What Will Kate Wear To The Emmys? What Type Of Parent Are You? My Favorite Kate Recipe!

Hello Gosselin fans! Just when you think all is quiet on the Gosselin front and the negative naysayers wish that her 15 minutes were up...They are sadly WRONG! The world is a buzz with more Kate news..How exciting is it to be the opening skit for the Emmy's? They were super smart this year to get Ms. Gosselin to really get people excited for the show. Will she walk the red carpet? Will she be funny? Will she shock us? Love her or hate her, you can never stop talking about her. And I for one am happy to smirk just a little more at those that thought bigger and better things would never happen for the hardest working mother on TV. (In my opinion anyway ;)

So how cool is it that I was Googling "Kate Recipes" for my new post and my old Blog Post was the FIRST thing that came up?Trying to not let me head swell lol, but on of my first posts on my old blog still gets the most hits..And each week I will once again put up my favorites since the organic meatloaf is still simmering in our brains! However in honor of her "Back To School" blog post, I decided to showcase her famous Peanut Butter Play Dough! Hey and please come say hi in our comments section. We would love to hear from you!

Kate Gosselin's "Back To School" Peanut Butter Playdough
1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup honey & 1cup powdered milk
Knead until smooth but add a dash of flour for texture

Kate Gosselin is going to the Emmys: UsMagazine.com.

Details are mum, but E! News reports that Gosselin, 35, will appear at the very beginning of the Aug. 29 telecast – and she'll be getting close to some huge TV stars. The same day that Gosselin's Emmys plans were announced, a TLC rep confirmed that the reality mom will appear on the Nov. 14 episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska, the former Alaska Gov.'s upcoming reality show. Said TLC president Eileen O'Neill: "This project is going extremely well. I've been on location in Alaska, and it has become clear that it takes a special individual to thrive in Alaska."

What should we expect from Jimmy Fallon at The Emmys? I'm thinking this lol:

5 Parenting Types: Which Describes You? Babble.com

We all parent a little differently. Some of us our raise voices, others impose consequences. Some let anything go, others keep it all in check. Moms and dads are people with different life experiences, different personal philosophies. But that shouldn’t stop us from boiling it all down into a few easy categories. Which parenting type describes you best? Which categories do you straddle?

Momania blogger Theresa Walsh Giarusso, writing in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, thinks that she, like Kate Gosselin, might be a punitive parent. This is the mother who can turn what should be fun into a punishment. For Gosselin, this was a home chicken coop her brood of eight wasn’t excited enough about building. So instead of letting the fun in home-farming reveal itself, Gosselin said poop-scooping duties would go to those who misbehave. Giarusso knows she’s a punitive parent when she forces her son go swimming, even though he doesn’t want to (because her other two do want to). Or making all three go to the science center despite howls of protest. Here’s how she describes punitive parenting: …things that I think will be fun often turn into a forced march with my kids and then you get ugly about it The benefits of punitive parenting are, I suppose, they get your kid over the hump to try new things, which, they may some day come to enjoy (probably not the chicken poop thing.

Then there’s idle parenting, which means backing the heck out of your kids way and expecting them to self-entertain. The benefit with idle parenting is that you, the mom or dad, don’t go nuts. And your kids? They’re masters of their own destiny rather than lost little 24-year-olds confusing the American Dream with entitlements. Authoritative parents, as opposed to authoritarian parents, set clear boundaries and expectations — and enforce them with lots of snuggles and empathy. The benefit of this style is that you have healthy kids (regular family meals are apparently a hallmark of this parenting type) who thrive on the various routines set by Mom and Dad. Authoritarian parents are similar to authoritative but they don’t follow any of the commands with warmth or emotional connection. The benefit? Parents get their way! But then there’s the drawback of sad, depressed children among other consequences. Then, there’s Ghetto Parenting, the latest label to be offered alongside “Hello, My Name is” stickers. Ghetto parents argue in front of their children (oops), curse around the children (uh oh), and put their child off on friends and relatives in order to hang out in the street (well, if by street you mean the movies or a quiet restaurant, guilty as charged!). I don’t mean to be greedy but I’m a little of all five types, depending on the day (hour? minute?). What about you?

  1. Hey guys! I know the Babble post was at the beginning of the summer. But since we were having a discussion about parenting in the lasst post I thought it was very appropriate to bring the topic over here.

FYI: Kate has a great Back To School post up! You should really check it out by clicking on "Kate's Take" on the right!

  2. Well, Linda & SG, I had my whole post typed in and it disappeared as soon as BM hit her button to post this one. Its happened before but I think she wanted to end it. ohwell.

  3. I don't think Kate's a punitive parent. She seems more Authoritarian.

  4. I don't know if I would say that threatening poop duty makes Kate a punitive parent. A lot of families use cleaning after dog as punishment and it doesn't take away the joy of having a dog. Now if she made a big thing about collecting the eggs as a drag and a chore that would be different. Kate sees her day as a list of things that have to get done and that affects her outlook, but she also sees the pleasure in the accomplishment. I also don't see how taking children to an activity they might not be excited about as punitive. That is one of Kate's parenting traits that I have admired most and wish I had because it does help kids to learn to try new things and I think kids need to learn to tough it up and cope through things that are hard. An example is how she used the rings when the kids were three, at first they cried through it and she kept a positive attitude and they got better at it. I tend go towards more of an if we are going to cry we may as well just go home and I like how Kate sticks with it. I see Kate as usually an authoritative parent because she is structured and loving as well as strict. She is human and lets her frustration and such get the better of her sometimes, but I see her trying to work on it like the rest of us do.

  7. Aw caregiver, that sucks. I don't think she did it on purpose! I did think she was welcoming an end to the topic but then she brought the "parenting" over to this one and proved me wrong. lol.

Yikes. Ghetto parenting? lol. We took our girls to see The Wizard of Oz live in Manhattan and there was a "ghetto" mother in the bathroom. She was HUGE and she was WHIPPING her son (he was around 7) with a belt in the bathroom. Literally. That belt was flying around like a whip and she actually whipped a few women around her by accident. It was horrible.

  8. SchmeckyGirl Parenting 101

I think I'm a mix of Idle and Authoratative. Definitely not Punitive or Authoritarian or Ghetto. I'm kind of laid back as a mother but I'm definitely the disciplinarian in the home. Hubby is much more laid back than I am.

My friends all say that it's because I have the most well behaved girls of everyone they know, but I like to think that (although I think personality has a lot to do with it) it's because of the way we raised them. However, if it IS personality then I think it all the more shows you that you can't beat it out of a child. Sometimes they can't help their personality.

Of course my girls are still very young. I may be in for a huge surprise when they are tweens or teens.

I think the most important thing is love and respect on the part of both the parent and the child. I also think you need to touch base with your child each and every day. Lots of hugs, kisses and discipline and discussions.

My daughters know what is NEVER allowed, like hitting or getting fresh. Since they are still young sometimes they don't know what being "fresh" is so I explain it.

One thing I find to be key is to always discuss it with the child once they are calmed down. When they are upset or worked up they tend to be more defensive than willing to listen.

I also think it's key to understand why they are acting like they are. For me an emotional daughter means she is just really tired or had a bad experience at school, etc. Children don't always know how to handle those emotions.

Finding out why they are emotional or angry first before reacting is key for me. Allowing them cool down time is important too. I try to give my one daughter "space" because I see she's going to be emotional. My younger daughter is more happy go lucky, carefree and just silly.

I also give a warning every time and a threat (no book at night or play date) if they don't adjust their behavior. I also carry it out. I rarely have to go to that step. Also, if I feel that I (or my husband feels I) was to hard or reacted too quickly I have no problem explaining to them why I've changed my mind, etc. Mommy's are wrong too sometimes.

Like I said, my girls are still young so what I do works... FOR NOW...

    ------------------------------------------------

I agree! I think a lot of us do things with our children knowing that once they do something that is out of their comfort zone or they think they won't enjoy they will actually enjoy it.

I don't remember Kate doing that though. I remember Jon doing it with the fishing trip and the walk in the woods. Any examples anyone can think of?

  10. Mostly I guess I'm authoritative. I could be bits of most any of the others except perhaps the last - I gotta know where my kids are! When my oldest started driving I think I got one of the first GPS tracking systems ever - she thought it grossly unfair. I don't care; parenting is my job. I did explain that I did not have the time to check it every five minutes but if she was late I wanted some idea of where to start looking. Sometimes punitive if it's the umteenth time the same thing done in a day. It just depends. I guess being sone of all makes me a bad parent in some eyes. So be it; I'm secure in who I am.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Linda,
I was just saying elsewhere that I want GPS trackers implanted in my little girls! For anti-abduction purposes of course.

As for GPS trackers on the kids in general, my opinion is the child shouldn't care. If they do care it's because they are going somewhere they aren't supposed to be.

I don't think there's anything wrong with expecting to know where your child is when they go out.

We used to lie and tell my mother we were going to the movies and we were just hanging out all over the place with our friends (that she didn't want us with). If we didn't have anything to hide we wouldn't have cared if she tracked us down.

  12. SG - for Kate, right off the bat there's the battleship with the boys. One (Joel, I believe) said "I don't like this down here." Kate said, "Ket's try it and see if it gets better." Few minutes later he was going from room to room, later pretending to shoot the guns, etc.

  13. I don't think I would consider the first day of fishing a success. The kids were hot, tired, and didn't want to go. Even Cara didn't want to go. He (Jon) made a better choice the second day in choosing a pond that was more manageable. I don't think I'd call the woods hike a success either, with the whacking sticks and name calling. But they are his kids and his call.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well SG, perhaps it is my own actions in younger days that leads me to be so careful with my own! ;) My parents used to host everything from after game parties to dances to whatever. That way they knew where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing. I don't think I ever went anywhere off limits that I didn't get caught. Eventually I learned to be straight with the parental units, lol.

  18. Yes Linda, you're right. Jon had no patience and acted on his frustrations. He should have been embarrassed seeing himself. I think if he handled it differently they could have had a nice time.

Him chasing after the deer was ridiculous too.

  19. Do you really think Kate will go to the Emmys? I think it will just be filmed. The sextuplets start school the next morning and I doubt she would miss that (see her new blog)

  20. Denise~ They are saying on E! That she is absolutely going and is now the reason everyone will be watching both good and bad..The Emmys certainly knew what they were doing by getting her on. I'm so excited. Can't wait to see how she looks and most importantly what she wears!

  21. Ok so I am punitive/idle/authoritative depending on the day. Maybe throw a little Ghetto in there because I do have a trucker mouth, but in my defense I am married to one! LOL

I am really laid back as a mom, I don't make them make their beds and they have minimal chores because they are expected to pick up after themselves as they go anyway...but watch out if you disobey a direct "request" (translate: order- don't like to use the actual word with my kids)

    My kids can quote me:

1." I am not here to be your friend, you have enough of those. If you feel I am your friend, I am not doing my job."

    2. " I will always love you no matter what you do, but I won't always like your choices."

    3. "What I don't know can't hurt me, but so help you God if I find out!"

  23. CraftyMom~ What a great post..Alas, I am definetly an idle parent that my husband wishes was more authoritative. Am I reading it right that that's the one where basically the kids get away with murder? lol then that one is me.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes but an idle parent also is creating strong independent children that can make their way in the world.

"They’re masters of their own destiny rather than lost little 24-year-olds confusing the American Dream with entitlements." <===we've got a ton of those around here. DON'T need anymore! I'd rather have kids that are masters of their own life! LOL

  25. Mady was definitely unhappy about the sextuplets birthday party in Florida, but Kate wasn't being punitive by making her go. Mady and Cara weren't thrilled about going to Sesame Place because they were a little too old, Kate wasn't punitive with it. Some of the kids weren't happy about going skiing that first day, but it wasn't seen as a punishment, I really liked though how the next day after everyone had tried it, that they were able to let them choose to go or stay. I do think that Kate's attitude about going places is pretty positive and it affects the outcome.

  26. tashapork - ITA. I do not recall my parents ever asking us if we wanted to participate in an activity, trip, excursion, etc. If it was something new, we all did it. If we didn't care for it, they expected us to give it a second chance. If it was still outside our comfort zone, we didn't HAVE to do it a third time, unless it was a trade off. I enjoyed competitive horseback riding. A sister thought they were stinky dirty. She liked scuba, I'm afraid of unseen things in the water. She came to my horseshows, I went on her beach trips. Same with all the other kids. She didn't have to get on a horse, I didn't go under the sea, but as a family, we supported each other. Parental rule was you have to be nice about it. My youngest just did her first horseshow jumping and my heart was in my throat the entire time (I rode saddlebreds not hunter jumpers.) My hub said "Quit making those 'sucky noises every time she jumps!" I thought I was smiling but maybe not. We looked at each other and laughed remembering the J&K episode where she told him to quit snorting while he breathed, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  27. One of the things I most admire about Kate is that she's not afraid to move out of her comfort zone and try new things, even if it makes her appear less than perfect, e.g. dancing. In that vein, I enjoyed the restaurant gnocchi I had so much that I'm going to try to make it for dinner tonight, reading the "how to" from a book. Friends say I'm crazy to try. They are probably right. Maybe I'm just too dumb to realize I can't do it. So, here's a challenge to try stepping out of your comfort zone, and laughing if it doesn't work.

  28. Good "cough" afternoon everyone...

My husband decided he wanted to play Titanic last night. And not the version I was hoping for lol. He woke up in the middle of the night and jacked up the AC like the ship had just struck the iceburg. We all woke up so sick it felt like we were just pulled out of the water by the Carpathia. When it hurts to swallow even juice and your nose is on fire...then you know it's gonna be a bad day ;( How is everyone today? I hope better than me!

According to her blog, that would be Aug 25th (actually their school starts on the 26th). The Emmys are on the 289th so it's not the night before school starts. Maybe she'll go after all.

Also, I am not a stalker. It saw a pap picture last school year with the name of their school clearly painted on the school bus. I won't mention the name for their privacy.

  30. I'm a mix of punitive/idle/authoritative with a smidge of ghetto.

Punitive- My kids are not the outdoor type and have to be made to do outdoor activities even really fun ones. They gripe and complain if there's a lot of walking involved no matter how fun the activity. Case in point, we took them to Disneyland and my middle child (almost 9) complained from the moment we got there about having to walk! (Are you kidding me? It's DISNEYLAND!) We had a special day planned with a surprise brunch at Club 33 so in the end I knew they would be happy. They can't stop talking about it!

Idle- My kids play together so I don't need to be around much but we also play Trouble, Twister (I really hate that game) and other games as a family.

Authoritative- I TRY to set rules and punishments in a loving way. I'm very affectionate with my kids anyway and ever since my oldest was little I've told them that I have to kiss them as much as possible now that they're little because one day they aren't going to let me. Just the other day I asked my oldest son (12) if I was almost out of time before he cut me off. He answered, "Almost, as long as you don't do it in public." :((

Ghetto- Hate to admit it but I grew up in a rough neighborhood and kids thought themselves cool and tough the more you swore. It was a nasty habit that I've never been able to break.:( I am usually aware enough to not do it around my children. But every once in a while I will let something slip especially if I slam my finger or hit my toe. Without thinking something flies out of my mouth! My oldest son will say, "Hey, there are children present!" I apologize and tell him it slipped. I have explained to him that although he may be encouraged by friends at school to curse, not to do it because its easier to not start a bad habit at all than have to break it later when you realize how stupid it is.

I know I'm not the best Mom out there, boy do I have a lot of faults! But I try daily to improve on the things I dislike most about myself and pray endlessly for guidance! Still, I know that I do my best every day and that make me proud.

Sorry about the ridiculously long post. I don't comment very often but when I do Look Out!

    ReplyDelete
  31. AngelsMama~ We love when you post, and they can be as long as they need to be!

Kayla~ thank you for explaining the time line. I really hope that she does go, cause if she makes the ratings, whixh have been steadily downhill for years, then heck yeah she better go!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Kayla, the twins go back on the 26th. The first full day for Kindergarten is the 30th. They have two short sessions before that.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The Tups should be in first grade. I think you go to junior kindergarten or kindergarten and then to first grade. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems silly to be in kindergarten twice.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kayla - Many children are not ready to go straight from kindergarten to first grade. This is common with preemies and even non-preemies. The schools evaluate the children and recommend an additional year of kindergarten to allow for growth: manual dexterity, maturity, etc. My children did go straight from K to 1st grade, I wish I'd waited. In a transfer from FL to NC, although my youngest are again in private school, 75% of their classmates did two years of kindergarten. What does it mean? My kids, who were already small for their age, are now in classes with children who are a full year older than they are. The physical differences are amazing. Regardless of age, you have to do what is best for your children. My kids are very bright, and I let them go straight from K to 1; again, I wish I'd waited for these two. While they were mentally ready for first grade, they lagged behind in fine motor skills. Now they are way behind physically.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Okay, we've seen the internet buzzing with publications of Kate's salary. If, indeed, she IS getting $250k per episode, then WAY TO GO KATE (even though she is way behind many other reality stars.) The article doesn't say whether this is total Gosselin pay (inclusive of the kids' portion), nor does it have salary confirmation beyond one source. If it is accurate, then Kate is making up for those lower paychecks of the first years!

    ReplyDelete
  36. They go to an excellent school which tests for placement. If even part of the sextuplets should be placed in pre-K, I would have chosen to put them all in pre-K. Otherwise it would be labeling part of them as slower. Premies can benefit from an extra year of maturity.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree, but in a normal situation they should be in first grade. I was sayign the normal progression is porbably junior k or kindergarten an then first grade. We don't know. either way the twins and tups both start on the 26th. The first full day for kindrgarten is the 30th. I was just trying to help illustrate a timeline that's all. Didn't meant to create such a stir. I'm out and done with this topic.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Guess where Kate is this week, along with the 8? (As reported by Huffington Post via a fellow visitor's camera shots.)

She's back at Bald Head Island in NC where they vacationed last year just before the announced split. For those who don't know, Bald Head is a private island that is reached by ferry or other boats. It doesn't allow car traffic. You can go over for a day, but if you don't have accommodations, you are expected to leave on the last ferry of the day. (At least those rules were in effect 2 years ago.)

I hope they are having a grand end of summer time on the beach!

  40. Breaking News (lol does that sound like Nancy Grace?)

According to MyFoxPhilly Kate Gosselin is now a millionaire! That's according to their headline. The story goes on to report that "on paper she could be a millionaire if she receiving the pay raise reported."
    http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/entertainment/report%3A-kate-gosselin-now-a-millionaire

If she is a millionaire, then I say, "You Rock Kate!!!"

Minor snark (Jon - are you eating your heart out yet wishing you hadn't broken your contract? Perhaps while Kate is enjoying the beaches of Bald Head Island, you are by your pool. Hey - new business venture: you could sell vials of "Jon Gosselin's Pool Water" on eBay! Sorry, the haters just made me have to snark! My apologies!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sorry folks - I've been sitting in front of a monitor editing golfing film all day. Maybe that brings out the snark too?

It seems that every time Kate is in the news, Jon has an angle to get 15 minutes more. I'm wondering if the next Joncapade (that's Jon escapade condensed) will be filing suit again just before the Emmy's to take Kate back to court - again. This time, since she's reported now to be a millionaire, perhaps he will go for spousal support? Geez I hope not. That would really be fodder for being made fun of!

  44. Interesting with Ellen's twitter and NutiSystem there's been lots of speculation about Jon having a gig with them as a spokesperson. But, according to HollywoodLife, Jon is just a customer. 50. Good evening everyone. I am finally out of bed at 11pm. Because for some reason my non-drowsy cold medicine knocked me out. I literally lost 4 hours of my life. How I even was able to sleep that long is beyond me. I felt like I was drfeaming cause I heard a few screams from fighting kids but I was too tired to wake up. My husband did a great job giving the kids dinner & getting them to bed God bless. EXCEPT one of my kids took advantage of my coma and was up wayyy past bedtime. I won't hold that against him though.

What I will hold against him though is that my place looks like a bomb hit it. I awoke to a Will Smith movie. Whichever one that was when he woke up in a city alone. Why is it that men can do everything right but perhaps straighten?

I love griping in the evening. Other than that I feel better. Thank you for all the well wishes!

Pondering thoughts..Manhattan is flooded with tourisits and has swelled like my feet. So many people I know are excited to come to NY. Its funny that while they all want to come here, I can't wait to leave. I offically need a mental vacation..

  53. Ok, so I'm figuring at this point any photos of hot Kate in a bikini will spar more boobie-gate debates, but these are some great shots. Celebrity Photo has Kate & the kids on the beach fling Kites and hanging out. And I just love them. So check them out the rest of them here since I posted some already on my page! Thanks to Linda for the heads up!

"Plugging away on more material for her hit show, Kate Gosselin and the kids were spotted working on the beach in Bald Head Island, North Carolina on Thursday afternoon (August 12).

The TLC reality star mom and her brood followed the producers directions as they played with kites while the cable film crew captured all of the waterfront action."

  56. Bald Head Island - years ago we had a house there. By coincidence, I spoke with a friend this morning who still has a home there. According to Cheryl, whom I consider reliable, Kate & kids had been there since Saturday. There were no paparazzi until the day tripper made the photos and we're guessing sold the photos to Huffington Post. There were throngs of paparazzi who appeared on the ferry yesterday. Also, she said the film crew was just in the background, Kate and the big guy bodyguard were doing kite flying, then the crew moved in to get shots. Then when they stopped, the crew was talking to all and even playing with the kids. Cheryl had been lobbying for years to require accommodations on the island before you can get on the ferry; NC pretty much doesn't have private or restricted beaches so this issue hasn't flown. Even private resorts must allow beach access although sometimes this is kind of "hidden" so you have to know about it, but it's there. This is totally different from FL, for example, which has many private, restricted access beaches. At Bald Head you reach it by private boat but mostly by ferry. It is pretty much a quiet beach for folks who are trying to get away from crowds.

  57. LOL..We are those people who travel to the city for vacations(Toronto rather than NY). It's especially ironic at this time of year, when all the city folks are flooding our sleepy little cottage/tourist town. Mr.M & I managed to sneak away..just the two of us & finally saw Rock of Ages. Loved it, it's amazing how rested & relaxed I feel from just a short adults only trip. Works wonders for your mental health Baby Mama.
NC..seems to have become a family tradition of sorts for the G's, they always seem to have a great time there. What a fun way to end the summer. Although, our kids don't go back to school until, Sept7 so I'm not thinking back to school yet! I probably should be, but I enjoy summer way to much:)

  58. Is that a summer dress over a bathing suit or is it a swim dress? I can't tell but I've been looking for a swim dress all summer and that looks cute if it is one.

  59. angelsmama - I think it is a swim dress over a bathing suit. One of the other photos is a back shot of Kate and you see what appears to be a different bathing suit underneath.

  60. Do you know what photos reveal? I've known for some time about the embedded information in photos that are uploaded to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. I have the geotracking function turned off on my smartphone for my photos of my children, etc. This was something that photographers and techies knew but didn't say much about. Maybe we assumed (incorrectly) that everybody knew.

If you don't know, then you will now. Unless disabled, smartphones (e.g. iPhones, etc) have GPS info embedded in the photo. If you upload the photo to a website, Facebook, Twitter, etc., then people can actually figure out via geotracking exactly where the photo was made. You can unknowingly give out info like where your home is located, your workplace, etc. So before you post those Facebook photos of your kids so grandmother can see them, you might want to think twice.

  61. Good afternoon everyone! Happy Friday the 13th!

I consider yesterday a dream. Today is my coming-out-of-my-coma day. I walked around in some kooky haze. Today the weather is beautiful, and I finally got to get out. This morning everyone was asking me if I was ok. I guess no one has seen a sick woman before? Or mabye I was not dressed up to go out.. but I guess shorts & a plain tshirt are not appropriate?

I finally "got" why Kate always semms to go out now in heels and "dressed". Everyone criticizes her when shes out in sweats, then they attack her when shes dressed nice. After being looked at like I was gum on the bottom of a shoe I wondered why women get all dressed (some even in heels!) to take an art class with their kids.

Why is that? I truly guess it depends on where you live, but I noticed today that stay-at-home moms here feel the need to dress up now for the most mundane things. I was actually embarassed I was made to feel like a shlep. Of course I took the baby for pizza afterwards and I bumed into 2 more moms all dressed up to go for PIZZA.

Anyway, I guess my point is that people shouldn't attack Kate for wanting to look nice even at Target. I learned my lesson, and don't want to go out anymore unless my hair and makeup is perfect, and that Im dressed right. Because I ONLY b ump into people when I look like complete crap.

    Thanks for listeneing. ;)

  62. In my stupid rant I forgot to tell you...

Blogger has now decided to automatically send comments into a new spam box that they feel may be spamming your site. And didn't even tell me. If you post with a link and you don't see it post please e-mail me. Poor Wildchild re-posted something 4 times, and I'm sorry I only found it now...

  63. Denise HOLY SMOKE! I just read your post! I called it, they DO read here and made sure they did exactly what you asked ;)

  64. Baby Mama - I'm with you on dressing up.

When we lived in FL only tourists or snow birds got dressed up (even Bank managers forewent suits and dressed in polos and khaki's.) And this was in an area where there was valet parking at the mall!

I've been saying since I moved back to NC, mothers Kate's age, dress pretty much like Kate does, wearing full makeup, hair done, nice clothes, and many wear heels to go to the supermarket! I've yet to see anybody drop off kids at school without looking as if they were headed to an office (yes, I mean the SAHMs.) You are so right about style of dress varying according to where you live.

Imagine if you also had paparazzi following you all the time, just waiting to catch a "less than perfect day" shot etc.!!

Perhaps too, this is why I keep suggesting that Jon NOT look like a raggamuffin all the time! When I see how he's dressed, I think, who the heck is going to hire somebody who looks like this? I'd enjoy sneaking ini and throwing away those ratty jeans, shorts, and flip flops.Unless, of course, he's trying to apply for jobs as a beach bum.

  67. Geotagging - Okay, thanks for emails. That site has gotten so many emails it is down right now. If you want to turn off Geotagging on an iPhone, Go to:
    Settings
    Select Location Services
Turn it off for the Camera app
(It should still work then for maps, Google, TWC, etc.)
It's been too long since I had a Blackberry so can't help there.

  70. Hello everyone..I probably had the most scariest upsetting nights of my life. It's never a dull moment here. I was still very sick last night so I tried to put the kids to bed early. The baby obviously wanted nothing of it and started to climb her crib. The next thing I hear is s crash to the floor. As hysterical as I was I made my husband to rush us to the Emergency room. After waiting a full hour to be seen the doctor tells is she's fine. She must have fell on her behind & not her head.

My husband then runs out to whatever store he could find a todddler bed. We finally get home & we needs to neighbor to come over after an hour to help us put it together. At 11:30 is when we all finally passed out w/the kids. With my baby girl in her first new princess pink toddler bed.

I was thinking about how Kate broke down on the infamous Utah trip and how I had my own little meltown of my own last night. Kids can really overwhelm you sometimes to the point where letting it out us truly the only way to decompress. If your Kate Gosselin or Steven Slater sliding out of Jet Blue plane. We all go through it but thankfully it's not publically.

FYI my daughter just LOVES her new bed.

  71. Baby Mama - I hope you are all well soon! What a milestone to have your youngest in a toddler bed! That's a big step. As for meltdowns, I think everybody has them, some for all to see, some that are held inside, and some photographed for the world to see.

  72. Brief confession time. In answer to several emails. No, the gnocchi were not a success; in fact, they were vile! Instead of light fluffy pillows of potatoes that melt in your mouth (a la chef Anne Burrell), mine were dense lumps. I junked those and made frittatas, since those are pretty hard to screw up.

  73. Good afternoon everyone! All is good today.. I tried to get well and so far so good. My daughter wont sleep in her new toddler bed for naps, but tonight we will see how it goes.

Today's fresh paper is slightly different. I didn't keep this one going to the 100 posts, because I needed your thoughts on a recent Huffington Post article. So the fresh smell today is of a lovely almond soap that will hopefully wash my fustration away and leave me with a lovely relaxing sense of calm. Enjoy ;)
