bit more fashionable when I was single. It’s all relative!

I hope everyone is having a nice Monday :)

  93. Lexxi - we'd already done two rounds of boobygate before you came. Baby Mama even had a vote on opinions. I kind if lost it at the idea of doing it a third time. More been there, done that, everybody has their opinions and do we have to debate this again, lol. I, for one am glad you are posting here now. (I even suggested to Baby Mama that she add a subtitle or index to her listings of previous posts so we could just say, hi, please refer to June 1 or whatever, lol)

    ReplyDelete
  94. Thank you Linda. I figured you had all been through all that before and it was probably a worn out subject. I do find it sad though that someone like Lori can't find it in her heart to celebrate that fact that Kate is a mom. How many centuries did we go where being a mother and staying at home with her children were looked down upon? As for me I'm proud to support just a mom as I feel it's one of the most important jobs that a woman can do. When my husband and I met and decided to have children he had one request and that I be a stay at home mom and that's something that I'm proud o.f Any mom whether she stays home or is a working mom is to be celebrated for being just a mom. So what if it brought her celebrity status? After all it's her fans and yes even her haters that have made her the most celebrated mom in the U.S. More power to her and I do believe that Kate is working towards the day where she has a career without her children because we all know it can't go on forever. For now the children are getting a wonderful education and having lots of fun traveling to places that many can only dream of.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Lori Anne, actually I thought Giada was younger than she is, thinking she was as young as Kate. That's why I mentioned she was older. I think Moms come in all sizes, ages, styles, etc. Kate in her younger days was pretty stylish even though Jon once referred to her on the show once as his "country bumpkin." After the sextuplets she lived in sweats for a while. I can identify with that; it's survival mode where you just exist from one day to next. Then kids get older, not as fragile preemies, and you can be a person again! Still a Mom, but reclaiming your personhood. Jon helped her with fashion some, and she grew like a butterfly. Then the divorce. Ugh. I can identify there too. Regardless of why, you question everything you do. She has chosen to get fit and blossom. Right or poor choice, most of the early 30 moms in my neighborhood dress pretty much like Kate. Some wear heels with everything. (Not me, I'm a total klutz and I'd break my neck!) Her identity is being redefined as divorced mother and primary caregiver. She's in her early 30s, not old like me, lol. Goodness, even the Hollywood types with stylists get raked over the coals for fashion mishaps. You have to try styles to know if they work. Kate should dress however it makes her feel good. It's for sure, no matter what she wears, it will be considered wrong by many. She isn't spending money on 5th Avenue but at mostly Anne Tayylor and DSW shoes. We've all seen a lot of Target shopping also. Lol, if there's anybody out there who has no "mistake" clothes, then more power to you!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Thank goodness I don't get photographed everytime I rush out! Oh vey! Forgot to say she got criticized forbearing the same white shorts too often and also for not repeating outfits. Doesn't matter what - she gets criticized.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yeah Linda that makes me laugh too. In one rag I will read how awful she is for wearing different outfits every day and in the next rip her apart for wearing the same outfits twice. Happens a lot in those rags.

My favorite so far lately is how in InTouch they used a picture from a pap that was taken when they were filming the chicken episode where it's clearly the part where she is pointing out the pap that was taking their picture and the caption read that she was yelling at Steve and the landscaper. So funny how twisted that was. (for the record, my mom buys those rags, not me anymore. But I still read them out of curiosity! LOL I figure the damage is already done when my mom buys them...LOL)

  98. Oh and Hope....great story thanks for sharing.

Lexxi hang around you won't, regret it. Very cool group here.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Um, Lexxi, is the “Lori” you refer to in your above post me? What makes you think I can’t find it in my heart to celebrate the fact that Kate is a mom? I’m a mom myself. Moms make the world go around. I’m happy for Kate that she became the mom she always wanted to be. I think you misread my post to Linda on the subject of Giana De Laurentiis. Linda had implied that a woman of a certain age – who is also a mom – is not judged as harshly as Kate and I simply tried to explain why that might be. Right now Kate is perceived as a mom by the public. Heck, she’s being marketed as such. This is a conversation board, right?

I just re-read my own post and I don’t think I could have written it any clearer. In fact, Lexxi, your paragraph **More power to her and I do believe that Kate is working towards the day where she has a career without her children because we all know it can't go on forever.** is very similar to something I wrote, and yet you are celebrating motherhood and I am not? If anyone wonders where I am in the next little while I’ll be off scratching my head!

Disclaimer: If I’m not the Lori you were referring to then I apologize for being defensive.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Lori and Lexxi - I think I wasn't very clear and guilty for misunderstanding. My point was that Giada who is younger than Kate, dresses a lot the same way as Kate. Also that Giada has done a number of "motherhood" ie non cooking things lately. Finely, that moms come in many styles. Most of us are most comfortable with styles those in our own area wear ( or conversely we hate the styles, lol) I think Kate was too Granny on DWTS for some, and dressing too young now for some. She isn't 20 something anymore, but she's still young to me. Especially lately when I feel like I'm just dragging my rear along. So ladies, just blame it on me for explaining poorly.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Lori if I took it wrong I sincerely apologize. I haven't read where you said the same thing about more power to Kate but whenever you said that it looks like we may think alike in that area as I feel Kate is giving more attention to mothers and the work and value they do. And yes I do think Kate is looking to the future and wants a career and one day soon sadly in a way we won't be seeing those sweet little faces and the adorable things they say. I have a two year old grandson I talked to on the phone last night and even my so said he never and he said never talks to anyone as long as he does when I'm on the phone with him but that little sweetheart had me laughing from the moment he said hello to when he said goodbye. His older sister is the same way and will talk to me forever and daddy always has to break it off or his phone bill will go into the bankruptcy stage. LOL I've got to get my Skype going again so we can see and talk to each other without the limits of time. In fact my granddaughter ordered me to get it going because she has all kinds of things she wants to show me. Isn't technology wonderful? Being a grandma is the greatest. Again I do apologize if I took it wrong and I don't have a problem admitting if I have made a mistake.

  102. Crafty Mom I'm just loving your blogs. Do you have one on scrapping? I'm not finding that. Usually my blogging is limited to just here because I'm waiting stopped in some car line and this is home! But, pre and post surgery I'm less mobile (and stuck sitting which don't do well) so I've checked out all the blogs you have, or I've tried anyway. I need a page design for an album on swimming awards and ribbons. Not finding much. Sorry for being OT again, Baby Mama.

  103. That is the one blog I don't have! Thanks! LOL I used to be a hard core scrapper but since I moved from RI and away from my CM lady I have strayed away from it. I do like it I just haven't had the time since my little one was born. I have been kicking around the idea of having guest posters on my blog to write about scrapping and knitting which are the two things I am out of the loop. I will look and see if I can find a layout for you.

  104. Lexxi, I am a SAHM and I didn't take Lorianne's comment as not celebrating a mom being a mom. I thought she was simply saying that some don't think she dresses as s mom should dress. Each has their own perspective on what that is. I think she was respectful in her post otherwise Baby Mama wouldn't have allowed it.

Personally, I would never wear the heel and shorts outfits but that's just me. If Kate or anyone else likes it then good for them. We all have our own personal style and should dress in a way that works best for each of us.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hi Lexxi, yes, my quote was “Sadly Kate will always be scrutinized for her wardrobe unless she ends up working without her kids and the public slowly begins to mentally disassociate Kate from the kids. It could happen, and all the more power to her, but for now she is MOM.”

You seem like a nice lady and I don't want to fight with you, lol. But you know that childhood game "Broken Telephone"? I was afraid the rest of the posters would take your interpretation of what I'd said instead of what I'd actually said. Oh, gosh, I'm getting dizzy!

    Have a great evening Lexxi!

  106. All is ok Lori Anne and hopefully it's all said and done. In our last neighborhood we had a stay at home mom that wouldn't even walk out the front door to get her newspaper unless she was all made up, nice and I mean real nice fashionable clothes on, heels, jewelry and it all. She dressed this way every day. I asked her once why she felt the need to be so dressed up and she explained that where she grew up in Israel women couldn't be women and now that she was a US citizen she delighted in looking and celebrating being a woman. Sometimes we don't realize how as women we are so lucky to live in this country and it takes a reminder once in awhile that other's don't have it as well as we do.

  107. I am very sad to say that if Sarah Palin is in an episode of "Kate Plus 8" I will NOT tune in!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. So Linda your kids swim? Been there and done that. My son swam competitively and was in the top in the U.S swimming in several of the swimming strokes since he was very little. Oh I used to get so upset with my son because he would get his ribbons and immediately turn around and throw them in the garbage can. When I asked him why he said they are just pieces of cloth mom and I know how I did and that's all that matters.

Now when it came to his football career thank heavens he appreciated all the pictures and articles from that and when I moved not too long ago he took the scrapbook I had started but never finished but everything was still loose in the book and he asked if he could take it and finish it himself. What a surprise that was to find out that it meant that much to him and he appreciated what I had done so far for him. He's an adult now so to think that scrapbook meant that much touched my heart. So Linda know that one day those scrapbooks may mean the world to your children as I was honored to find out. Linda there is some great software that could also build the templets you need for your scrapbook. Since I'm kind of a computer nerd I love to do crafts by using the computer. By hand, not so much.

  109. my2girls, I'm just still wondering if the whole Sarah Palin thing was just another rumor. It sure wouldn't be the first rumor to spread like wildfire or a small maybe cameo that has turned into something bigger than it really was. I personally don't get into the political arena of things as it has always gotten too volatile in my family so politics is something I just stay out of.

Right on with that comment!! I just wish that the same people who bash Palin could look at her in the same light that they do Kate. (But I already talked about that soo...)

One thing that I have admired about Kate is that she DOES wear the same outfits again and again! Like that green summer dress that was really cute. That, in my opinion, makes her look less pretentious.

I have no idea what I would do if I had the money to dress anyway I wanted, or anywhere I wanted. I'd probably have my daughter style me :) It's her forte! She's actually getting ready to open her own boutique so I may now have a good reason to buy expensive clothes!

I sure hope your daughter gives you a nice big mom discount. I'm so jealous. You're going to have so much fun shopping at your daughter's boutique. Just watch the old pocketbook because you may be tempted as any mom would and want to help your daughter's sales and then the double whammy of wanting beautiful new stylish clothes? What fun you're going to have.
Mmmmmmmmmm homemade peanut butter. Wow you are ambitious. Sounds delicious.

  112. Our family pretty much steers clear of politics too--I'm neutral on Sarah Palin.

Crafty Mom--Scrapping and knitting--two of my favorite things plus quilting.

  113. Lexxi - Aw, darn - I'm going to disappoint you :) It's a smoothie - bananas, peanut butter, milk and ice... yummy!

I hope she does give me a discount! But then, I know me, I'll insist that she doesn't because I want her to make it big!! Here's a link to the blog: http://blog.rikidesign.com/ if you want to check it out. The original owner of the store is letting my daughter buy her out at the store in Berkeley. She's only 23! Yay!!

  114. Hello everyone.. Good evening!
I decdied to put a new post up. It's one that we have been discussing here for a long time. I was tired of seeing 500 "Sarah Palin Goes Camping With Kate" aticles. I hope this gets another good debate started!

Tonight's fresh paper is in honor of Alaska though. It's the yummy smell of the butter dripping over the King Crab I had for dinner last night, along with the yummy buttered rolls we had! I still can't get the amazing meal out of my mind!
