Coupon Cabin Gets Nasty, Kate, On Parenting, Dating & Looking Young

USWEEKLY.COM Kate Plus 8 -- minus a job?

Former reality show matriarch Kate Gosselin has been let go from her gig as a blogger for CouponCabin, the company's CEO announced in a letter Tuesday.
"Some nine-plus years ago, I started CouponCabin with the thought of creating a single website that had all the best coupons . . . no gimmicks, no fluff, just a site that was easy to use and that had great deals," founder Scott Kluth wrote. "A series of recent events have made it clear to me that Kate Gosselin and her contributions do not align with the authenticity which we set out to build almost a decade ago, and that Ms. Gosselin is simply not a good fit with the wonderful team and culture at CouponCabin."
Concluded Kluth, "We wish Kate, her family and her support staff all the best."
Beyond the CEO's letter, CouponCabin has declined to elaborate on the "recent events" that led them to fire the 37-year-old Philadelphia native, who is a mom to twins Cara and Madelyn, 12, and sextuplets AadenCollinJoelLeah, Alexis and Hannah, 8, with ex-husband Jon Gosselin. Since TLC's Kate Plus 8 went off the air in 2011, Gosselin has focused on her kids and her blog, in which she shared budgeting tips with CouponCabin's readers. Last week, however, the mom of eight appeared on Watch What Happens Livewhere she addressed her youthful appearance and those reports that she's dating her bodyguard"I am probably one of the rare few who de-age," Gosselin told Andy Cohen, shooting down speculation that she's had work done. As for her bond with her longtime bodyguard Steve Neild? "I'm single! Still [and] always," she exclaimed, denying longstanding rumors of a romance.

You would think that experiencing two multiple pregnancies and births (first twins, then sextuplets), raising eight children, going through a difficult divorce and having your life picked apart publicly would take a toll on your looks. Just the opposite, in Kate Gosselin‘s case. At 37, she’s looking better than ever. And despite persistent rumors that she’s gone under the knife, she insists that her young appearance is entirely natural. Us Weekly quotes a statement she made onWatch What Happens Live the other day: “I am probably one of the rare few who de-age.”
Shown a photo of herself looking tired and a trifle heavy back in 2004 soon after giving birth to her sextuplets, she went on to explain that after that ordeal, “you have to get better, right? You can’t get worse than that.”
(Still, the gossip goes on. Sources have told the magazine that Kate’s looks are Botox-enhanced.)
The other question that keeps turning up for the reality star is whether she’s seeing anyone, now that her split from ex-husband Jon is several years old.
The one name that comes up often is Steve Neild, the family’s long-time bodyguard. Not so, says Kate. “I’m single! Still [and] always,” she told Andy Cohen. The only reason Steve is there, she adds, is to protect her and her family. “I’m not going to give out [past horror] stories, but it’s warranted for sure. He keeps them safe.”
Will she ever become Kate Plus Mate again? She’s said that she wouldn’t mind being on a dating show – and that the kids keep urging her to find someone new. But she also acknowledges the challenges that come with dating a famous mom who comes with a large ready-made family.
She tells Access Hollywood, “It’s a hard spot to be in. [Eight children] is a lot to expect from anyone….So, I mean, whatever happens. [If] somebody is brave enough to stick around for some period of time, it’s probably meant to be.”
In the 12 years since she first became a mom, Kate has been through plenty of lows along with the highs, which she says have matured her and changed her priorities. “Going through such a public divorce, and feeling like you have to fight for your kids every day and the things that protect them and the things that are important for them has really, really, really made me realize what is important – and it’s them.”

  1. Thanks for the great post, BabyMama.
I feel really bad for Kate. The way Coupon Cabin handled this was so unprofessional. I've never seen a situation handled so poorly. I had never heard of Coupon Cabin before Kate worked for them. They let negative feedback influence them to some extent. All they've accomplished is to add fuel to the fire if those who constantly
    harass Kate 24/7.
Kate does look great. And if there's a special "someone" out there, I can only wish her the very best. Those who spend their lives trying to hurt Kate are a dime a dozen.

  2. If you cut the scathing comments from the letter it says that because of Kate’s lack of authenticity in her posts, CC lost sight of their mission. They imply that criticism sent to CC helped them realized that Kate brought in a level of gimmickry and fluff that stopped readers from saving money.

Really? This is a coupon site. What aspect of authenticity was missing?

Wouldn’t you want gimmickry to increase your profile; gimmickry is a common business practice in advertising. I also think adding fluff to their site would help prevent them from being just another site with coupons. The grocery store has a wall of coupons; there is no gimmickry or fluff… just coupons. I stop, check it out, and leave. Is this what coupon cabin wants? As a business, I would prefer to get to know my customers in order to serve them better. I would want a level of gimmickry and fluff so my business is fun and exciting.

Clearly CC became overwhelmed with the level of attention they received having Kate on their “wonderful” (dry and boring) team and were unable to navigate through the hateful rhetoric to target the real users of their site.

Justifiably, their level of users will now decrease greatly because Kate’s supporters will leave and the khaters will leave (because Kate is no longer involved) and CC will return to mimicking the dull cork board located at the entrance of grocery store.

  3. I see the khaters are still out in force. Doesn't surprise me since their sole existence is to spread their brainwashed garbage.

  4. I hope the flyswatter is around here someplace, we sure need it. This coupon blog issue bothers me for several reasons. First, Kate is the same Kate that they hired, if they didn't like it, they shouldn't have hired her. I get the impression that they wanted more of a homely mom or something, but Kate in no way pretended to be someone she isn't. Also, if they did decide for whichever reason to fire her, fine, do it, but they didn't need to publish that letter. Just say if asked, we decided th take Coupon Cabin in a diffeent direction, don't throw Kate under the bus. They just make themselves look bad by doing that. I have to hope that this is just one door closing to let a better one open.

  5. Sorry folks. In the hospital so a little slower swatting than normal. Why on earth these fanatic haters think they can say whatever they want is beyond any normal human understanding. They turned in Kate to protective services who investigated and found the charges groundless. They turned in Kate to animal cruelty, they investigated and charges groundless.

I know this group has a vendetta against Kate and that is not groundless! That is just sicko garbage. Go find somebody else's blog to pester. You are not welcome here.

As for Coupon Cabin, I'd never heard of it either until Kate started writing for them. I only read Kate's columns there so I won't bother going back. Tashapork you said it well as usual.

  8. Thanks for the swatter, Linda! Hope you get to feeling better soon! You are in my prayers!

I will not be using Coupon Cabin...the only reason I knew about them was when Kate went to work for them! But there are other ways to get great coupons without ever visiting CC! Wonder how many subscribers they will lose over this?

  9. Over the Hill has mush for brains. Come on ... you know this how??? You have personally observed it or you've been told about it on the hate sites???

If I hear one more first amendment "well I can say what I want to say..." I want to remind you that WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIKE AND SUPPORT WHOMEVER WE WANT. So get the heck back on your dirtbag sites.

  12. Linda, I saw Hailey on Access Hollywood, I thought I missed her on Lifetime (is that the channel?). Do you know if that has aired yet?
    Thanks!!

  13. Linda - Am just catching here at BM's. Am so sorry to hear you are in the hospital!! I hope it will be short & you are back home with your family quickly. Hugs!

  14. Hey Ziggy. Thanks so much. I am home now and surgery went well. I appreciate those hugs,

  15. Good to hear the surgery went well LindaO. Rest well. What the haters fail to realize is that yes, they have the right to state their opinion; however, they do not have the right to post hateful rhetoric on a site that clearly identifies itself as a FAN Site.

One could argue that the haters are FANatically obsessed with Kate and that would make them fans too, but I think they would fail to see the irony it in.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Fascinated, love your take on the FANatically obsessed ones! You are right...it makes them fans as well! lol I agree, their right to free speech ends where our right to a safe blog site to post starts!

Linda, so glad the surgery went well and you are back home!!! Now get the rest you need to completely heal! :-)

I missed all you guys! Ive been busy complaining to the idiots of Coupon Cabin for writing such a stupid letter about Kate. I have not heard back from them..lol

  18. Hope all are ready for H Sandy! Praying for everyone's safety!

  19. Thank you all for your prayers and great thoughts. They are much appreciated.

For some reason I could moderate but couldn't post comments for last few days. Weird.

Hurricane Sandy has about finished in NC and along with freespirit I pray for the rest of the folks in the path. We didn't even have rain today but the collision of the upper level rain from Sandy along with the cold fronts moving south are expected to collide and dump 20+ inches of snow in the western part of NC tonight. That's just unheard of for October.

Please take care and stay safe folks from Virginia through the NE part of US. When they tell you to evacuate, please do. I know the electric repair crews are already on the move. This is one scary storm.

  20. We continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers, Linda!! Hoping for daily improvements.

Also so concerned for everyone in the path of Sandy. Be safe and like Linda says, please do leave if you're asked to evacuate. Praying for your safety and protection.

  21. My prayers to everyone including Kate that lives in Sandy's path. Stay safe.

    Baby Mama, are you ok?

  24. Hello everyone! I'm back finally. When things got bad my parents came and picked us up. Our place has flooding and no power. The kids have not had school for 3 days. As you can see on the news lower Manhattan and New Jersey got hit the worst. My prayers go out to them.

I tried to get into the city to go back to work. Still after 3 days can't get in! But we're all going as a family tomorrow regardless of no home electricity as work will resuming for all tomorrow that are above 39th street. There are flooded subways and families really struggling till the power comes back on. But we made it through 9/11 so were resilient!

    1. It sure is great to hear from you, BabyMama!! Have been thinking about you and your family.
      Yes!! You are resilient!!

We've been watching the news reports and are keeping everyone in prayer.

Our hearts go out to everyone dealing with the destruction from this storm.

  25. Good to hear you are all ok, Baby Mama! Still praying for all those affected by the storm. Yesterday our PG&E utilities company sent a plane load of their best to the NY/NJ area to help with the cleanup & restoring of electricity. I understand we are also sending utility trunks/drivers...they also left yesterday but will take several days to drive cross country. I am sure there are others coming from all across the country to help! So thankful that there so many more Americans ready to reach out & help others instead of making hateful remarks about others! I know we are all praying for the victums of the storm.

  26. So much concern for all you northern-east coast folks! What a wallop "mother nature" hit us with! Glad you finally checked in BabyMama! So sorry to hear you had floodin at your house? How bad is the damage? Glad your all safe though!!

Will take months, somethings years to re-build and get back to normal up there. I have so much empathy for these folks. I survived hurricanes in the past and know the headaches, lack of power issues, shortages! Takes lots of patience & bein a good neighbor to survive it all!

And LindaO...what you doin in the hospital again girl?? Well, seems it all went well...glad you're back home takin care of business there and here! LOL

Its been a tough go for Kate lately. That darn RH hate mess...haters have been relentless and the stupidity of their remarks gets crueler and more crazy every day! CouponCabin was a real surprise to me. Kate brought them notoriety they never could have dreamed of! She did her job...gave advice based on her REAL LIFE experiences of usin coupons and tips to save. How much more REAL can you get?

The CEO showed himself to be a small time guy with obvious lack of professionalism...and he didn't know how to deal with the negative idiots and caved in to bullies! What a cheap shot he took at Kate to get his last bit of media attention! Fascinated and Tashapork...excellent comments I so agree with!

So what is next for Kate? She keeps hinting somethin good is in the making! Sure hope it pays well...It's got to be a major stress for her worrying about the future and being the sole provider for her kids!

Take care everyone...BabyMama...miss you on twitter! Send us a zinger every once in a while...it gets the haters all lathered up! LOL

  27. Hello everyone! Its been so hard to get on line these past couple of days and making sure our phones are charged! FiredUp, so true, the few times I've tweeted lately gets everyone in a tizzy and I LOVE IT!

Fresh paper is needed for this new post. Scent of the day is a Tuna Fish sandwich. Cause literally that's all I've been eating lately! Please share your thoughts on my new post. Miss you all! Stay safe!
