Kate and The Twins On The Cover of People, Kate's Today Show Interview

For the record, I feel terrible that Kate is once again being attacked for her daughters having a case of stage fright. It disguts me that it awakened the last of the hate sites to write some horrible things about Kate in her children. I hope that you share your thoughts in the comments section....

TODAY.COM Determined to clarify what she calls “inaccuracies” about her and her children, Kate Gosselin wants the world to know her family is doing fine, but the effort took a strange turn when her daughters clammed up on live TV.
The former star of “Jon & Kate + Eight” appeared on TODAY with her 13-year-old twins Cara and Mady on Thursday to show they’re normal teens who haven’t been hurt by the drama of the reality TV show and her stormy relationship with her ex-husband.
“They get really frustrated that people assume certain things in our house and they always say, ‘But that’s not how it is, mommy. Why do they say that about us?’” Gosselin said.
“They’re just really regular, every day, awesome teenagers.”

The segment started awkwardly with the girls not answering questions posed by TODAY's Savannah Guthrie and instead just looking at their mother and each other.
Kate Gosselin prompted them to speak, saying, "It's your chance, spit it out." She and the girls were recently featured on the cover of People magazine as part of her campaign to show the kids are doing well.
"This is the most wordless I've heard them all morning," Kate said. "I don't want to speak for them but, Mady, go ahead. Sort of the things that you said in (People) magazine, that years later they're good, they're fine. Go for it, it's your chance."
"No," Mady replied, smiling. "You just said it."
They were tongue tied for most of the interview and let Gosselin do the talking, though Mady did speak up when asked whether people have the wrong impression of her and her family.
“I wouldn’t say wrong. I would just say not the full story,” Mady said. “A lot of people think that filming our show has damaged us, but it’s only really helped.”
Both girls said they would want to be part of another TV show.
After the TODAY interview, Kate tweeted:

Thanks to for having Cara, Mady and me on the show today! 1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless :)

In October, Jon Gosselin told OWN his children have developmental problems that have led to issues with their peers and talking to other people. He added they have problems with "wants and needs and manners and morals."
The Gosselins became stars in 2007 when they allowed TLC to film their large family, which included the twins and sextuplets. The couple divorced in 2009.
Kate Gosselin referenced Jon's comments on TODAY, saying the twins are "aware of what is out there, the inaccuracies, things that are said by the general public , their father, whoever ... their friends talk about it at school. So I sort of am forced to kind of inform them."
Jon Gosselin recently revealed he had a vasectomy to make sure he wouldn't have any more children. He said he doesn't talk with his ex-wife.

  1. I was so proud of those girls. They haven't been on a stage like that since they were preschoolers so of course they would be shy. I do feel that the interview could have been conducted in a way that would make them relax and open up. I did see Maddy's face light up when they talked about filming.
Jon, Jon, Jon I am still trying to process the mess that is Couples therapy.

  2. I am retired after 45 years in the workforce. I still freeze when in front of a crowd. I do great in small groups or one on one so I didn't expect to see either one of the twins as being chatty this morning. I think in time Mady would be able to open up. Cara has always been the quiet one and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I also remember how nervous Kate was when she first started doing interviews and how much more relaxed she is now. So I wasn't disappointed with their first live interview. Do I wish they had opened up and said more? Yes but I do know what it's like the first time in front of strangers.

  3. I refuse to watch Couples Theraphy. Not into watching staged trainwrecks and therefore am not into anything that involves Jon Gosselin himself.

  4. I wish I could see a full clip of them on the View. I guess that interview went a lot better. The hosts did a better job of structuring the conversation and making everyone feel comfortable

  5. The View interview went a lot better. The girls seemed like they had a lot of fun and everyone was laughing. I felt for the girls on the today show. Typically when working with kids you do a run through of the interview. They are highly unpredictable and then you can help them focus on key sound bites. The interviewer on the today show either didn't want to do the interview or was inexperienced. I'd hate to see her interview someone important, the interview would only last a few minutes.

But, it served its purpose for Jon and the khaters. Now Jon can only hope that a camera will show up the next time he is at Walmart with the younger kids. That is why he takes them everywhere isn't it? So he can sell more pictures to the media.

  6. I almost wonder if the Today show interview was done like this on purpose in order to get ratings by making Kate look bad. They may have assumed also that the kids were more interview savvy than they were.

  7. So good to see that Maddy and Cara were much more relaxed on The View. Especially Maddy, she was much more talkative and animated. Cara was more relaxed, too. Being quiet and shy is just her nature. They are each different in personality. The View ladies helped them immensely. The talk show circuit will do them both good in that it will build confidence in them and also so they learn to speak for themselves instead of their parents doing it for them all the time, esp. bitter, angry and very jealous Jon. As far as Jon threatening to sue for primary custody of the six, any judge worth their salt will deny him when there's absolutely no evidence that Kate should or needs to hand over primary custody over to him.

  8. Hello everyone! I just got a chance for the first time tonight to Watch Couples Therapy on VH1. Might I say I was glued to my seat and say that ti's already day 11 for them and I missed most of it. Looks like Jon will be in the hot seat about his real intentions of his relationship so I hope you all tune in. I share my thoughts in a new post and I hope that you will stop on by for some fresh papaer and share your feelings as well xoBM
