The Sport Of Bashing Kate Gosselin: Walletpop.com
I decided to change the title of this article because I found it a bit offensive. But the core of the article is what is important....
"It's hard to miss the barely-concealed glee that underlies the reporting. Over the past few months, bashing Kate Gosselin has become a popular sport in America. Pundits have endlessly attacked her weight, her behavior, her child-rearing, and her hairstyle, until it seems that Kate isn't so much a person as the heart of a cottage industry in verbal brutality."
"In a culture that downplays masculine worthiness and demands perfection from children, most moms probably feel a pressure to become Kate. The problem is, however, that many of these assertions are fundamentally wrong. Parents don't have to be perfect. Men aren't completely useless. Children and their caregivers are allowed to just have fun. Until these simple truths regain cultural relevance, however, Kate Gosselin will be a realistic -- if perhaps slightly outsized -- depiction of the genuine problems facing every mom."

That Jon spoof is very funny, at first I thought that guy was Jon lol.
ReplyDeleteNice. No time for even mourning the loss of a marriage. A sacred vow, a promise of 'for better or for worse'... he doesn't even let the ink dry, heck has a pen even be used just yet. Sorry if I'm out of the loop, been out of cyberland too lately.
ReplyDeleteI don't want anyone to be mad that I posted it. It's just that I have been accused of taking things way too serious on my blog. And It's a fan site and I should. However in light of Jons actions recently I took the time to poke fun of him. I'm allowed, it was funny. Now back to all seriousness, the man better get his act together! (lol)
ReplyDeleteBaby Mama -- I'm glad you posted the video -- it was hilarious! I'd even laugh if they did one for Kate (assuming it is appropriate, and in good fun like this one was). Also--thanks for all the time you put into this site! It's much appreciated :)
ReplyDeletethe Jon SPOOF really cracked me up....and you know what, it was done in good fun.....
ReplyDeleteROTFL...That was sooo funny!! I think we all needed the laugh for a nice change.
ReplyDeleteOh I loved it! That was funny!! Thanks for posting.. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks... that was very funny! A lighter take to this whole mess. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July to everyone! Be safe, have fun and remember how fortunate we are to live in this great country!
ReplyDeleteYes! With all the chaos going on at my home this week, I forgot to mention to everyone Happy 4th Of July. May you enjoy it with your loved ones!
ReplyDeleteHopefully Jon & Kate will do the same!!
HAHA that vid was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th Baby Mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just Jared ahs the pics. They both spent 4th of July with the kids (TOGETHER). This is a good sign, and I hope they can continue this for other holidays and birthdays.

ReplyDeleteThere's the link that shows them having a 4th of July picnic together with the kids.
I really hope at one point we can see them either in pictures or in new episodes on tv being friendly to one another and sharing a laugh or at least a smile...this all makes me so sad.
LOL!! Very funny video clip! Almost as funny as DavidandLivy's comment above. lol.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of us have been out of the loop lately. The Summer is always a very busy time for most, and not everyone can keep up with all the gossip like we do (lol). But I completely understand those fustrations some have over what Jon did/didn't do and the state of this once "dedicated" family and marriage.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that the fans would LOVE to see more footage of them as we like to see them, and that's as a family. Heck were all so desperate I would love for them to share a laugh as well! This is a big step in the right direction IMO.
Monday night without Jon and Kate? =(
ReplyDeleteBaby Mama:
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong but I thought that DaveandLivy thought Jon really was on match.com. Maybe I misunderstood their comment.
Okay, is it just me or is the Michael Jackson story on every channel driving anyone else nuts? I think I preferred Jon and Kate. At least it was interesting.
I just saw a pic of Jon and Kate on July 4th and they were actually smiling or laughing together at something. So I guess Jon is "talking" to her now... ????
ReplyDeleteSo they didn't go to that little town parade they usually go to? So sad. They said they wanted it to be their family tradition and now they probably can't go because they are too famous, etc.
Saw the episode "Kate's Labor Day". You get to see what she went through in labor, and the weeks leading up to that. Even though she loves her kids, she misses the easier times at the condo with just Mady and Cara. No matter how crabby she acts, people should just give her a pass for having to take care of 8 little ones by themselves before they got hired help.
ReplyDeleteLove your post!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Jon and Kate are doing the right things: celebrating the 4th of July together with the kids and actually any family event is very important. I hope that with the time they will learn to celebrate birthdays (his and hers), mother’s day and fathers day too. My friend Amit that went through a tough divorce claims that those things are the most important, and that they bring more confident to the kids.
Has anyone noticed how pretty Cara and Mady are getting in recent pics?

ReplyDeleteI think most of us did give her a break the first couple of seasons. I know I did.
We understood the stress of taking care of 8 toddlers alone. But Jon was a great help to her when he was home. He took care of the children just as much as she did when he was there. They also had friends and family that helped them. I know it's not the same, so I definitely understood it was a lot to take care of all those kids. They didn't really show that much of them before the babies were two years old anyway. But what was her excuse in the more recent years? I personally think she got worse as the kids got older or as the "seasons" went on.
I really enjoyed watching Jon and Kate the first few seasons. Not so much the last couple. I defended Kate's "personality" a lot to my husband until I just couldn't any more.
I do agree it was nice to see them all together on the fourth of july, that seems like it was a special holiday to them. It does seem a little empty though w/ them going through a divorce while they were "together". Hopefully being together was enjoyable for them and causss them to think more about what they are giving up.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very funny video. Just had a chance to watch. Good to see the humor. Was in the drug store checkout looking at all the front-page Kate magazines. I wish she could make money from them!
ReplyDeleteI hope Kate gets her book and clothing lines. If you have any personal contact with her "peeps", or if we can somehow let them know that we still like Kate, let us know. I'll send emails of support.
I also think in the long run, she'll be better off without Jon and he will flounder when he finds he can't take care of himself. Oh well.
If the J&K show doesn't continue (see me cry), please keep this site going. Call it whatever you want, but it seems most people who post here are good people.
My first Monday without them, I'm going to the Phillies game.

I don't know that they've ever been without help, since the tups were born. During the first year, it's been well documented that they had a registered nurse (paid for by Medical Assistance). When that help was discontinued, or rather the payment for that help was discontinued, Kate appealed to the state, and was turned down. At that point, the neighborhood and church community, family and friends stepped in; among those would be Beth and Carla, Nana Janet, Aunt Jodi . . . I am not trying to down play the amount of work and/or stress that was involved.
I'm sure both Kate and Jon were extremely busy, tired, stressed. How could any parent of 6 babies plus 2 more barely beyond the toddler stage NOT be tired?
But I don't think that any of those things can give Kate a "pass" for bad behavior, or I should say bad manners. Being tired, exhausted even, doesn't cancel out any rudeness that is the result of that exhaustion.
And why is it that Jon always bore the brunt of Kate's tirades? Why is it more acceptable to display bad manners or rude behavior to those who are closest to us? Again, family, friends, loved ones. And I'm not singling Kate out alone in this statement. I am sure we are all guilty of such acts from time to time. Kate has the added misfortune of having her bad manners broadcast to the world (although that is her own doing).
We all feel safer (Kate included) lashing out at those we love, simply because we know they love us and put up with us. Similar behavior at school or at work wouldn't be tolerated and we all know that, and censor ourselves because of that. But our loved ones sometimes have a breaking point too, and we don't see it until it's too late. I think that's part of what happened to Jon and Kate. She didn't know when she finally had gone too far.
Schmecky girl,
ReplyDeleteITA with you comments. I too was a big fan of Kate in the beginning. It is just hard to defend her anymore. And I also think Jon gets a bad rap. Sure, he has made some mistakes and has acted very immature. I have seen no signs of him having an affair, just making bad decisions. I don't like when people call him names and say he needs to 'grow a pair'. He has been there for those kids through thick and thin. He loves them and it is very obvious that they adore him. I believe he just reached the end of his rope and couldn't take any more, so he rebelled. Kate is not all bad, by any means. I think her personality limits her in so many ways and is probably very difficult for her to overcome. I wish they could work it all out. They have so much to work for. Maybe we will all be surprised when the show goes off hiatus and they are planning to work it all out and move forward together. But, i think in order for that to work, they both have to be willing to change.
Thanks Schmecky girl, for verbalizing your feelings toward Kate far better than I could.
