Kate Gosselin Still Ratings Gold For TLC, Watch Inside Kate's World Here!

Kate Plus 8' specials way up in viewers: EW.COM

The premiere of the first of two Kate Plus 8 specials was a boon to TLC on Sunday: The episode titled “6th Birthday Surprise” averaged 3.4 million viewers while “Inside Kate’s Worlds” attracted 3 million. Both episodes not only posted triple-digit gains over TLC’s second quarter averages in the time period but earned double-digit ratings and delivery gains over the November 2009 airings of Jon and Kate Plus 8.

The Kate Plus 8 specials — which focus on the divorced mom’s complicated home life — are different from Twist of Kate, a new TLC series debuting this fall in which the mother of eight will travel the country to meet families with challenges at work or at home and attempt to “walk a mile in their shoes.” It’s unclear how many specials TLC will produce, but the next one airs July 11.

  1. You know I love Kate and the kids!! Cannot wait for more and I knew that ratings would be good!! K8 ROCKS!! :)

  2. Hmmm...so according to the haters EVERYONE but us here hate Kate then who was watching? LOL IMO the kids looked genuinely happy "things were back to normal"

  3. Iknow I havent posted in a while due to personal issues but I did watch the show on Sunday evening. I missed them so much, it was awesome to see how much they have grown up, you can tell they are a year older. I knew the ratings would be great. The second hour "Inside Kate's World" was amazing, just to see exactly whats its like to make all those big disicions. I was really glad Steve finally spoke out about what he sees behind the scenes. It was VERY interresting.

  4. Thanks Baby Mama. Heading into last procedure. Yahoo.

  6. Loved both shows! The kids have really grown and they looked so happy to have their crew friends back!

    I too thought it was interesting to see Steve talk a bit about the "behind the scenes" and his role.

    I did have to laugh a few times though, because as much as I love Kate, she can be a bit of a drama queen. LOL I can sympathize with the whole low blood sugar thing because I get the same thing but she just made me laugh how dramatic she was.

    Can't wait for Twist of Kate, it will be interesting to see how that pans out!
    It was so good to see them all and I like the idea of the "specials" but would love to see a few more a year then just 2!

  7. Thanks for posting the show!

    So along the lines of ratings and such, TLC gives permission to post the shows on places like YouTube, right? So how do all of the hits factor in? Obviously they don’t into the ratings per se but they must somehow. Anyone know more about this? Linda?

  8. BEE~ How are you? I havent seen you in the longest! You used to post here all the time, then went MIA for a bit ;) Email me so we can catch up!

    Wildchild~ I love this site called howstuffworks.com which gives you a little insight into Nielsen. However that is not always the only way they predict how well a show has done. I personally feel it's imporant to include what is both DVR/TIVO'ed & and the popularity of sites like YouTube. See both sites for a better idea of how they feel it's calculated:

  9. They may not figure into the ratings standards, per say, but companies also keep track of where their product is posted on-line and the views it gets. That also counts towards the over-all viewership although not in the the standard ratings. But the on-line numbers also contribute to getting advertisers for the show.

    Perfect example - Intel. They advertised on both episodes. Intel is no small company, they would not waste their advertising budget somewhere where they didn't think their advertising was targeted at the correct audience and worth while to advertise on. They had one of the longest ads on both shows. Clearly, they felt their adverising dollars were being well spent.

    If there is copyright protection on a product and said product is 'distributed' without the owners permission and the owner doesn't defend their copyright, then their copyright would essentially become ineffective to enforce their protection. They must defend their copyright to enforce their copyright. It would be difficult, although not impossible, for the shows to be distributed on-line for public viewing without the company being able to know the numbers. And even though these numbers do not count in the standard viewership manner, they count.

    The small number of people who may try to view the shows in some way which wouldn't count would be very insignificant. Say sharing it by e-mail or on private pass word protected sites. If they were caught trying to distribute the show while violating the copyright protection they would be breaking the law. If the owner of the copyright found this out, they would essentially be bound to protect their copyright. In most instances, seldom does the owner of the copyright sue right off the bat. The first step would be to inform the violator that they are distributing copyrighted material without proper permission and to remove said material & to no longer distribute said material. If it wouldn't be removed upon formal request, then the illegal distributor would likely be sued.

    The can not pick and choose where to defend their copyright to be able to hold on to their copyright.

  10. It was nice to see the 6 having fun,but am I the only mom who thinks it's so sad that they never have friends,cousins join them in having fun? It seems like they are so lonely, especially poor Mady and Cara, would have been nice to have had a couple of their friends join them,since they only have each other.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wow, thanks Baby Mama and ZiggyFlo! I was thinking along those lines, it just seemed logical that the shows viewed online are still being noticed and tracked.

    Anyway, I really enjoyed both of the shows from Sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  12. ZiggyFlo~ So right! I guess in my own mind I was hoping that people that view the episode elsewhere or not during the inital first airing of the show still counted and or should be counted because of the first night it airs. But that is impossible. Many of the hate sites would basically tell people do not watch it on the first night, because that's when it counts and they wouldn't want their views counted. My feeling was that every view from both EST & PST should be calculated as well as views other places. I wasn't sure it was just Nielsen who was such a small part handing out those numbers. Because in that case the auctual numbers would be much higher.

    Point being, they attack the show but they are STILL watching, and that's all that counts anyway..At least for Intel anyway! lol

    Either way I feel that I proved many peoples opinions true that none of us can figure out how they figure it out! lol

  13. Annastasia~ The party for the kids was given to them by Discovery Cove. Thats why no one was there. They had 2 big parties in their actual birthday that included friends and family. One during the day at their house and one with their father at his apartment at night.

    As far as friends being bought airfare sent down to FL, paid for hotel rooms, then free admission to a place thats not only pricey but has a 75-100 max. capasity during the day...well I dont think that was going to happen..lol ;) And as far as Cara & Mady, they should not have been sad given all that they were being given. It was more that the Tups were getting another party that was making the very normal jealousy issues to come out of both girls.

    ReplyDelete
  14. BM - excellent points, extremely valid points.

    These are young children. It is widely known that anyone who connects themselves with Kate in real life is promptly and viciously attacked by the on-line haters, even to the point of people being tracked down in real life. This isn't something Kate has brought about, this is a situation the haters have brought about. Also, the paps are always on stake out.

    If I were a mother, I would not let it be made public on TV that my child was a friend of one of the Gosselin children, for my own child's protection, because of the lengths the haters go to and the viciousness they go to & the paps. It wouldn't be an issue of my child being shown on the show, it would the the issue I have stated. The haters have kept a reign of fear around those who support Kate by their tactics.

    Yet the haters point out constantly that there are never any other children around. Just because friends are not shown on TV doesn't mean friends don't exist.

    More people are starting to speak out in defense of Kate, on-line supporters, her family, her friends, her co-workers. The more who speak out, the louder they speak out, the more determined they are they will hold together as a force in support of Kate, the more the hater's tactics and bullying is exposed, the less impact the haters will be able to have on Kate supporters.

    One thing to take notice of about the haters - even if they turn on each other, they hold together as a force against Kate. That is what has given them the past power they have had.

    The blogs also count. Companies read the blogs. Some savy companies have some whose job is it to do nothing but keep up with what's being said on the blogs and report it. If they can show their 'product' is getting a lot of blog attention, that also increases their ability to pull in big advertisers to the shows.

    I'm sure any of the blog owners will tell you if they have a stat counter on their blog, there are far, far, far more reading than posting. The postings are not even 1% of who is actually reading.

    The stat counters not only tell you how many come to your blog, they tell you how long they stayed, if they read more than one post, many stats. Companies know this, they know how blogs work and the impact they can have even if there doesn't seem to be many posting. The whole thing is a complicated science to the average person who is only used to ratings being determined by Nielsen.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Let me clarify, I didn't mean that last statement to sound snotty, but is sure did, my apologies!

    The standard ratings are still determeined essentially by the Nielsen ratings. But there is much more that goes into it today for the company's who produce shows to get good, top paying advertisers.

    TLC made a bundle off of the two shows on Sunday far above what just the ratings alone show. They were able to show potential advertisers other stats beyond the Nielsen ratings to draw so many and such high paying advertisers.

    I haven't had the time yet, but this evening I'm hoping to have the time to set down and do a full rewatch and break down of the advertisers as I stated I was going to do on my blog. I was blown away by the number of advertisers and the top paying advertisers there were.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I agree with BM, this was their 3rd party as a gift to them just because "WE" the viewers didnt see any friends "filmed" doesnt mean they didnt have friends over for their birthday. Also, when we go on vacations our kids dont get to take friends as that would get too pricey. Yes, Mady should have been grateful for what she was being given, my kids would give anything to go to Discovery Cove.
    ReplyDelete
  17. Kids, move outta the way, I want to go to Discovery Cove!!!
    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank youuu 4 uploading the videos :)
    ReplyDelete
  19. I also wonder if especially after all the Kevin and Jodie stink thar any friends who were filmed would have to get work permits and what a hassle that could be. Reading Kate's last book showed me how little time they spend filming and how much time they spend outside it. I love to see how happy the kids are filming. I also wonder if Mady didn't melt down as she did which is very much typical Mady style some people would say that the divorce left her deprssed or withdrawn. I think it's good that she is being herself eventhough it can be very irritating to adults involved.
    Linda I hope you are finally finished and can enjoy the rest of your trip I was thinking about what you said about thehelpers I remember being afraid to take three young children by myself to a pool or amusement park. It's different when they are staggered ages and some are old enough to help out
  21. Schmecky - Since you like the beach, just gotta tell you we just rolled into Sarasota and our first stop is Joe's Crab Shack on the beach. Can't eat the crab but ordered a big bucket of steamed giant Old Bay Peel and eat shrimp with stringy onions. Giant mojito just arrived. Chill time for this mama!!! Hubby is designated driver. Feelng no pain from those socket injections. Gotta live and dance tonight for tomorrow the pain will likely return. Ahh blast from the past. The whole place is doing the Macarena. Mostly college kids and Qtips and we fit in between, lol.
    ReplyDelete
  24. Mamaholly~ Great to see you, glad you reminded everyone that you can see it again RIGHT NOW ACTUALLY! (they flipped it this time and Inside Kate's World is first.)
    I WANT TO DISCUSS THIS.. The hate blogs are using Mady's meltdown at the Discovery Cove birthday party as a symbol for the new movement. The movement thats supposed to be for saving the kids that don't need saving. They feel that we should all take Mady's entitled fustration as a child crying out that doesn't want to be filmed. The quote was something like "I want to die!"
    Let me please start off by saying it's beyond sick that they would take a silly dramatic quote by a tired 9 year old as a "cry for help". Having a 9 year old myself makes me feel very entitled actually to speak up on this and start smacking some stupid troll behind!
    Please I hope no one else will continue to tirelessly drag this quote around. People like Irene and the rest of the protesters over at a Minor Consideration need to stop attacking this poor child and using her for your sick war rally for children rights. Kate did an amazing job (on camera no less) handling and trying to diffuse the situation of her child that was acting out. She is an incredible mother and far more patient than I could ever be. Attacking her parenting skills I take personally as I would have done the same thing, hense your insulting me. So take a step back before commenting and hurting these precious kids before I get my fangs out again.
    People like Paul Peterson took this family as his platform because it's a way to get his name in the game again. And while I need to stress for the millionth time that I am 100% for protecting kids, this quest for his 2nd wind of fame does not come with the best of intensions..Those that ride on his coattails like Irene and the hundreds like them don't realize that they are hurting these children by attacking them like this. Unfortunately, as long as the kids are on the show, they will continue to push their hurtful attacks on showcasing the childrens normal personalities as those that were created "because of the show". Leave Maddy alone psychos!
    ReplyDelete
  25. Well said Baby Mama. I dunno. I suspect that Mady has some low blood sugar problems from het actions and comparing to my own with similar problems. Mady is very capably speaking up for herself. She films when she wants to and DOESN'T when she does not want to. I think it I'd healthy that Mady voices her concerns. She doesn't bury things, she speaks up and it is so very very doggone normal that Kate doesn't hesitate to have cameras rolling.
    I don't know Irene except for a few posts here and by hearsay, so I don't know what to say. Oh and the blog that was up for a while on the real Irene something like that. I got an email so I went there. Apparently Some of Irene's kids were furious with her and some were saying she was no longer their mother. Whew pretty awful. They linked to their facebook pages that are mostly still up. This was December. I think she also mentioned some problems with her family on Z. I quit reading Z about then. Made me sorry for her at the time. ANY kids can have meltdowns whether big or small. I don't know if true or not (screen shots are on home computer.) Also I don't remember if it was kids from her first marriage or her second marriage.
    I'll never understand the hating. If they'd just stay on their corner of the universe it would be a happier world. You are going to find good and bad folks in any group, whether it's a church or whatever.
    It's kinda like making a big brouhaha over Kate's parents, who btw do not have anything to do with Kevin&Jodie either according to Kevin in the ROL interview.
    Get a life!!!
    ReplyDelete
  26. Let me tell ya something, I also have a 9 year old daughter and she acts the EXACT same way as Mady. She will grow out of it and she doesn't need therapy or blah, blah, blah...Haters need to MOVE ON......................
    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow, on a non-related note I am craving a Sunny-D right now! They keep advertising it on the show and as I run around this evening I wish I had one. I used to love drinking those as a kid! I also love Martina McBride..
    Now that I say this the trolls will sadly have to add that yummy drink to the list of things they are boycotting AGAIN..lol
    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks, Linda, I realize they are only going to believe what they want. I've no interest in trying to change their minds - my interest is for the media to be aware that there are those who do support Kate, for the media to not take one viewpoint as the overwhelming majority view of Kate. For the media to start looking at what these hate blogs are really about and for the media to start giving Kate the good press she deserves.
    BM - spot on regarding Petersen. Am not one bit surprised they've taken this with Maddy and are trying to run with it.
  30. Linda - I hope you are having a great time and relaxing. When you mentioned Sarasota and Joe's crab shack it reminded me of when my kids were little and we went with my MOM & Dad to Florida for 6 weeks. What a great trip that was! We stayed at Siesta Key in a campgrounds right on the ocean with the white sand beaches. Right across the highway was Joe's Crab Shack and I brought home a shirt saying I got the crab's at Joe's.
    One night we went and got buckets of oysters steamed, and pitchers of beer. Great time had by all. That was the same trip when we camped at Disney World for three days.
    Back then my Dad was pulling a 23 ft. trailer and it wasn't like camping at all. On the travel channel they had a show about the top ten beaches in Florida, and the white sand beaches of Siesta Key were #1. I have great memories, pictures and stories that I can share with my kids now. They were only 3 and 5 at the time.
    I wish you well and hope you are enjoying the rest of your trip!
    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, I forgot to state that Siesta Key is just North of Sarasota by about 50 Miles or so. I think?
    ReplyDelete
  32. Caregiver - Thanks. This part of trip definitely better than at Mayo, thanks. Siesta Key is great. I love all the Florida beaches both Gulf and Atlantic sides. I like Siesta Key also. In Florida, we lived about 3 hours south on the Gulf side also.
  33. Hello Baby Mama! I know it’s been a long time since I have commented on your blog, or any Gosselin related blog for that matter, but I have kept up with what has been going on in the Gosselin world, but really how can anyone not know what has been going on?.
    I watched both episodes and LOVED THEM. The kids are as cute as ever and once again, Kate showed us all what an amazing woman she is. I can almost understand why people who are insecure, unaccomplished and have empty lives dislike you her so much.
    What I have always worried about the most, is the impact that all the negativity being written about Jon & Kate will have on those kids. I recently watched the Oprah interview with Mrs. Bush and her daughters, and they brought up a letter of advice that they wrote to the Obama girls. I feel that their advice applies to any child of a public figure, in this case the Gosselin kids.
    Here is an excerpt from their letter published on The Wall Street Journal:
    "He is our father, not the sketch in a paper or part of a skit on TV. Many people will think they know him, but they have no idea how he felt the day you were born, the pride he felt on your first day of school, or how much you both love being his daughters. So here is our most important piece of advice: Remember who your dad really is."
    So Gosselin Kids, YOU and only YOU know who your parents really are…
    Baby Mama, your site looks great! Keep up the good work…
    PS – I did not send you that email… It was spam.
    Linda~the logo you sent is great, but it's slightly fuzzier that the other one. Is it supposed to be that way? Because it's easier to download? Will change it tonight.
    ReplyDelete
  35. It's slightly fuzzier because it's 72dpi not 300dpi. It will load so much faster I suggest you try it. If people don't like it they'll let you know, lol. The photo was already 72dpi so essentially just changing text.
  36. Ziggy Flo - re wanting to go to Discovery Cove - I've never been there. We have been to another dolphin swim at Key Largo. It was so much fun. All if their dolphins are "rescue" from boating accidents, etc. You are warned that you swim with them and they may or may not interact with you on any given day. There were a couple of the dolphins that constantly interacted with our kids. Because dolphins can tell if you are pregnant or have metal implants, those folks have to swim at designated times. The dolphins will ignore everybody else and just cluster around them. So I had to go alone but it was awesome. They click and whistle and then nudge you with their top fin and want to pull you along.
    Again, these were rescue dolphins that were unable to be re/introduced back to the ocean. Some had second injuries and some returned every time they opened the gates.
    EXCLUSIVE: Jon Gosselin Borrowed $88,000 From Hailey Glassman To Pay Kate -- See The Check! RADARONLINE.COM Posted on Jun 10, 2010 @ 10:05AM
    _________________________________________________
    Jon Gosselin had better get a job, and fast. The former reality star still owes a lot of people a lot of money and one of them is his ex-girlfriend Hailey Glassman! Glassman has been tweeting for months that Jon owes her hundreds of thousands of dollars. She says she loaned him the money when they were dating. RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained a copy of a check that Hailey had drawn up by Citibank on October 13, 2009, in the amount of $88,000. The money, listed on the check as a “loan,” allegedly was to help Jon pay back his ex-wife Kate. It was all part of the controversy when Jon took money out of a joint bank account and a judge ordered him to put it back.
    And RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained text messages sent later from Jon to Hailey, saying he doesn’t have the money to pay her back! “This was back when Kate was accusing Jon of emptying their bank account. A judge ordered Jon to pay her back the money and he didn’t have it, so Hailey loaned him the money,” a source close to Hailey told RadarOnline.com exclusively.
    In October 2009, Kate accused Jon of taking $230,000 out of their bank account, leaving her with just $1,000 to pay the bills and care for their eight kids. Until that point, Jon had been living a public life of paid appearances and luxurious vacations. But then TLC sued Jon for breach of contract and the former reality star found himself not only without a paycheck but unable to make any money off of his Jon & Kate Plus 8 fame.
    In October, Jon and Kate met with an arbitrator behind closed doors to discuss the missing money and Jon was ordered to put the money back immediately. That’s when Hailey says she gave him the loan and when she finally asked to be paid back, Jon couldn’t pay.
    In text messages obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, Hailey texted Jon on Dec. 16: “I’m done. U owe me money. I’m done with ur abuse. U say ur done? I’m done. There’s nothing to discuss. U can call Robbie [Hailey’s uncle] to explain ur bulls***.”Jon then texts Hailey back with “don’t have the finances, sorry. Already explained it to Robbie.”
  43. Linda,
    Saw the neatness thing on tv today.
    It was about a dolphin who had lost his back fin (sorry, I don't know the correct term for it) due to an infection.
    They made him a prosthesis because he couldn't swim well and was getting too fat.
    It worked and he again swam like a true dolpin.
    I think it was on The Science Channel between about 12pm and 2 pm.
    My kids would've so loved Discovery Cove when they were little.
    ReplyDelete
  44. My youngest and last child's last day of kindergarten was last week and I was SOOO SAD :(
    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks for the breakdown, Ziggy Flo. Ahhh, now are you saying those h people are going to boycott any advertiser who advertises on K+8 etc??!
    Oh joy, to see all those h computers with intel processors shut down! That's too funny for words. I guess if we see a sudden surge in iPhones and iPads we'll know it was due to them. Yeah right.
    ReplyDelete
  46. Baby Mama, thanks for posting the clips from Kate's portion. Much appreciated.
  47. Nope, Linda, AT&T was an advertiser! Is the 'i' stuff on Verizon yet?
    ReplyDelete
  48. Linda, It gets even better:
    http://texyt.com/iphone+manufacturer+supplier+assembler+not+apple+00113
    I knew Mac's were powered by Intel now but I didn't know about any other 'i' stuff.
    ReplyDelete
  49. Ziggy Flo - you are right about Macs; new ones have dual core processors and one is Intel. You can run it as a Mac or as a PC. That's why I mentioned opines and iPads. No, not available on Verizon unless you hack your iPhone and that voids warranty. More likely to be T-Mobile before Verizon.
    ReplyDelete
  50. Ziggy Flo - sbcglobal.net is an AT&T subsidiary so guess that kills that also.
    ReplyDelete
  51. Grrr can't type, lol. Was trying to type iPhones and typed opines.
    ReplyDelete
  52. its about time someone took a little care to teach the children some table manners
    ReplyDelete
  53. Over The Hill - I checked out your blog and you have no followers yet, why is that? Your kitchen pictures look like they could be K&Js' old kitchen. Is it?
    The children all want to talk at the table, that is normal behavior especially in large families. It may make it sound too loud, but the dinner table is where family conversation should be and it makes for great opportunities to have discussions. For their age, I think their manners are OK!
    ReplyDelete
  54. JW - They are not in highchairs, those are booster chairs. Since they are short kids, it puts them at a perfect height for eating their meals.
    ReplyDelete
  55. UGH...It is my biggest pet peeve when people come on here and rattle on and on about the kids and their bibs, or high chairs or table manners. WHO CARES!! They are not our kids and Kate can do what she wants with them. That gets soooo annoying and it really bugs me.
    ReplyDelete
  56. my2girls - sorry if I bugged you! I felt the need to stick up for the kids.
    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with you my2girls and it makes me wonder how these other people raise their kids. If they are this controlling about other peoples' children imagine how they run their own childrens lives... if they have any. I have too much in my own house to worry what chair someone else's child is using. Bizarre.
    ReplyDelete
  58. #1caregiver - I liked your response about the chairs. I think they are a great idea. What a wonderful way to bring all the kids to the table.
    ReplyDelete
  59. Ziggy Flo, thanks for all of the information! It is nice to think that by people watching the shows even at a later time or an YouTube, that their views are still counted for something positive toward the show!
    ReplyDelete
  60. #1caregiver~ Not you....I am so sorry, you didn't bug me, you helped the case! JustWondering and overthehill did. I hate when haters come here...it pisses me off.
    ReplyDelete
  61. Mary Beth~ We don't want you. Go back to your hole with the RWA crazies. Seriously, you are pathetic and a joke. Overthehill gave herself the perfect name and needs to go crawl back under a rock with JW. Who obviously can't get enough of the police watching her. Why are you so obsessed with my site? Everyone just laughs at you for your desperation to post here.
    I do love the fact that these people live and breathe this site. I am truly honored and touched. My ego is through the roof right now. That I am soo popular blogs are dedicated to talking about me ;)
    ZiggyFlo~ They know where their advertising dollars are best spent. And it's eating the haters (ticks,lovebugs) up. Did we get any other entries? I can't do either of those sorry!
    ReplyDelete
  62. The fact that they continue to post here shows that it's gone beyond not liking the Gosselin family and more about finding some one to direct their hate at. I personally feel sorry for them or should I feel jealous that they have all this time on their hands? What am I thinking spending time with my family instead of trying to harass some one I don't even know??? Silly me. :)
    ReplyDelete
  63. Probably at her table, no one is interested enough in each other to bother to talk.
    Oh, was that snarky? I so sorry BM, I don't know what came over me!
    ReplyDelete
  64. haha you are too funny Ziggy! Yeah I don't get that at all..There are so many other places to join the "stupid", but sometimes they wish they could enjoy the "sane"!
    Our awesome commenter Hope e-mailed me and says hi to everyone! Shes very busy with an amazing new job that requires those long hours. I love hearing great success stories about hard work and amazing jobs! I hope someday I could be on that list! Everyone can snark on Kate all they want, but shes making that money for her family!
    Linda~ sending loving thoughts that you are feeling ok today. Will text you later..
  65. JW doesn’t really care about abused children. If she did, she’d be doing something in her own backyard, so to speak. There were more than 800 new cases of child abuse reported in her own county in May alone! It’s on the rise across the nation and those who care, work to do something about it. Caring people work in their own hometowns and home counties to try to help others. These are real, live abused children. Children who live right there in her county that she could try to help! Does she do that?
    Nope, she’d rather worry about the chair height at the table of somebody she doesn’t even know. What? She’d rather they be uncomfortable sitting at a table! Then she could say, “well look they have to sit on chairs too short.” Is this somebody who cares, or somebody who’s truly an idiot?
    JW, you like to Google so much. Try this: “Number of abused children in ______” and fill in your city or your county. Once you get the hits, go and read. Then get off your complaining butt and do something good! You profess to be so knowledgeable about social work so get out there and help people who NEED your help. Whine, whine...yeah we all know how good you are at that. Why not actually do something GOOD for a change. Those folks in your own area need your help! The Gosselin kids are loved, well-fed, well cared for, and the LAST thing they need is your pretend help which is in reality nothing more than a way to direct your hate.
  66. Off on the road again, catch you all later! Hugs
  67. Linda,
    Thanks for your very witty sonnet about JW and her "ilk", it was great and put a smile on my face! Whenever someone like her pops up I always imagine them with horns and pitchfork in hand!
    Anyway, I'm heading out of town to watch my oldest "baby" graduate college. Seems like just yesterday she also graduated kindergarten, too! (sigh)
  68. I agree with Ziggy way up there, with the comment about Kate deserving of the positive press. The negative stuff has spread like a virus if you will, People Magazine and other media outlets for example, post a Gosselin related story and receive 1,000-2,000 comments. Many of those being hateful comments. When typical posts can range from a mere 20 to a whopping 500 comments. So it's just everywhere and the negative stuff gets glorified it seems.
    I feel like the more we can do an fans to support Kate it may turn in the opposite direction for 2010. Look at DWTS, Kate has ALOT of fans if that wasn't true and all the other hype was true she would have been gone the first elimination hands down. I dunno just my 2 cents.
    I also agree with BM regarding Mady..my goodness. There is nothing pure of these individuals intentions, and I find their credibility to be unstable.
  69. GosselinGarb~ I swear your site is ROCKIN! I really love it, I check it every day now..Im so happy to have you back! xoxox
    aww Lucysmom~ that is so sweet! I wish you the best and pray for sunny nice weather for you. Its overcast here but at least its not hot.
    Radar just sent me parts 1 of 3 of the Jon Gosselin videos from San Tropez last year. Meanwhile people e-mailed me that days ago. WTH? I get stuff from my readers before Radar even sends it to me. Today they have a post called "Kate flaunts her body" Which really pissed me off because she was not flaunting anything. The paps just got a shot of her bending down and they were gawking at her breasts. I mean really, they are absolute pigs those guys.
    So of course instead of the haters noticing that she is enjoying a wonderful day dedicated to her kids, they will be bitching about a photos of her amazing REAL breasts. TRUST.
  70. Opps Teresa I forgot to add that I tried to put up the link with the pic you sent me for your site & a bit was still cut off. I tried to fix it but I'm not that savvy. Still working on it though.
    ReplyDelete
  71. Linda, you rock! Glad your on your way home & got to have a little bit of fun on your trip.
    A special thanks to all the mom's who shared their experiences with dramatic children with big personalities....you've given me hope that yes this too shall pass, with my own. But hey Tashapork...you mean you got a break with yours at age ten? I did not get that lucky...we've gone right into the tween hormone drama phase. *sighs* I keep telling her that when she wins her Acadamy Award, I hope she does not forget to thank me for helping her perfect her art;0
    ReplyDelete
  72. Speaking of big personalities...I think of all the G children Mady just could be the one who may have a career in the arts. She lit up the screen during her interview. She really has a knack for dramatic flair! Her interview was priceless, I bet she aces public speaking at school. She's a natural in front of the camera, her smile is infectious & is just an over all cutie patootie!(all the kids are cuties, but I have a soft spot for Mady)
    Mady Gosselin, you are a bright & shining star! Perfect, just the way you are!
    ReplyDelete
  73. Momsby~ you are so true, she will be a star! She does really well when she does the interviews. And she obviously wants to express herself. Its really great hearing the kids talk about their expierences!
    ReplyDelete
  74. Momsby I agree! I have always thought she would be an awesome Nick/Disney star :)
    ~Thank you Baby Mama! That is so sweet I am having lots of fun putting the ever changing looks together, and the emails everyone sends me are soooooooooooo appreciated! Many posts have been with the help of other fans.
    I personally am loving the peace, love world designs, hoping to get a couple of things for myself from there very soon, I love their message very cool.
    Also I don't know if this will help regarding the link you were talking about a few posts ago but "Rich Text" is your friend when it comes to resizing on the sidebar, only when you are using Html/javascript though. You hit Rich Text and a blue outline appears from there around your pic, you shrink to fit until you have what you want.
  75. Oh NO, BMama..you said the S word! Would you believe, I still have not unpacked my Scrapping stuff? I'm SOOOOOOO behind, yet I still keep buying stuff, it's become my weakness. Thankfully, I can't shop locally. I still trying to find a nook to call my own, I've really missed the creative aspect. That's it you've inspired me..now where did I put that mojo? First things first I must claim a spot that will be kid free & where the mess won't drive my husband nuts.
    ReplyDelete
  76. I love your poetry Linda even though my iPhone wanted to call it potty LOL you remind me of me always wanting to keep my mind busy. I hope you start to feel better as you get home and possibly get a chance to relax.
    I am amazed with the things people come up with to complain about. You can take any given thing and turn it into a negative. For example Kate makes the kids sit in high chairs or if she didn't it would be "those kids look soo uncomfortable in those big hard chairs. I personally think it is really awesome that she and Jon were able to be creative and find something that works for them.
    Ziggy I loved your blog about the ads. I tried to comment on it and my computer and Internet was acting up. I get farther on this little phone sometimes but I still haven't figured out copy and paste on it. Kate is also a walking advertisement
    for iPhone. In fact I kind of wonder if tlc has some sort of deal going with Apple or AT&T since every one of the tlc families seem to have them including the Duggars who are very frugal. They didnt have them before
    ReplyDelete
  77. Momsby~OMG you are so talking to the scrapping Queen. I'm not home now, but today I took over the tiny office, cleaned it and put all my stuff in it. I love all the great books I have done. I love my new scarp nook! So do my kids, they love to look at them. I used to pay money 2x a month to go somewhere, but I bought the Cricut so now I try to do it at home. Its impossible. Im mad for paying that money. The only time I get anythingt done is when I'm out. You really have to have disipline. Thats why I love being with other mommies, they give you so much mojo and its so fun! Were all about the same age, and love sharing equiptment with each other. Some moms with $$$ have the collest stuff.
    Its hard to do it at home, unless its at night. One a month now we have a group of 6 six girls rotate houses/apts and its so much fun! Let me know I have some great scrabooking sites. Ebay is always an option as well.
    ReplyDelete
  78. Hey. I'm a scrapper also. I don't get to it often but love doing it. My kids want to help and put in their 2 cents though. I have a Cricut I got for Christmas two years ago. I've never used it enough to know a whole lot about it though, lol.
    Thanks all for kind thoughts. It will be a rough summer but things will be better then. At least I hope!
    ReplyDelete
  79. My apologies to all. I'm just sick and tired of anybody having to put up with bullies. I'm determined that nobody should have to endure it. It took strong women standing up for others to get shelters set up for women experiencing abuse. It's going to take strong women standing up to bullies. Now, can we talk about something nice again?
    I adore Mady. I'm sorry that she gets jealous from time to time. I'm proud of her for being able to voice her feelings. How wonderful that she has a strong and loving mother who sits down to discuss it calmly.
    IMO, Miss Mady will be a credit in so many ways. I agree with you Momsby and I think Tashapork and others. I could see her breezing through journalism school and cruising into many on camera jobs. Or being president of her own company. I don't think she'd tolerate a bully even at her age. Go Mady!
    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't like when the haters claim they are doing all this "hate for Kate" to somehow "save" the kids yet all they are doing is hurting them. No one should be attacking these children like that it's sick. Even GWOP doesnt allow that. But you go to the other crazies and they are saying all these horrible things saying what she will grow up to be. How any parent allows themselves to talk like that shows how mental they are.
    Kate said once that Mady will grow up to be President. I do'nt doubt that for a minute!
    ReplyDelete
  81. The bullying, rude, thoughtless comments about the kids brings out the momzilla in me! I think it's a disgusting thing for an adult to do! What a horrible example to set for your children. Those who don't have any kids or forget what it's like seriously get a life.MV was also one of my fav parts of the show.! I really do not think it's the Gosselin kids who need to learn manners, it's some of the adults who post about them. Sorry Linda I just can't bring myself to call them lovebugs..that's what I call one of my girls :( I did not know they were nasty bugs(lol)
    ReplyDelete
  82. Baby Mama I sent you an email.
    Linda I will support you all the way....if I need to sign anything point me in the direction. I am so sick of these people.
    ReplyDelete
  83. momsby - lol. I called my kids "my little love bugs" until I moved to FL and found out what lovebugs really were. Never again. Those are nasty, vile critters that can ruin the paint on your car with their acid.
  84. CraftyMomof3~ Got your message xoxox
    Could everyone tell me if it takes awhile to upload my site. Will be changing things hopefully tomorrow since I'm not able to tonight. Hopefully this will get you all on quicker.. Funny on those weekends when Kate is home enjoying time with her kids, no one mentions it on any sites. All I seem to see are articles with more close-ups of Kates breasts..
    ReplyDelete
  85. Wow Baby Mama! WTG. Almost another 100,000 hits since you hit the big numbers on the revised site. Quite an accomplishment.
    ReplyDelete
  86. Baby Mama - you've got errors on top right of blog, at least for me. Says Google error. Where the surveys were?
    ReplyDelete
  87. Weird - looks just fine now. Must have been a glitch.
    ReplyDelete
  88. Congrats on the move CraftyMom..although I'm sure the unpacking has just begun. My husband made a joke about considering a transfer way up North...like fly a plane in & out up North. At least he said it was a joke, when my eyes welled up & I said but we were never going to move again, remember? I've only gotten one room redone, it was a big job, but I'm in no rush. Just think once your done, you can enjoy the summer. Looking forward to your next craft post at IW.
    Linda as always if there is anyway I can help you let me know. BM has my e-mail if you need it.
    BM..I'd love some of the scrapbook sites. Oh, I forgot to tell you. I FINALLY scored some Chex...We think that Life & Crispex would be a good substitute for when we don't have Chex. The first batch lasted exactly 3 hrs..my 3yo had a playdate & we made it. Then a pack of 12 yo girls devoured it. Does anyone else have like up to 5 or 6 or more kids swarm their house after school?
    ReplyDelete
  89. Linda~ I'm not getting that. Try re-freshing it and let me know what happens. Thanks for the e-mail. We will talk more tomorrow ;)
    Momsby~ See it's hard for me b/c I work part time and then theres Girl Scouts, Orchestra, Religion, Soccer etc. so I don't normally have playdates during the week. The kids get upset about that though. I really should have some kids over more. Glad to hear you finally got some Chex! I really want to do the Monkey Munch but don't have ingredients.
  90. Thanks momsby! We are actually in limbo right now staying at my Mom's until we can find a suitable house instead of just jumping into to a crappy one like we did last time! :)
    I actually just submitted a Father's Day one to Anya. I am going to try and get a 4th of July one done this weekend.
    Any requests? There are so many I've had a hard time narrowing it down.
    ReplyDelete
  91. Ahh, the dreaded limbo...we had to stay at my mom's for 3 week before we took possesion. We had are stuff stored at 3 different locations. I still can't find half my gardening tools & outdoor decorations. A father's day craft would be awsome, I'll be looking for it. My kids like finding things outside to craft with. How about one for a summer birthday party (hint, hint I have 3 summer birthday party's coming up)
    ReplyDelete
  92. ooohhh that's a good one. Thanks for the suggestion!
    Yeah we are probably here for at least for the summer. This moved killed me! I think I need a break before we try again. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  93. momsby if you want a head start go to my crafty life blog. I have two cute one's posted. Click through one of my posts at IW.
  94. BM..
    One of the few perks of having a husband work shifts is that often his days off are during the week. He is becoming a very good errand boy/child runner. I think sometimes he just wants to get away from the noise. We run around lots in the winter with activities, but in the summer it's usually one sport & swimming. My 3yo is just starting T-ball & my almost 21mth old wants to play in the worst way. Hope she's as keen for their swim lessons or I forsee a big challenge. Honestly, I don't think I could do it all if I was working...I have so much respect for those of you who can. I'm sure I'll be having to cut back on all the guests when I go back to work.
    ReplyDelete
  95. CraftyMom, momsby, and Baby Mama - you've inspired me. Time to get busy on the scrapping. I'd gotten as far as keeping photos sorted into their neat little categories in their storage bins. Just gotta get the cover off the Cricut and load those carts, lol. Don't have so many if those. I hunt for the sales. Thanks for motivation.
    ReplyDelete
  96. babymama i am not a hater of those dear children or their parents.
    also i do not think its the childrens fault re. table manners.parents set an example as to what is acceptable so i am sorry that i posted that remark.
    ReplyDelete
  97. overthehill - TY for saying that. Some might be bothered. I commend Kate for insisting on a blessing before the meal. Sometimes our meals are noisy. We try to teach talking to person to left and right and not to those at end of table but doesn't always work. If they aren't arguing, I consider it a plus. Sometimes people speak out in frustration. IMO it takes a big person to clarify or apologize.
    ReplyDelete
  98. overthehill~ I am sorry if I came to the conclusion that you were part of that attack on the site. I thought you came in with that person that has ben harassing me and my readers for so long.
    You have every right to post here and state your opinions as long as you do not attack Kate, the kids, or anyone on this site. This is a fan site. There are other places for your views if that is the case. You dont have to love Kate Gosselin to post here, but you need to be respectful. Thanks, and again I'm sorry the coincidence of you both posting at the same time clouded my judgement of who you were ;)
    ReplyDelete
  99. Overthehill..
    I'm happy to hear you say that, I think it's because some people seem to go to extremes looking for things to criticise the kids for in their dislike for Kate. I know I can be very defensive, when they involve the kids. Especially, when I feel that they are kids being kids. So the camera caught a few of them chewing with their mouths open or being a little silly. They were excited, with the return of the crew, a visit with Jamie and a potential adventure. Just like any other children would be, now if they were running around poking each other with a knife or having a food fight, I would understand your concerns.
    ReplyDelete
  100. Crafty Mom..Yay, I did not realise you had your own site!
    Linda & BM..I have a few younger friends who are new moms. For some reason they often ask me for parenting tips. I always say one of the most important things is to remember yourself, do things you enjoy. Sometimes, I forget my own advice(don't we all?) The next time the girls are getting together to scrap, I'm there! It's something I enjoy & way to often lately I've been too busy to go. I've made a pact with myself, first I'm claiming a spot to craft (no toys allowed) & if I start to get things accomplished & make a dent in my many supplies..a cricut is going back on my Christmas wish list. I was going to ask for one for my birthday, but I was practical & got a patio set instead. Now, if I could just get this excited about jogging....
    ReplyDelete
  101. Momsby~Crafty Mom's Site is amazing. I highly recommend those that love all things realted to enjoying all types of crafting to stop by. I always get jealous of other people's amazing talents!
    Mostly, I need to force myself to make time for the things I love to do. And not pay money every week to go somewhere else! I must focus, step away from the computer! lol and get my creative juices flowing again. I have a love of many crafty things, and seeing your site makes me want to sit down right now and get creative!
  103. Do you guys know that you can switch out peanut butter for nutella in monkey munch? Try it!
    ReplyDelete
  104. wildchild~ does that actually taste good? My kids got a bit freaked when I brought that home. I told them it was chocolate. Once the tried it I got yelled at for being a liar. It has a bit of a funky aftertaste no? When you use it in the Monkey Munch do you see a difference? Because if it's not a big change then I am using Nutella! Does that make it healthier then? lol
    ReplyDelete
  105. Awww shucks guys ((blush))thanks! :) I guess I'll have to add some scrappin' stuff to my site now for y'all.
    On a Gosselin note...I just watched Inside Kate again and how cute is little Aedan? Alexis reminds me sooo much of my 3 year old.
    ReplyDelete
  106. Nutella is pretty good, but kids have issues with changes to their regular routine. It's why a lot of them don't like made from scratch macaroni and cheese or eggrolls made at home. Sometimes, if you use it in something different or even call it something different they may be okay with it. It depends on the kids. I remember when Breana was little, she wouldn't eat hamburger meat, but she would eat tacos made of said ingredient if we called it Colorado sausage and she refused to eat pork, but she would eat pork ribs lathered in barbeque sauce since we called them Texas Roadhouse Ribs and not pork ribs. All this talk of food is reminding me that I should make some hummus. I have been meaning to since we got back, I even bought the garbanzo beans.
    ReplyDelete
  107. Baby Mama - Maybe you should post the link to CraftyMom's site. :)
    ReplyDelete
  108. Linda~ I will do that right now! Crafty is my girl and needs to showcase her gifts! And in honor of this, FRESH PAPER! The scent is barbeque though, in honor of the weekend.. So take a whiff of the grill for the lovely aroma of grilled steaks, hamburgers & hotdogs..Vegetarian? Then take a whiff of the yummy salads I have alolng with a few tofu burgers just for you! LOL
