Karina Wants To Teach Kate, One Year Since The Jon & Kate Turmoil, The Gosselin Kids Hit Orlando!

Karina Smirnoff: I'd Love to Teach Kate Gosselin to Dance: USMagazine.com: Kate Gosselin isn't the easiest person to teach how to dance (her DWTS partner Tony Dolovani even quit on her once). But Karina Smirnoff tells UsMagazine.com she wouldn't mind instructing her.
"I think Kate is very real -- I love that about her!" she told Us Thursday at the WILDFOX Fall 2010 Collection celebration at NYC's 1OAK. "I respect the fact that she says what she thinks. I think a lot of people in the entertainment industry play the part instead of being who they really are. I think Kate did not play into that -- she remained herself. She's a mom, she's a business woman, and I respect that a lot. Maybe she wasn't the best dancer on Dancing With the Stars, but she tried her best and she was fun to watch. She did everything she could. Obviously, Dancing With the Stars is very demanding because of the schedule and you have such a limited amount of time to learn everything.

Smirnoff's tip for the mom-of-eight, 35? "If she wants to continue dancing she should continue to dance with her feelings and emotions," she told Us. "She is a very deep woman, and she has a lot of emotional education in her so let that come out in the dance moves." The reality mom is returning to the dance floor for the season finale on May 24 and 25.

Kate Gosselin, kids spotted in Orlando for "Kate + 8": OrlandoSentinal.com

If you thought you saw Kate Gosselin around Central Florida this week, you weren't hallucinating. Gosselin and her eight children were in Orlando -- think theme parks -- to shoot the first "Kate + 8″ special, which will debut at 9 p.m. June 6 on TLC. That program shouldn't be confused with her new series, "Twist of Kate." Or with her recent stint on ABC's " Dancing With the Stars," which concludes its season May 25. Gosselin and all the other ejected competitors are scheduled to return for the finale

Jon & Kate Explosion One Year Later: TheMorningCall.com

It's been a exactly a year since reports of an alleged affair by Jon Gosselin sent the couple on a path that would lead ultimately to divorce. A year ago, Us magazine reported the Berks County dad was seeing teacher Deanna Hummel, who he says was just a friend. Since then the couple announced their separation on the most watched ever episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," and Jon sued to halt filming of the show without him. The show unable to film new episodes with the kids without Jon's consent, eventually ran out of footage and folded in November. Jon and Kate's divorce became final at the end of the year and Kate proceeded on a whirlwind of TV appearance including on "Dancing With the Stars."

Meanwhile Jon squired a sting of 20-somethings - Hailey Glassman, Morgan Christie, and now Ellen Ross, sued Kate for custody and moved back to an apartment in Reading. Now, Jon and Kate heading down entirely separate paths. Kate is currently filming "Kate Plus 8" (which is scheduled to begin airing June 6) and "Twist of Kate" two new shows for TLC, while Jon continues to make headlines for not really doing anything. He recently worked as a bartender for charity earlier this week, but otherwise hasn't been doing much.

  3. Thanks guys, Denise was making an interesting comment before I cut her off on the previous post and I want to address it.

I think that at first when your being filmed you are very aware of the samera. But I do know someone that was involved in the 1st Season of "The Real World" on MTV, I tell you this..Even with a Grip standing next to you, after a while you forgt that they are even there. I didn't get a chance to read the entire thread, but I just wanted to mention that.

  5. Nice fresh chocolate mocha paper ;)I don't like how on that E news clip they twisted what Kate said to mean she can't handle being with her kids when she was just venting as all moms do, but then again that's what happens to anything anybody says or writes any more. I am soo happy for the kids being in Orlando. I hope they can enjoy a longer vacation in the summer. I am getting excited to see the finale of DWTS. Since Kate left, I have been right on every person that went home.

  6. Hey all,
Can't stay and chat... Putting my girls to bed and then watching Survivor Finale... But I'd love to be there the first time Kate tells Karina she doesn't know how to teach her to dance. ;)

Maybe she would, maybe she wouldn't. But I'd love to be there the first time SG ever felt like Kate did something right! ;)

  8. I think I have commented on some things I may have agreed with that she said or did. I can't for the life of me remember what they were right now though.

  9. SchmeckyGirl - lol, I can't remember any that you agreed with either. ;) If it happens in my lifetime, I'm going to put it in red on my calendar.

  10. I remember Schmeckygirl agreeing with Kate on a couple of things, but I don't remember what they are. I might go back and look. One of them wasn't even that long ago. LOL

  18. Good Morning Everyone,

I have to admit, I have DVR'd all the episodes of DWTS but haven't watched any since Kate left. It just doesn't have the same draw. I will definitely tune in to the finale though!

One bone I have to pick though is that everytime there is an article about Kate on the show and how she was so difficult etc., they ALWAYS stick right in the next line that her partner even quit on her once. That just annoys me to no end because half the dancers' partners stormed out or said they were done or argued or whatever. Heck, some of the stars even had fits and stormed off. How many minutes later did Tony return and they made up. It's just dumb that they have chosen that one scene and keep saying it over and over just because it was Kate and everyone was expecting drama from Kate. I don't doubt that she was preoccupied and probably couldn't focus well a lot of the time and I don't doubt that Tony got frustrated with her and that they had words but I believe it was the same deal with all the celebrities. No one ever points that out though. All you hear about Kate and DWTS is what a horror she was and that even her dance partner quit on her once. As if he quit and they had to get the bigwigs in to force him back or something. Sheesh!

Ok, now that I have gotten that off my chest, I have to say I am really looking forward to the new shows starting soon. I wonder if the specials with the kids will end up drawing enough viewers to make it a more permanent thing again. It will be interesting to see. I bet the kids look so much older too. I remember even seeing a photo a while back and thinking how much they had grown in the short time they were off tv.

Regarding Karina, that is cool that she had such nice and supportive things to say about Kate. Maybe they should have Karina work with her and see if she can't get Kate to come out of her shell more. The only thing is that it would be awkward to do the performances with two girls and I don't think it would work to have Karina train her but then her dance with another partner, unless she trained the two of them together. Just thinking out loud. lol

Oh, and yes, when I looked at the cartoon pic above, I did think they were a bunch of birds perched around Kate's shoulder. haha

  19. Thanks for the link to Kate's blog. I have had trouble seeing it. Seems like I can only get old stuff. Maybe I need to delete from my "favorites" and go there directly.

Can't wait to see Kate's new shows. And on ET! She has sure turned into a huge success. I am so happy for her.

  22. I can't believe that Jon is onto yet another woman. (Then again, maybe I'm can!!) I'm curious to see what she looks like under that helmet... do we have pictures yet? I'll give this one a few months, LOL!

I think it was Tashapork that mentioned it above, but I was thinking the exact same thing about the E News video. They definitely made it seem like Kate was complaining about being with her kids... which I'm almost positive she was not. "Her cry for help"?! I'm pretty sure she was just doing a little bit o' venting. And who doesn't? Sorry to rant.. just caught my attention.

I loved her new post on TLC... very cute! Shel Silverstein is a clever guy! Love his poems! :)

    Hope everyone enjoys their afternoon!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Luckyyy they are in florida when are they back ?? Bet they are having a blast! Thanks 4 the new page baby mama:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, I adored Shel Silverstein as a child, I had a teacher in third grade who loved his poems and passed that love on to the class. I am glad Kate is passing that love on to her kids.

  25. Books are wonderful. Books shared between parent and child create such wonderful memories. It's so special to see your child(ren) enjoying books that you loved at that same age. We still do Encyclopedia Brown books aloud on trips seeing who can guess the logic and solution first. Don't you just love to share books. They make you laugh, cry, smile, care, take you to far away places and just over the next hill. Each of my children were so proud when they were able to get their first library card. I'm nostalgic here as I'm ordering books for the summer reading lists.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for the contest, Baby Mama!

    Thanks also for the surveys.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Its been a bit of a yawn fest for me at this point. Kate will be on next week and I'm sure the rating will soar. And as much as I make fun of The Jersey Housewives, I will prob. be watching that hot mess tonight as well. I'm rooting for Nicole at this point. Shes obviously going to win.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'll probably watch DWTS this week and next just because there is nothing better on, but I already know thw winner so (or at least think I do). I wonder if Kate watches or who she'd like to see win

    ReplyDelete
  29. I watch DWTS still. I DVR it and watch it after it starts because it starts after my girls' bedtime. I think Ochocinco goes home next. No spoilers please! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Linda,
    I just remembered...
I agreed with Kate doing DWTS. I thought it was good money for a few weeks' work.
I agreed that she should do whatever she wants when she doesn't have custody. I even argued about it with people that complained she was away from her kids.
I supported her practicing when the kids were asleep or at school... But I was against her practicing when they were home and awake.
I later felt she needed to stop DWTS because it seemed too much for her physically. I didn't think she could keep up the schedule and not be too drained to be there for her kids. She had a new show coming out so it's not like DWTS was her only option to support her family. I think she made the most money in DWTS the first few weeks anyway. And she sucked. ;).
So there's one time I supported Kate until I felt I no longer could....

    ReplyDelete
  31. uhh hello Tashapork..did you check to see if you were one of the winners of our contest?? e-mail me woman!

  32. Nachocinco (spelled wrong & I'm keeping it) promised Cheryl that if he makes it to the finals he would buy her a car.. so she must be begging people to vote for him!

  33. OMGoodness SchmeckyGirl. I'm dashing off right this minute to get out my calendar, look up first night of DWTS and mark it with a big old red SG just to make note. TY for telling me.

  34. Lol, Baby Mama, just call him Chad.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I saw that too! Was that old or is she there tonight? Donny Osmond made sure he was in a few shots too. What a ham..Chad bought that girl a ring and a necklace too did he not? It was odd when he bragged about it and he has 4 young kids in the audience no?

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOL Linda!

Congrats to all the PeaceLoveWorld contest winners.

I didn't enter the contest because I'm boycotting PLW until I know they pay the Gosselin kids MONEY for being their little billboards. ;). But Peace and Love for all the World regardless!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Baby Mama,
Did you announce the winners in this thread too? I didn't notice.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lol SchmeckyGirl. How do you know they aren't being paid? They wore them around town and if the blasted paps hadn't made pix then ??? I think the paps owe them money! Hmmm since Jodi and Kevin's kids were on camera and the Kreiders got paid, how much of the money they made went into trust funds or savings accounts for the Kreider kids. Maybe another topic for Murtz to ask. Oh well. Another day. Gnight all. Busy day tomorrow. Dancing was good SG, enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. No I should have though shouldn't I? I stated on my other post that my commenters here on this site are like family. To choose from 5 was like picking from my kids. So my daughter picked random from a hat.. Congrats to Jessica, Brooke, Linda, #1Caregiver & Tashapork! I still need to hear from Tashapork & Brooke please! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Linda,
I don't know that they aren't being paid by PLW. I do know they wore them during the filming of Kate Plus 8 so I'm guessing it's product placement and they got paid in t-shirts and hoodies. So if I can find out they were paid money I would buy the shirts. They are cute.

As for Kevin and Jodi's kids... They should have been paid by TLC... Just like the Gosselin kids should have. Although they were filmed more "in passing" so not as much... Unless they had a bigger part, which they didn't. JMO.

  41. Baby mama I just sent you the first email from my new phone, well actually two e mails because I guess my hand was on the send button and I wasn't yet finished but the second one has all of the info. I never in my wildest dreams expected to win. It is soo cool that I can be doing this while my Qwest Internet is acting up. It is a novelty for me and I love it.

  42. Kate was in the DWTS audience tonight next to Jake and she gave Evan a big hug after his dance. His entire family was there and he hugged Kate and then another in the next row.

I agree about ET--I also saw it tonight and Kate is going to be on tomorrow night reporting on DWTS. I wonder if she's spending the week in CA to prepare--Shannen has also been tweeting about camera blocking.

  43. Ok, so check this out..Kate will be the new Entertainment Tonight Reporter? Sort of...

Kate Gosselin Lands Another TV Hosting Gig: "Kate Gosselin got the boot from Dancing With the Stars last month -- but she's returning to the hit dance show. 44. Jon, Jon, Jon, everytime I try to pull for this guy he does something immature like this and the facebook post. Keep shaking my head.

On the sad note singer DIO passed away. Wonder if that group and Blue Oyster Cult is still touring.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Michelle - What did Jon do? How do you find him on Facebook? I am on facebook but never hardly go on, because I haven't learned how to do that yet! LOL!

If you mean his motorcycle ride as being immature, I don't think its immature. Lots of grown ups ride through their senior years. Its considered a hobby sport, mode of transportation, and fun. Been there, done that!

    ReplyDelete
  46. SG - JMO also that it isn't the exact amount a child actor is paid that determines "when" a parent has to begin paying into a trust account. If the Gosselins should have been required to pay into a trust account for any money they received that included their children, the Kreiders admitted on ROL that they were paid by TLC for episodes filmed at their house - and their kids were on too - then they should also have been required to put money into trusts for the Kreider children. Don't you think what's fair for one should be fair for all? At that time, Jon and Kate were being paid ($3,300 an episode or $3,500 per episode - let's just call it $3,000+). That's what the Gosselins made per episode then. (They got more later.) It just seems to me that if one family should be required to pay, all families should be required to pay.

I 100% support all child actors having money put in trust.

    ReplyDelete
  47. #1 caregiver-I really tried to give him the benefit of a doubt BUT, with him constantly chasing after young women, doing drugs, smoking in public(not that serious, except for his health), going to bar after bar, immature statements on facebook in regards to his newest young girlfriend(where his oldest kids can see, and friends bamking fun of it), publicly calling Kate as abusing him(pretty sure two oldest knows), sleeping with a babysitter in his OWN home with kids being there, I could go on and on and I really TRIED to be on his corner, believe me, but seems impossible at the moment, JMO.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Linda, I agree completely with your statement. I'd like to see someone ask Jodie & Kevin that.
Another question I'd like to see asked of them is what brought about their epiphany about their feelings regarding filming after Kate supposing ly killed the chance for them to make money? As the two seemed to come on the heels of each other...

All the things Michelle mentioned did me in on Jon, but there's three which sent me over the edge with the hopes of no return for any support of him: Him calling for that interview for the sole purpose of being able to look into the camera and spew how much he hated Kate and he loved Hailey more than he ever loved Kate (what a wonderful thing for you kids to hear), talking about going to counseling and that his counselor said his maturity stopped at age 22 (or whatever exact age it was he mentioned) as if he'd been put in a box away from the entire world by himself for all those years, and his lying about not taking the money and trying to place the blame on Kate. No, I'm done with him forever.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Michelle & Ziggy - You are ranting about Jon just like the haters rant about Kate. All except the comments about Facebook, we have heard before and that is old news. I don't know whats on Facebook. Do we really know if he is on drugs? Yes, ROL said something a year ago, I think but can we believe it. Let It Be!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm less than thrilled with Jon, but I'll always have hope that he will have an revelation of insight and growth. One has to have hope or give up.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank You Linda - for the words of Wisdom! Me too!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Linda - You commented awhile back that you don't know of one divorced couple that attends their kids. B-days at the same time. Well here goes your first:
After all the fights were over it took us about 4 or 5 yrs. to be co-parenting at a good level. Then when are children were grown and had their own homes, they decided that it was easier to invite their Mom and Dad over for dinners at the same. So me being the big person that I am went along with it. Christmas Eve dinner, and more Last week we were at the show with my son for his B-day,AND HE WAS THERE TOO!
IT WENT OK, BUT THIS YEAR IT IS STARTING TO ANNOY ME, SO i WILL CHANGE THE PATTERN THIS YEAR. So, I guess my point is that it can be done and we did it for the sake of our kids.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Linda~ I totally agree with you!

    ReplyDelete
  54. They just showed Kate on Entertainment Tonight. Is it this week that she's a correspondent? I can't wait to see Joey Fatone tonight. He's my man ;)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Caregiver - I commend you. I guess there's a first for everything. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Regarding that article where they said the kids came home alone. Kate stayed in CA for her interviews for Entertainment Tonight. I knew I saw her last night when I was watching..she sat with Jake..

    ReplyDelete
  57. I didn't really see myself as ranting nor hashing old news. I was just stating what turned me off against Jon. Nor did I take it that Michelle was ranting either, just that she too was explaining what turned her off to Jon.

He may at some point get it, but I doubt it. I won't be holding my breath with hope. If he ever does, I'll be the first in line to commend him.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ZiggyFlo~ I really don't think Jon has any desire to do anything right now other than to date young girls and not work. Once his meal ticket was cut he should have done whatever he could to bring in income that was within his TLC contract. He did not. He's still just taking whatever drips and drabs are being handed to him to keep him quiet.

It makes me sad and one of the reasons I'm excited to shift this site back to Kate and the still very adorable kids.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Watching DWTS - I'm amazed at how long Evan's legs are and how graceful he is, lol. Hoping too that Erin makes it to the finals.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well Erin did make it, and thats great for her..Poor Cheryl will not be receiver her car from Extra Nachos. Ohh well, maybe he should save that $$$ for his kids lol. I happen to think Cheryl is an amazing dancer though, so it was a hard call.

Kate looked absolutely beautiful on Entertainment Tonight. I find it funny that she wont do the Insider because they paid Jon so much attention. The more the haters snark, the more great she looks and the more jobs she gets to provide for her family. So trolls keep going, its just more thing for her to laugh off.

Gosselin Garb we need you! I NEED the purple dress Kate wore today.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am so glad Erin made it to the finals on DWTS. I really thought Chad should have gone before Niesy Nash too.

Evan looks great and if everyone voted for him, he might beat out Nicole. Maybe????

    ReplyDelete
  62. Aww #1caregiver, I really don't think so. I really think Nicole has this one in the bag. I mean, it just seems like the only people that win anymore ARE the professionals. They are both worthy IMO.

EVERYONE...I want to publically thank Linda (original lol) for my new logo. I hope you all like it. I have been complaining for weeks now that I didn't have a logo since TLC hasn't created one yet for the new shows. Linda crafted me my own personal logo! Its the first for me in two years. What I love about it is that she made me two, one without Jon's name. That way if he pisses us off we can easily change it..lol

Kisses to Linda for helping me out!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love the new logo, looks great.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Baby Mama - I agree and I understand.
    Love the new header!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Baby Mama - Love the new heading, and I am glad you got 2 of them just in case! LOL! Linda, you did a great job and I know people will like! Change is a good thing at times.
DWTS - I am just hoping there were enough voters that don't think it's fair for Nicole to be competing, if they voted for Evan instead, it would tip the scales in his favor. I know it's probably too good to be true.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I will be glad DWTS and American Idol will be over soon. Never watched them before so much and will not again.
I wonder when we will see Kate in that new green sun dress?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ditto to ZiggoFlo and cargiver! Love the new header. LOL at Jon being chopped off. Sad though.

    Great job Linda!

I haven't had a chance to reply about Kevin and Jodi... and I can't today... I'm on my way out. Have a great day ladies.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Just to clear up the Jon/Facebook issue - here is the information.

    http://perezhilton.com/2010-04-28-jon-gosselin-has-love-for-his-new-girlfriend

Jon is who he is. All I will say about him right now is that he is not a man I personally would like to have to depend on.

Toddelers and Tiaras was on last night. Some of those mothers make Kate look like a saint.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Par - I go by nothing Perez Hilton says; absolutely nothing!
I agree Jon is who he is. I have hope that one day he will indeed "find" himself and become the man that I believe he has the potential to be in many areas: father, husband/companion, true to himself. I have to have hope.

JMO that Jon did go through an early mid-life crisis for whatever reasons. He, himself, said his goals changed. What those goals became or are, I have no idea. I do really think he knows yet either. I do hope that one day he figures it out.

JMO also that when a marriage of 10 years (or 5 or 25) ends, the adults need to give themselves time to grieve over the ending. They need time to emotionally heal and to become refocused. To rush into multiple relationships appears to be, in and of itself, a cry for help. Jon must find that help himself. To repeatedly seek fulfillment with women who are 10 years younger makes a statement about his own development, or lack thereof. To be 30 and seek companionship/love from someone who is 20, is seeking someone who is 1/3 of his own age younger, IMO. How sad.

If he can find/figure out himself, he has a chance at happiness. He has 8 children who need him as a Dad. While I have no desire to watch him on tv, I suppose there are those who would.

Also I agree, nicely done, Linda! It's always nice to have something fresh and new!

    ReplyDelete
  73. #1caregiver-I'm not "ranting" about Jon and his behaviors. Just stating the "facts". If two women, Hailey and Stephanie who don't know each stated that he was doing drugs, then I tend to believe what they are saying. I'm not throwing stones at him, hey I have done some of the same things. BUT he is over 30 years old with EIGHT children, all his OWN. It's not like he is a teenager at a high school. He is just ruining everything he HAS/HAD. I'm just disappointed with him, JMO.

  76. Hello everyone.. sorry to be MIA..My husbands friends are having drama. It's always hard when your husband is friends with guys that are still single and forget husbands have responsiblilites!

I hope Kate is on Entertainment Tonight again.. I wonder did any of you see it? I am still trying to find out where to get that beautiful purple dress she wore. Purple is my absolute fav. color..AI has been such a snooze fest I prob. wont even watch tonight.

Schmecky~ what conversation were you having about Jodi & Kevin? Did I miss it? The haters are trying to ruin the fact that Kate is popular again and in the news..Why all so "jealus"? lol

  77. OMG~ Why am I getting stupid e-mails about protests and idiot haters protesting? Seriously are you kidding me? What the heck is all this crap about and why are people giving Wormy Girl (spelled wrong for a reason) any more attention she needs or deserves? I don't get it. Unless people thrive making complete fools out of themselves.

Schmecky I hope that this wasn't what you were referring to.

  78. Baby Mama - I don't think they have anything better to do, such as volunteering as a guardian ad litem, volunteering to assist with reading in intercity schools or math or whatever, volunteering in a zillion other ways. If this is the best thing they've got to protest, it really is sad, sad, sad!!!
    ----
I think Schmecky was talking about a response to my feeling that the Kreiders such have put money in trust for their own 4 children who appeared in J&K+8 since the Kreiders were paid.

I actually think it's that ZZZeaolot Zirene,(spelled wrong for a reason) who is e-mailing everyone in the Gosselin Blog world. She's trying to become Kate's #1 pain in the butt, under the new title of Child Advocate of course;) But if you look at most of her post's(just go to ANY article or blog about Kate, you'll find that she's mostly just concerned with Kate's looks, clothes, relationship with other's Yada, Yada, Yada.......YAWN.

  81. Wow, dead as a door-nail tonight.. did everyone finally cave and watch American Idol? I didn't but I just checked and saw who won and zzzzz Missing my Big Mike!

I am sick and disgusted to hear that some crazy stalker lady was going to try to get a protest together in front of the Gosselin home. Who is actually allowing this crap? No less wanted to join in? Then I thought how awesome it would be to gets these psychos arrested. People are all talk and no action. But its still disturbing none the less at how crazy these people are!

  82. They are also starting an advertising boycott..although personally I prefer that over action taken at the home.

  83. Its a complete joke. It's almost laughable. It did nothing the last time but make the ratings skyrocket. Twist of Kate doesn't sound as intersting.. so lets thank the crazies for bringing more publicity to the show, and creating a buzz..It is truly sad that they have so little in their lives that these haters would focus on that..

  84. Do you ever notice that every time Kate gets some big gig or all these positive thing happen to her you always get one psycho trying to start some crap to get publicity on blogs. Who are these people and why wont they go away? Those idiots make fun of me for running afan site, but they are running a hate campaign for someone who gets too much given to them that they only wish they could get..sad

  85. BM: I watched Kate on ET both nights and I have to say she was really good at the interviews. It seems that when she's comfortable, she really comes across relaxed. I really hope the cast stays as close as they all keep claiming to be. It seems like they've all been through a life changing experience.

I have to say I am rooting for Evan--I think he's worked the hardest and is most improved. He has a huge fan base of teen girls and 20 somethings. They've been tweeting and on facebook saying that you can vote on multiple browsers with the same email address and one girl said she voted for him over 1,000 times on Monday. He may not be such a long shot after all...

I thought Kate was really good on ET. :) Can't wait to watch DWTS again when they are all back for the finale!

    ----------------------------------------------------

Yes, I do agree with you... to a degree. I'm not sure how to explain my position on this...

From what I recall Kevin and Jodi said they were not paid for their appearances on TLC because they weren't under contract, but were given $3000 (I think it was that much) to cover expenses, etc for filming in their home. They were supposedly going to get a contract but that never happened. Supposedly... I don't know for sure.

First let me say that to be honest I didn't think it was a big deal that the Gosselin kids weren't paid for the two specials they did in the beginning because at the time the family supposedly needed the money just to support themselves as a family. If the money is going towards supporting the family I was okay with that... but then again who really determines that? At what point does it change from supporting the family to indulging the parents' lifestyles? So I guess that's why there has to be set laws. Anyway... Once the Gosselin kids became the main focus and were the stars of the show it became a business and they were entitled to their fair share. FAIR share. They still aren't getting that. IMO.

Anyway, regarding Kevin and Jodi, I think it was different, to a degree. Their kids were barely shown. I only remember seeing the one older girl in passing and the baby when Mady was playing with him. If they continued on the show under contract or just became paid regulars for their non-regular appearances then YES, definitely, I do think that Kevin and Jodi should have been required to put a set percentage of the money aside for them in a trust. However, I really think TLC should pay the kids their own, separate salary.

If Kevin and Jodi did not put aside some money from the $3000 they were paid I would actually have no problem with that, just like I didn't with Jon and Kate with the first two specials. However, if Kevin and Jodi did get a contract and their children were going to appear as regulars or even have parts in the show then yes, of course, they should be paid their fair share too.

I guess my opinion was that at first it wasn't a black and white issue as to the funds being made and fairly distributed. Once it became apparant that the kids were "working" just like the parents were "working" it became clear that the children should also be paid.

Looking now at the success of the show and the income it generated for TLC, I think TLC should be forced to pay the Gosselin children for the past 5 seasons. They are only getting paid for their current filming (or since the Child Labor Dept made their ruling). That's just wrong in my opinion.

Bottom line is, right now, I don't think anyone put a set percentage away for any of the children, Gosselin or Kreider, from those past episodes.

I'm not even sure if I answered your question... lol.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I read about the protest. My understanding is it's a protest against TLC and child exploitation and is not going to be held near the Gosselin home but outside TLC headquarters. I think they are making it a general protest against all TLC shows that showcase children, including Kate Plus 8 and Toddlers and Tiaras, etc.

No one is protesting Twist of Kate, just Kate Plus 8. I don't see Twist of Kate being a hit. I don't think they will need a protest for that show to end. JMO.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The original plan for the protest was for the Gosselin home. Thank goodness the organizers changed their plan of attack. I guess they decided they might seem more credible if they protest all reality show's with kid's on TLC, at TLC.
If there is no boycott on TofK why is it being suggested that people do not watch Kate on E.T. or DWTS? Those do not involve the kid's? If people do not want to watch her fine..but it does seem like there is a Kate Gosselin boycott in the works JMO.

  93. Hi momsby!

You said... I actually think it's that ZZZeaolot Zirene,(spelled wrong for a reason) who is e-mailing everyone in the Gosselin Blog world. ---------------------------------------------------

I don't know all of Irene's posts because I don't go to most of the same blogs or sites she supposedly goes to but I see a handful of them on one blog I go to.

I really can't say what Irene's true intentions are regarding child advocacy vs. making fun of Kate, etc. I don't know her.

I do agree that snarking on Kate can take away from the whole child advocacy issue, however, I don't think everyone has to choose one or the other. Some people just don't like Kate. They don't like what she stands for or don't like her personality, don't appreciate her book writing or tv talent etc. I think they are entitled to that opinion and are entitled to voice it. There are many celebrities that are commented about negatively on the internet in discussions on blogs, etc.

I don't think everything that is discussed about the Gosselins has to be about child advocacy. I am against the child exploitation by TLC but I also comment on all things Gosselin. I comment on Jon being seen with younger women, Kate on DWTS and her "lack of dance talent", the kids at the bus stop or in their driveway or DisneyLand.

I don't think there's anything wrong with giving opinions about Kate, Jon, their divorce saga, the lawsuit with TLC, etc. Not everything is about child advocacy.

I do think Kate's wardrobe or manicures or hairstyle should be kept a separate topic from the TLC protest or the child advocacy debate. I would hope they are separated. One has nothing to do with the other.

That's just my opinion on the matter. I know others see it differently.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Just a little off topic - Speaking of the Kreiders, did anyone see the recent Pull-Ups tv commercial with the little boy sitting on the potty? It made me think of the Kreider potty training fiasco in which they tried to make a huge issue out of.

    ReplyDelete
  95. momsby,

I personally don't plan to watch Twist of Kate because I don't like Kate. I do think she is entitled to do whatever show comes her way if that's what she wants. I don't blame her for going after what she wants, and I don't blame others that want to watch her.

I think people who say don't watch the show are saying it to those who complain about her and want her to just go away. She won't "go away" if her ratings are up. It's sound advice.

There's just something about Kate, even Jon, that makes you watch them even though you don't like them. I admit that I watch Kate sometimes even though I don't like her. I've watched her on The View and other shows knowing I will cringe or complain. I think I watch to see if anyone is ever going to call her out on something and to see what she has to say in response. Whoopie asking her about why she went to the house when Jon had custody and Kate trying to explain her "mommy instinct" was classic.

I think her new show sounds boring and not something I would want to watch, but at the same time I'm intrigued to see what she could possibly offer another family in the advice dept. How entertaining would that be to watch.

I have to decide if I will watch out of sheer curiosity or if I won't watch because I don't support her. I don't think there's anything wrong with someone telling me not to watch if I want her to just go away. It is the only way she will go away. Kate herself said she doesn't care if the haters hate her as long as they watch. She knows it brings ratings and ratings keep her where she wants to be.

    ReplyDelete
  96. lucysmom,

I didn't see that commercial. But that child was acting! lol.

But seriously, is he really naked? Is he really taking a dump or peeing? Going to the bathroom is a private matter. It should not be public entertainment.

I personally think they should not show stuff like that on tv at all, not even for commercials. As a mommy I see all that as totally innocent, but not everyone viewing is a "mommy".

    ReplyDelete
  97. And speaking of protests and boycotting... I agree that it's just going to backfire into their faces. It doesn't do anything much for their cause except create more attention, ratings for TLC, drama and discussion and nothing beyond that. Oh, you might get a few laws here and there similar to PA's requirement for the Gosselins but not much more.

I'm certainly not intimidated by the Khaters. I think they hugely underestimate the Kate admirers and supporters. If anything, it's just going to foment even more support for her.

  98. ROFL! Love the title:

Jon Gosselin Takes A Break From Not Working and Plays Golf

Jon Gosselin took time out from his busy schedule of not working and hanging out with his new girlfriend to play a round of golf at a country club in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. If the former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star is worried that the rest of the world sees him as a slacker, he’s doing a great job of hiding it.

I have to hand it to this guy, he has a pretty sweet life. I mean, sure, I could do without the reality TV film crew, the paparazzi cameras following my every move or the public spectacle of a divorce he went through—but aside from all that, the life of Jon Gosselin is pretty footloose and fancy-free, from my vantage point. He really does seem to live the life of a college student during senior week. He plays golf, he goes to bars, he hits up a Target in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon, he cruises around with a 20-something on the back of his motorcycle. Not a bad way to spend your time.

More of Jon hitting the links on the next page.

  99. Good morning everyone! OMG my husband wanted to kill me this morning. My toddler got ahold of my laptop again this morning since I left it on the dining room table. She pullede half the freakin keys off! I swear I was gonna die taking ahain another almost 2 hours to get the keys back on. You think I would have learned from the first time!

It's a total freaking joke for any protest at this time. I would have made sure the cops came and arrested those idiots if they attemped anything near that house. For real I would have gone there myself..Thats all shades of anger management psycho and it was all talk. Wyno Girl and some batty grannies with too much time on there hands would be the only ones there.

I would have gone and taken the trip with the kids in the minnivan and taken out my bucket-o-spoons and beatin people down.. I don't play! What is that movie "The Patriot" w/Mel Gibson? It would be like that..Just smackin the idiot haters down.. I'm ready to handle their stupidity.

  100. I think there's way too much on tv and movies regarding adult issues that should be kept a private matter, period. Most people don't blink twice over a toddler sitting on the pot, acting or not. I don't think that toddler actor is being exploited or inappropriately filmed or used at all. I really don't think it's life damaging to them even as they get older. Older than that, though, then it's certainly not appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Ok I went a bit off topic cause I hate idiots. So what I really meant to say was its pointless to protest because the 3 or so of them have nothing to protest. The kids now have savings accounts just for the show earnings, their schedules are beingt monitored and they now have the OK as per thye State of PA. So basically there is nothingthey could protest other thaqn the fact that they don't want to see the show be a hit because that means more freebies for the family. And heaven forbid any Kate hater sees her getting something they can't afford they will just go ballistic in their own sorry minds.

Rant over.. Still upset about my laptop...xoxoxox

That's better than nothing. Change doesn't happen overnight. Besides, even if only one person notices, all it has to be is the right person.

People protest and boycott all the time. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. It's nothing new. But even the Kate fans are bringing attention to the protest now by talking about it.

  104. LOL Baby Mama about your laptop! At least it was something that was fixable. Just think, if a TLC camera crew was filming her doing it they wouldn't have stopped her... they would have just filmed it for my entertainment later! I'm sorry I missed it. lol.

I think they are protesting young children on reality tv in general. Their loss of privacy until they are old enough to make that decision themselves, for one example. The hours they are filmed and the amount they are paid, for another.

And since it's not just about the Gosselins there are other children in reality tv not being paid I'm sure. Do the Roloff, Hayes and Duggar children get paid for their appearances?

    ReplyDelete
  105. I never felt that anyone has the right to know what I do with my kids money. But poor Kate has to deal with it because she was on a show. I think it was wonderful that she didn't say anything because it was nobodys business. Everyone is up in this womans life like they care about those kids but they don't. They just want to hurt a woman they hate just because she gets things for frre, and became a Star thanks to them stirring up controversy about her. Tell me this woman is having the last laugh and personally I love it.

P.S I do not have a bucket-o-spoons YET but plan on it if these loons piss me off anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  106. And Schmecky I agree with you 100%.

I just get angry that they ise the Gosselin kids as their platform BECAUSE of their hare for Kate. The Duggars and their 126 kids creep me out to no end and I say good for them, get your cash and do your thing. Where are the protests for the kids being raised as "mommies" only allowed to wear dresses and watching their mom pop out a kid a year? Where is the protest for that? Isnt that situation more important that bitching about Kate Gosselin and her freebies by using the kids as an excuse? Insanity at its finest.

They don't see that thanks to places like GWOP, they made Kate a Star and girl is milking it and providing for her kids. GOOD FOR HER. I think its great.

    ReplyDelete
  107. SG,

Yes, my point exactly. As I stated, it's going to foment even more support for her (either because of or by drawing attention to the protests - which therefore, will unintentionally backfire, drawing even more ratings for TLC).

    ReplyDelete
  108. Baby Mama,

I'm sure that some people just hate Kate or are jealous and use child advocacy as an excuse. I'm sure it's true with some. Of course every non-fan seems to get lumped in together though.

I think though that some that may appear jealous just feel Kate isn't deserving of what she gets for free. Some feel she was rewarded for not being a very nice person. That's just my opinion from some of the things I have read in the past.

I think others feel that way about Jon too. Even right now it seems like he is living a nice lifestyle and people wonder how is that possible? It seems that it is undeserving to some.

    ReplyDelete
  109. lucysmom,

I agree that some may tune into TLC just to see what it's all about. But that may just be for the first episode. If they aren't fans of the show from the beginning, I really can't see them watching it every week. The ratings may be up at first but they probably won't stay that way. I could be wrong.

    ---------------------------------------------------

But most "kids money" is from their parents, allowances, trust funds, etc. Especially at that young of an age.

If a child worked for that money on a tv show it would be different. It's the children's money. They earned it.

A parent can take a percentage of that money to pay for supporting the child's "career" if they have to. There's a percentage that a parent is legally allowed to take but no more as far as I know.

What if you want to put all the kids' money in an account for them for their future but your husband wants to blow it all on a large tv for the family and a family trip to Disney World? Who decides? I'm sure there are tons of scenarios that could come into play when a child in a family has an income. Gives me a headache to think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. SG,

Hmmm... You are right on several points. However, I think the overall issue depends on your political world view of government vs parental role and responsibilities over children's welfare; its depth, breadth and scope of governmental reach. Unfortunately, because society isn't perfect and neither are parents, and some parents are just plain bad enough to make the rest have to unnecessarily fork over some parental decisions and responsibilities to the government.

That being said, I agree with Baby Mama in that these protestors are just hell-bent and out to get Kate and using child advocacy as a pretext. So whoever else they have to bring down to do it, including the rest of us, so be it for them. Altruistic? My ***. They're only in it for their own childish hurt feelings of inadequacies or whatever. I'd also say to them, "Sheesh, get over it", but of course, just like a toddler in the midst of a temper tantrum, they're incapable of rationale.

    ----------------------------------------------------

I totally agree with you. It's honestly a scary thing to know that the government can essentially control how you raise your children in some aspects.

I agree it's unfair especially because it's usually based on parents that don't do right by their children. As an aside to that, I wonder why you're not more frustrated with Kate and Jon and TLC than with the "child advocates". It's their actions that brought this about. Had they handled the children being filmed regarding privacy and hours filmed and pay, this wouldn't be an issue. TLC really went out of their way to avoid Child Labor Law issues. It's because of them that this is even being discussed.

Aside from that I also worry about what the government can say about what I do or don't do with my children. Religion, education, health (vaccines, etc)... those things are all very personal, private decisions.

For instance, my daughter takes the bus home from school. Yesterday, I was driving past her school just before dismissal and told my husband I was going to pick her up instead. He actually asked Are you allowed? (I usually have to send a note with her to school in the morning if I plan to pick her up.) I was like What?!?! Allowed?!?!?! If I want to pick my daughter up from school, I'll pick her up from school. But I know the school frowns on it because of custody issues, etc.

Before going in I actually debated between sounding like I was asking if it was okay I was picking her up or going in there assertive and letting them know I was picking her up. I decided on being assertive. She's my daughter. I will pick her up if I want to and I won't apologize for that. I did explain I was passing by, etc.

I'm one of the parents that feel I have a right to know what's going on in her class. I'm her parent and that doesn't end when she's in school. It was very hard for me to hand her over to school and give up my rights to just go in and check on her whenever I wanted. I wanted to see her in her new setting, etc but I also know how important it is for her for her personal growth. It still bugs me that I can't peek in on her in class just for the fun of it. LOL.

  116. SG,

There's no reason for me to be frustrated with J&K nor TLC. It would have been a non-issue except for the Khaters using them for their own personal issues by trying to make it everybody else's issue.

And until it can be proven that their filming and loss of privacy is actually permanently damaging and not just speculated on, (like in 10 years or so) I will still support their right to doing their show.

I agree that this can get complicated. What if Dad wants to use money for college and mom wants to use some for expensive private school, or to hire a housekeeper or nanny to make the child's life better. There needs to be resources for families to help them find ways to work out these issues. The answers are different for each family and while guidelines are good, I don't know if a law could cover all of the exeptions and circumstances. Maybe future generations will have better answers

But I do question, some people (the ones who have been trash talking Kate & Jon and even making innappropriate comment's about the kid's) on every Gosselin site out there for month's. I just can't take that kind of "child advocacy" seriously. I don't care if they don't like Kate or not. I just find some of the ring leader's rather hipocritical.
    ----------------------------------

I totally see your point. And I agree with you. To a degree.

There is hypocrisy all around. How about the ones that complain about people not saying nice things about Kate yet bash other bloggers and other commenters? What are their true intentions?

The "If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all" should apply to everyone, not just those against Kate.

It seems to me there is always an "except" implied, than it's okay to say whatever you want. As in If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything, "except if they are a racist", "except if they have a hate blog", "except if they have a fan site", "except if they seem mentally ill", "except if they go on national tv with your wife and call out your sister", "except if they are passive aggressive". How about "except if they exploit your children for money"? There is always an exception to justify bashing others.

And I was not directing this to you in particular momsby. ;)

  122. I received my PeaceLoveWorld tee shirt today. We had a drawing tonight to decide which child gets to wear it to school tomorrow. That was fast! It came wrapped in tissue in a lovely box. We had a second drawing to decide who gets the box (perfect for storing treasures!) Tomorrow I have promised to send in orders for tees for the rest of the crew here. Thank you so much for the contest.

  123. Sounds like many of us have had a long tiring day. I'm hoping I wake to fresh paper tomorrow. That's a fresh start and great way to start a day. :)

  126. It really hurts to hear so many knocking Jon because he dates such younger women!! When I was 20, the man I ended up marrying, was 32,and we have been married for 30 years! He says he could never be with a woman his own age,or even closer to his age,as he thinks women age worse than men do,and is proud to have a young, sexy looking woman for a wife. He ALWAYS dated much younger women, what's wrong with that? Not all people are the same, what a boring world it would be is we were! Quit knocking Jon, you sound as bad as the khaters!

  127. SG- yes 500. My recipe only makes 60. I don't even want to think if how many times I have to make it!!! My kids are going to help me and if that's child labor, just turn me in! It's a good thing I have a big mixer with a dough hook. I just hope the motor lasts. It's going to take one kid just to wash pans and get them ready for the next batch. My son asked if it would take more than an hour. It's going to take more than a day. Oh well. Off to bed and early to wrap up work projects so I can bake and bake and bake on Saturday.
